Personally it's hard for me to see standford doing as well as last year with fawcett leaving. Gellar is strong but I cant see him filling thay role as a top 10 player yet.

St. Mary's is a midmajor team from WCC with a power 6 UTR ranking of 74 vs Stanford's Power 6 UTR ranking of 83. That means that each line the Stanford player averaged a UTR 1.5 higher than SMC players. Of course Stanford won easily! The highest uTR of an opponent was 12.41.
I understand but St mary is tougher than that UTR indicates. I never really trusted that UTR rankings, there are flaws. I think St. Mary also wasn't at 100%, that team starts off slow in the season and playing the top 5 team in the country right off the bat doesn't help

THOUSAN OAKS, Calif. – Sophomore Axel Geller won the Sherwood Cup on Monday, defeating teammate Alexandre Rotsaert in Monday's championship match.

It marked the second consecutive year Cardinal teammates faced off in the tournament's championship match. Tom Fawcett defeated Sameer Kumar in last year's title match.

Geller and Rotsaert teamed up on the doubles side to win three matches and reach the tournament finals. UCLA's Govind Nanda and Maxime Cressy outlasted the Stanford duo, 6-2, in Sunday's title match.

Were you there today? My dad and I did our usual (every other) Sunday hit up there and when we were done, we watched the end of a doubles match and the beginning of singles. Couldn't tell you who any of the players are but we have seen Kumar hit a couple times on the weekend. Besides the womens ITA a few months back, this is the only college tennis that I've ever seen. I'll have to start making a habit of going up when they play at home:)

Stanford starting the season well, but no big team they faced yet. I wonder what is going on with Kumar. He was playing very well at he end of last year, now he's struggling at #5 ... He is way better than that. He should be playing at #2, and then Stanford has a very strong team again.

Should be a very good match with OSU on february 2nd. OSU is very tough to beat at home so I pick them to win that in a close one but should be fun.
Do they have webcam ? and can you get out there and record 2-3 matches including doubles and post on youtube?

Nostradamus, yes, the match was streamed through Ohio State's PlaySight HD streaming. The following link displays all colleges with HD streaming installed through PlaySight (free viewing, excellent quality):

And this link shows all active PlaySight matches currently underway (note, sometimes the match icon will still display, even if the match has completed):

Last year I was advised past matches are not available. However, players can sign into their PlaySight accounts to view their own matches, as long as they registered their Player Info during the PlaySight match-setup.
So how do I sign into their player accounts and start watching ?

OSU very impressive yesterday. Doubles was strong and J.J. the real deal. His return of serve was amazing.
I thought the match would have been a lot closer but OSU does play well at home. I was going to pick them to win the title but then I remembered Wake Forest exists.

How 'bout those Card! Back from the dead. Take out Trojans 4-3 in L.A.
Too easy for the Cardinal. and that was after dropping the doubles point. Next time Geller will easily defeat Holt who is nowhere near the talent. plus Cardinal will win the doubles. so not close

Kumar at 4 and frosh at 6 made the difference. And Mike 0 and 2. Wow.

The absence of Verboven and Jaede in the singles play was what broke the Trojans today. Easy wins from Holt and Cukierman surprised me because I felt like the talented likes of Geller and Rotsaert would have put up a fight, but they lost pretty solidly. Personally, I don't know what it is with last year's 3 and 4 not being in the lineup.

What it should have been for a good win:
1. Holt
2. Cukierman
3. Verboven
4. Jaede
5. Riley Smith or Logan Smith
6. One of the two above or Mor Bulis

Great win. I thought they were destined to lose this because playing USC on home court is not easy, and the Card dynamic coming to this match was worrying. But that's a surprise win, espcially after losing a very tight doubles. Great job team, and welcome back to where you belong!
