Some musician (Pharrel? I'm familiar with the name but that's it.) will have an Adidas line to be worn by Garbi. Don't understand the partnership there, don't really like the kit either.

Mlad got bageled in the first set to Gavrilova. On the changeover after she won the first game of the second set, she asked the chair umpire if she can get her racquet restrung. Looks like she is adjusting her tension to meet court conditions/player conditions. She is requesting 21-21 (assuming this is kg). Currently she is up 3-2 with the new racquet still on the way? It will be interesting to see if that new tension makes a difference.

Lucic-Baroni has now lost 6 straight matches and has lost 9 of her last 11 matches since making the Premier Charleston SF.

Lauren Davis has lost 5 straight matches. Has also lost 9 of her last 11 matches too. Those two wins were as a lucky loser in Eastbourne, one which saw her beat Radwanska.

Babos meanwhile has lost 10 of her last 11 matches and 11 of her last 13 matches.

And just one year and one day after she won Olympic Gold in Rio, Puig loses to Townsend... Puig now 17-21 since winning Gold...

Not great.

I'm actually surprised Lucic-Baroni is still pulling off some good wins in singles (obviously not recently). She turned 35 this year and her high is only around top 20. I think Charleston was a good run but could have been her last one.

As much as I like Davis she is just giving away too much in height and reach. She's going to be a good top 30 player but I don't expect her to get much higher. Great fun to watch though.

Don't know what's going on with Babos. She's sunk to top 50 after reaching top 30.

Puig is the biggest drop off here. She's reached top 30 but way below that now. Still, just 23. Expectations after gold might have been too much.

I think Puig is going threw the I have arrived thing and took her foot off the pedal. Its like when a Football/baseball player gets that huge
contract they been after and then go to crap for the next year or so. I think she will be back just needs to adjust

I am going with Pliskova to recover and defend her title after Toronto! She got embarrass at her play to Wozianacki in the third set ahead 5-1 and losing!

I see somebody escaped unscathed from the great 2014 Pharrell's Happy epidemic. Those were simpler times. Today, we've to endure buying bread to the sweet sounds of Despacito.

At least, she won't have to sport this look:

Some of the only times I'm exposed to today's music is when I get a bus from my local uni campus to the main one in the city. I swear for a while I'd hear uptown funk every single morning. But I don't listen to radio otherwise...except for Sirius XM. Usually flip between First Wave (Larry the Duck and Richard Blade are the best!), Lithium, and Ozzy's Boneyard.

But yeah...so he's partnered for casual tennis shoes before...why is he designing an actual tennis line? Somebody replied to my thread in shoes and apparel section that Zverev will be endorsing the men's stuff, and I really think it looks terrible. He went for some "classic" look that imo is not really classic tennis style. On a scale of 1-10, one shirt is maybe 3 or 4, but the rest I'd all rate lower than that. Sorry for rant but I don't really understand any of it. I don't know who they're trying to sell it to either. I don't think it's a good look for Zverev either. Mugu's stuff is a little bit better, but not much. The Stella Mccartney stuff I saw looks much better imo.

I kind of like the outfit personally, and I also like when the players take fashion risks. They don't all have to be red dress Nike clones :p

Damn Puig looks good in that kit. Her game, uh not so much.

Yeah, Puig's dress was colorful, it really stood out. Ellesse is hard to find in the US.

It's very difficult to get the Ellesse kits that Puig and Lopez wear. Somebody explained it in another thread, and I think he said that their kits see limited release in Japan and that's about it. Something like this anyway. I think the thread is in pro gear section if you wanted to see for yourself.

I don't like the Nike bots either. Nike in particular has gotten super lazy with their tennis stuff the past few years.

I suppose this Adidas kit could be worse, but I am not really a fan. Again, I think the Stella stuff looks a lot better. It's also nowhere near as good as some of the old Adizero stuff, or even the more traditional Adidas stuff.

I'm starting to feel Ostapenko was just a one-hit-wonder that was instrumental in god's more general plan to prevent Simona from ever winning a Slam.
