@Slice'n'dice told you we'll sell trekkers for at least 27m. He can be a fantastic player in the right system. Now we're asking for 30m up front (Palace offered 27.5+4m add ons). I think we'll sell him for sth like 30m+2m add ons, basically were taking our money back:cool: in hindsight, he was 100% worth it, we basically gave a million or two to relegate Aston Villa. yep, definitely worth it. :p

Yeah can't believe it great to see, Palace really splashing the cash at the moment aren't they? Don't know if I'd say it's worth it, imagine what we could've done if we'd spent 30 million on a good striker that suited us, but then again maybe we'd still have Brendan Rodgers then, who while I think is given a bit too much stick as he deserves a lot of credit for that season a couple of years ago, we played some incredible stuff at times (people talking about it as if anyone could finish second with Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling up front are talking utter crap, Rodgers fine tuned a system which got the best out of those guys and many others), but we've got a great man in charge in Klopp and someone who I have faith will take us forward. Think Brendan had started to run out of ideas really and it showed, think he's a good manager though and will do well in future. Just need to learn how to organise a defence.

So anyway, Man Utd bought that guy plus this Bailey guy for 60 million plus Ibrahimovic for insane wages and no doubt huge signing on fees and if rumours are to be believed 100 million for Pogba plus 300,000 wages. What was that about Man Utd not trying to buy the league? Remind me how is this different from City and Chelsea? Wasn't Mourinho trying to have a pop at Guardiola not being very good for only going to teams with unlimited money only the other day? (although this was the pot calling the kettle black in the first place).

Spot on about brendan. I've said this many times before, even here I think, I've got huge respect for the man. We played some absolutely brilliant stuff under him, a joy to watch, defense were still leaking goals yeah but we were outscoring everyone, 6-3, 4-3, 3-2 etc it was mental. Unfortunately not the best ending yeah, but I'll never forget the highs of that season. Those who say that it was solely down to Suarez are talking absolutely bollocks, it's especially sad to see if it's coming from Liverpool fans. As you said, we were right to move on, Brendad was a lost man after that disastrous 2014/15 season, abandoned his ideas, you could see it with the Benteke transfer (big, tall, sluggish striker) and the first few games of last season, trying to play defensive football, especially man United away was a disgrace, they were there for the taking but we were just sitting on our half playing for a draw. To be honest, i think if we had won the title in 2013/14 we wouldn't have sacked him, no matter the results of the last couple seasons. Just my feeling.

Believe me, as a ManYoo fan I'm not keen on the spending spree we seem to be embarking on. We don't seem to do all that well with expensive buys for some reason, barring a few exceptions. I just hope we don't toss away the good youngsters that we have already...

Yeah totally agree played some incredible stuff then, to be honest if we'd won the league that season I don't think 14-15 would've been as bad. Was a bit of a hang over from that season I think, seems like Brendan was a little jaded from then, by that Chelsea game particularly, who knows though of course.

Well obviously Pogba is an excellent player, 100 million is a huge amount though to spend on anyone no matter how good. Wouldn't hold your breathe on the youngsters though given Mourinho's track record though.

Ibe looks like he's on his way out. Can't argue against it though. Moving him on for 15m and securing both buy back and sell on clauses is absolutely brilliant piece of work. So far, so good.

Just didn't kick on as hoped and 15 million is a pretty good offer considering. A shame though I always liked him, but I guess with a buy back clause we're covered if he does start to really develop. Are pretty over-stocked for wingers to be honest anyway.

Didn't watch our first friendly (same time as the Murray semifinal), but heard we played some good stuff, watched manes individual highlights after, he looked great. Very happy for Ings, lad is quality.

"I thought Fleetwood were a rock band" how can you not love Klopp :p

He's out? Why?

Has been pretty poor since klopp came in, besides Stoke away hasn't really impressed. 15m is too good to turn down, plus as Slice n dice said the most important thing of the deal is the buy back clause, if he has a great season there I bet he'll be back come next summer! ;)

Not sure about that. We haven't got many proper wingers and if both ibe and markovic leave this summer, I can see us going after another one.

Don't know if Markovic is leaving yet or not, never really got a chance apart from at wing back, think he could be good doubt we'd get too much at the moment. Not so much traditional wingers but we do have quite a few players who would play in those positions more often than not; like coutinho, mane, lallana, Milner add in the likes of Ojo and stuff I don't think we are too badly off. Guess it depends on what happens with Markovic. More than anything though, we need a decent left back.

Celtic just lost to Lincoln Red Imps of Gibraltar in Champions League qualifying 1-0.

Has there ever been a worse managerial debut?
-----
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers insisted "there's no embarrassment" after his side lost 1-0 to Lincoln Red Imps of Gibraltar in the Champions League second qualifying round.

"I'm not really [shocked]. I know these results can happen," said Rodgers. "We stay calm. We need a performance next week."

Celtic will welcome the champions of Gibraltar - a team containing a fireman, a policeman and a taxi driver - to Glasgow next Wednesday.

Just trying to protect his players I suspect. Can't imagine him being so generous behind closed doors. Plus big picture-wise he'll be aware that it's not likely to matter. Couldn't have much worse for a first game though.

2016-17 La Liga schedule has been released.

The first El Classico will be played at the Camp Nou on 3rd or 4th of December - the last fixture before Real Madrid fly to Japan to participate in the 2016 Club World Cup.

Santiago Bernabeu will host a huge second El Classico on 22nd or 23rd of April. If we get a small gap between the two teams coming into that match, it could be the biggest derby in recent memory, even bigger than the one in 2009-10 season.

If it happens, here is hoping for the same result. :)

I never thought that anyone would get even close to Real Madrid's La Liga count. But looking at the tempo of the current Barcelona generation, that looks very likely now.

What would I give to see Barcelona performing a Manchester United and overturning a big deficit in league titles... ;)

After the painful loss in the last Clasico. Hope for Barcelona to win 5-0 just like in 2010.

It would require Real to stop winning completely like Liverpool have, which won't be the case. ;)

Barcelona won 8 out of the last 12 if I remember correctly, while Real won 3 times. Hypothetically speaking, if they keep that speed, Barcelona will be the new record holders in about 20 years. Of course, that won't happen so the wait will be longer than that if not eternal.

I didn't find it painful, since at that time it didn't seem to cause much harm, plus Barca won the league in the end.
They will. Barca have won 6 of the past 8. Real have won 1. The same as Atletico.
That has been amazing dominance, but it is very difficult if not impossible to keep that up as Emperor said.

I'm ready to watch the start of the Jose Mourinho adventure. One of those rare occasions that I will tune into MUTV. Luckily enough, my mate has it.

Looking forward to that friendly vs Wigan as well.

Although, I can't remember being more excited for a Community Shield match than the upcoming one against Leicester. Probably the recent lack of silverware is making me behave very differently. :D

An El Clasico defeat is always painful for me especially when it is in that matter. A league title and another Copa Del Rey title capped off another great season though. I can't be too disappointed

Also you expect Leicester to drop this season. After the miracle they produced last season

Imagine how tough it has been for Real supporters recently then. They had to deal with a lot more defeats. ;)

Steven Gerrard was guest in the a league of their own show a few years ago, at one point James Corden asked him which are the last three trophies Liverpool have won. Gerrard naturally replied "Champions League, FA Cup and league cup". Corden corrected him "Its the community shield, fa Cup and league cup."

"the community shield?? It's a shield, not a trophy!!!"

That's weird, I think all other Domestic Super Cups are considered actual trophies. As for the Domestic Cups, the FA Cup is the biggest one however.

N'Golo Kante has signed for Chelsea. The blues have a master interceptor in their squad now.

I hope that will be the only departure from Leicester this summer.
