I was just looking at Nadal's record since the lost to Cilic a year ago. Nadal is a mind-boggling 47-3 since that Cilic loss. That is incredible. Since the beginning of Wimbledon, Djokovic is 44-4, which includes 15-1 vs the top 10. That is incredible as well. More importantly, Djokovic has won the last two slam events and is now in his 3rd consecutive final.

I don't ever recall seeing two players with a winning percentage this high over a 6+ month span battling it out. Nadal is serving like a monster and is destroying his opponents. Djokovic allowed only 4 games to Pouille. This is going to be incredible.

I'm actually picking Nadal to pull this off. No task is too tall for Nadal when he's clicking. Djoker is insane right now. I've got Nadal taking in this 4.

I hope joker wins but many here are sleeping on nadal in this match. I think his form has been excellent. That matchup in 2012 was competitive. Could have gone either way.

Well 20 people voted straights. How depressing will that be for tennis? Not to mention a phenomenal ripoff ticket-wise.

Rafa in 3 or 4 sets. Djo lost sets to scrubs like Shapovalov and Medvedev. So not that hard for Rafa to take 3 sets off a subpar Djo. Rafa is hitting the ball more authoritatively than Djo and his revamped serve will give him free points. Not the same for Djo whose serve has been misfiring. Pushing can only take Djo until the finals, it will not work against Rafa. Also fitness wise I think Rafa is better, Djo was lucky the Wimbledon 2018 SF was spread over two days or else he would have toast. He can't keep up with Rafa's intensity for more than 3 hours.

Hoping to see an outstanding match like the last time they played in a grand slam. Would be nice to see a definition in the tie break of the fifth :D

To put things in perspective consider that Nadal has won only three of the last 15 encounters. Then take into account that this is Djokovic's best surface and Nadal's worst. Nadal's only hope was if Djokovic somehow got drawn into a 5 set marathon in the semi. The biggest issue for Nadal is that when he steps on court with Djokovic he knows deep down that he will most likely lose. No other player has this advantage over Nadal. It means that Nadal time and time again loses the key points and key moments when playing Djokovic. This isn't going to be as close as most people are picking. Djokovic in 3 - maybe 4 if he loses focus.

Having said this I would love to see another epic encounter between these two great players!

@3fees has spoken. I feel much more confident now.

The title is Novak's .....book it.

Nole gets up for Rafa / Roger matches,, I like both players actually..

Since 2015 they have met 10 times-- Djokovic 8 wins , Rafa 2 wins--both on clay

This is a textbook finals slam with NO 1 and 2 in the finals,, I'm disappointed the semi finals did not have No 1, 2, 3 and 4 there,, however I'll manage :)

Where is Stringbean Tom and Meles ? I miss there pointed quips in these discussions and predictions,,,blnt

Cheers

I wonder who a certain Federer fan is pulling for? You know; the guy who now think the Big 3 is winning too much.

Oh? I see this going all the way with both ending up battered. They are both on 4 - 5 levels above every ATP player, so this will be the time for brick walls to collapse and teeth to fly in ever dorection, so to speak.

I'm thinking Nadal to win either with a 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 type of scoreline, or a 7-6, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 type of scoreline.

What is fantastic is that no matter who wins, the winner will write a new page in Tennis History. Nadal would become the third player to achieve the DCGS in Men’s Singles and the first player of the B3 to do it while Djokovic would become the AO GOAT. It’s truly a crucial moment for the history of the sport.

Djokovic 7-6, 6-2, Nadal retires injured. You heard it here first. Or somewhere else, perhaps.

This is the real final.

My take is Novak in 4 sets. If it goes to 5 sets, both of them won't be able to walk for a week. Novak will still fight it out in 5 if it goes that far.

And Joe Kovic will be in position for his second wraparound slam sweep just three years after completing the first one!

Not counting mid-tourney withdrawals as losses is so dumb. Technically Fed didn't lose WTF '14, so then why doesn't he have the trophy?

Anyone who says they are totally confident that Rafa or Novak will win, and especially comfortable, is either deluded, lying or trying to mask their worries.

The fact is this match really could go either way, i think if it ends in 4 sets Rafa will win,if it goes to 5 sets i favour Novak.

But i would not be betting my house on it, and i suggest anyone who says they would be happy to do so is telling porkies.

I'm super scared and pumped for this match at the same time. I think Rafa will win in 5 but I don't know, with the luck he's had all these years at AO...

Nadal is going to try to serve and volley and finish points at the net. He's not going to try to beat Djokovic from the baseline on this surface. His first serve percentage will be crucial. Djokovic will try to get in his head by returning deep and redirecting the ball. Nobody has ever had the measure of Nadal as Djokovic does. I think if Nadal can't win this match even after having 4 months rest and a renewed energy and aggression and improved serve and first-strike tactics, it could be damaging to Nadal's psyche in future meetings.
