Good final stretch by Halep to win the first set after being 5-4 down, with Wozniacki serving for the set. Some fine defence and angles there.

I should've hedge on this bet. I'm sure the odds of Konta winning when it was 4*-2 was like +800 or something. Wow imagine if I dropped a grand on that, would've won 8k. But who knew that she would end up winning. Do you bet?
No, used to play in a regular poke game and did some online before outlawed in the US. Never got into sports betting. I ain't rich enough. :D

Wow, what a meltdown by Halep. She ended up losing the second set after being a double break up, with some admittedly close games that could've gone either way. But winning only one more game since being 4-0 up in that set is really bad (and she was playing fairly well up to that point).

Online sports betting isn't illegal though. I sports bet for the rush because my life's been a dread for the past 2 years.

Switching between Willis and Konta, I have to agree Johnny Mac has a point . . .
I was just thinking how much better and more balanced the ladies matches were today. Ostapenko vs. Konta was a great match. A bunch of finals grade matches today before the semifinals and all of them better than just about any match on grass for the men so far this year.

I think we're being had! Halep played 6 sets today? Woz 5? Konta at least 5? Looks like 6 for Watson?

Women can't play 5 sets.

Saw her on the practice courts a few years back at the Washington tournament. Seeing them live gives ya a whole new outlook on life.
I was going to go last year to see Belinda but she didn't play. Won't be playing this year either :(

Although if the Mug shows up, which I doubt, I will be there. I know Thiem's playing, but I'd need some more incentive to travel down for the tournament.

Love the Citi draw on the men's side; Zverev and Thiem slated as top seeds. Pouille and Monfils should be 3 and 4 unless Kyrgios moves up. Basically the future of ATP on display.:p

She got thrashed by CoCo Vandweghe just last week in Birmingham, winning just 4 games in the match.. I can see tons of players beating her. Kuznetsova, Wozniacki, Halep, Pliskova...
Hmmm. Pliskova and probably Woz blocking Konta's run to the title; just knocked off RG champ and then the world number 1 all in one day.

Pouille playing too? Was not aware. That definitely tips the scale a bit more, because I love his game.

Despite Kerber's loss, she will still end the week as #1 thanks to #2 Halep losing in 3 sets to Wozniacki.

Halep was up a set and 3-0 EXACTLY like she was in the RG final and yet she AGAIN managed to lose. She just needed to close that match out and win her SF and she would've been #1.

Embarrassing for her for that to happen twice now, both times while up a set and 3-0..

Good win by Caroline though. She won the title in Eastbourne way back in 2009. Has a very winnable SF against Watson to make the final once more.

Woz has never gone past the 4R at Wimbledon, but this year is a good chance for her without Serena and Maria, she'll be the 5th seed.

Pliskova continues her fantastic form of late. Into the SF with a good win over fellow top 10 Kuznetsova.

Kerber now on 7035 pts, Halep on 6920 pts and Pliskova on 6570 pts. If Karolina makes the final she'll have 6690 pts and if she wins the title she'll have 6855 pts.

Also, come Monday, the live rankings will have Pliskova as the provisional number 1.

Kerber is defending her Wimbledon finalist points (1300) whilst Halep is defending her QFist points (430) and her Bucharest title points (280). Pliskova only defending her 2R points (70) so Pliskova will leapfrog them both.

Get ready for #1 Pliskova everyone.

Great win for Watson over Strycova. She needed a WC to get into this event as her ranking was at 126th in the world. Now up to #102.

Two Brits in a Premier SF in Britain. Good for them @PDJ

Race to Singapore update:

Halep still at number 1 (just)
Pliskova up a spot to number 2. A win in the SF would push her to number 1, ahead of Halep by just 2 points.
Svitolina down 1 spot to #3.
Ostapenko remains at #4
Wozniacki jumps a spot to #5. A SF win would see her jump over Ostapenko for #4
Mladenovic down a spot to #6.
Konta at #7. A win in the SF would take push her in front of Mladenovic for #6.
Venus at #8
Kuzy at #9
Muguruza at #10.

Other highlights:
Kerber at #15
Kontaveit at #21
Stosur at #23
Defending champ Cibulkova all the way down at #26. Won't qualify for Singapore or even the Elite Trophy at this stage..
2015 champ Radwanska faring even worse, way down at #40
Kvitova at #68
Jankovic at #110
Sharapova at #112

It just seemed like the men, even at the Marcus Willis level, were such smoother ball handlers. The ladies, every shot is kinda nerve wracking. You're happy if they bash it back and it lands in, and if it's to the open court, so much the better. But I agree, Johanna Konta, especially matched against Osteo, kept me rivited.

I'm not lauding technique or anything, but Osteo is pretty awesome. I found the Cilic vs. Feliciano Queen's final far from riveting for the most part because the hold of serve was almost a foregone conclusion. Feliciano is cool to watch, but I much preferred watch Osteo, Konta, Halep, Pliskova, and Woz on grass this week. It helps that I actually now like all of those players to boot.:p Eastbourne has been a really cool event.

Can we get a tournament where she doesn't cry like a child? This constant bawling makes it hard for the public to warm to her.
It's such a shame that she's not handling the pressure of being a top player well given she's one of the brighter more personable players. I wonder how much of it is to do with the death (suicide I think) of her sports psychologist who brought her on leaps and bounds.

Gosh, like I needed any more reason to dislike Konta. She's just gave a walkover to Pliskova. Why didn't she retire yesterday? Sorry clown!:(

She was 2 points from winning the match, slipped over and had a nasty bang. She didn't know what damage she'd done and was able to finish the match quickly. Why should she give Kerber a walk over?

Sure! You mean retirement? Konta is a drama queen and it was obvious to anyone with eyes that she was going to give a w/o today. Each to his own!

Really hope Konta is ok, head knocks can be awful. Dellacqua did the same in Beijing 2015 and appeared to be fine after but it ended up becoming an awful injury which saw her sidelined for over a year. SHe said she was bedridden at times and got awful headaches.

Very risky for Konta, hope she pulls through.

Pliskova into her 2nd straight Eastbourne final. Hopefully this time she does one better and wins the whole thing!

Head knocks are very serious thing and not at all somerhing to play down. Would not be criticising her for not retiring while 2 points from the match. Can't imagine anyone doing that if they can still play, and she could. Not surprised it's hurting her now, hope she recovers for Wimbledon.

Really don't think she has the character to try to suck it up like the top women-she could have least gone out there today & seen what happened, there is no mention of anything specific other than soreness. Kurt Angle worked the Olympic wrestling final with a broken freaking neck & won it.
