The best Djokovic on Grass may not have arrived yet

Nearly 32 y/o Djoko has just won his third Slam in succession and he is gunning for his second NCYGS. Your point!?

The point being there is no 25 year old equivalent of 2014/15 Djokovic now to push Djokovic this year.
Also the nearly 33 y/o Fed was playing the 5 set in the 2014 W only because of the Djoko's mental brainfart while leading 5:2 deep in the fourth. Nothing strange about 2014 Djokovic to have some mental demons at that time since he was coming of 3 tough loses in Slam finals in a raw and 2 tight 5 set loses against Wawrinka (2014 AO) and Rafa (2013 RG).;)

Yes, because only mighty warriors like Djokovic or Nadal are allowed to have mental brainfarts and choke while Fraud is not supposed to lose even with mono.

So Fed was playing at convenient time for him at 14 WB against mentally fragile version of Djokovic, but he couldn't finish the job anyway. :D

It might surprise you, but not all players are the same.

Raul at 32-34 was done and went to Schalke but Ronaldo at thirty was far from done. You should look at a wide range of players to see at what age they decline.

Raul, Totti, Schevchenko, Inzaghi, Del Pierro were all world class strikers, yet were garbage in their 32s. Ronaldo being close to his peak at 30 does not mean that Raul suddenly was at his peak despite some good performances.

Also, 33 is old vs. 27
32 is not old vs. 31, about even.

Haha not sure how this is relevant. I betted on Djokovic to win in 5 sets. Turns out I was correct and won money.

I didn’t believe Federer could win because he was past his best.

Also, people who voted with their hearts and got it wrong must prepare for Lou to dig out those votes and "prove" something in the future. I wonder if Novak fans voted for him to win Wimbledon 2016? Is that something we should laugh at in 2021? I hope not.

Well there was literally nobody to push 25 y/o Fed either, no polished, matured, experienced 31 y/o Rafa or Djoko at that time also, but we take 24-25 y/o Peak Fed level as the highest grass level anyway. Your point!? ;)

LOL

Still waiting for Federer to win in 4

But you see man, all of that majority who voted for Fed in those two finals only voted with their hearts, none of them really thought a win was possible. They saw this sad state of tennis coming all along. :sneaky:

There was Nadal in both the 06/07 finals. But I will say the next excuse for you: Nadal was a baby still sucking the milk bottle who somehow managed to defend a slam title. Imagine that! Nadal is so unbelievable, no? Fully grown on clay but a baby on grass.

Nadal was baby on grass in 06-11 with 2 titles and 3 finals

He was peak on grass in 12-present with 0 finals lol

Sadly, more have this peak view

2003-07 Federer fails to win a single Wimbledon against Nadal or Djokovic at their peak.

Btw, explain this one lol

Not sure why Sport liked this but lol.

vs. good grass courters (>=2 Wimbledon titles)

Djokovic is 4-5 down on grass,
Federer leads 6-4.

Actual results tell us a different story.

Federer winning 5 in a row and reaching 7 consecutive finals lost only to Nadal 9-7 in the fifth.
Djokovic's run was stopped by Sam Querrey (Who?)

Btw, Peak Nadal on grass = 2006-2011 (2 titles and 3 additional finals) or Peak Nadal on grass = 2012-present (0 finals lol)

EDIT: what a shame. Talking BS as usual. Oh well, ...

Where was this?

I'd rather hide my overexaggerated feelings of self-importance and desist from additional self-references, but it happened in a thread called "Federer is 8-9 in GS finals vs Top 5 players"...by the way, doesn't it seem unlikely coincidental that "Lew" literally rhymes with "skew statistics"?

Why do you strategically avoid to include 2008 and 2009? :-D Let me guess, Federer was old at age 26 in Wimbledon 2008, right?

Fed had mono in 2008 and recovering later in the year, it cost him proper preparation. That's how Djoko won his first slam and how Nadal barely edged a low confidence Federer at W! Those are the facts. Proper preparation - ring a bell? You know it's that excuse Nadal used at AO19 and which you quickly subscribed to :)

In a match anything can happen.

Nadal pushed Fed in 5 sets in 2007 and beat him in 2008.

Novak is much better than Nadal.

I agree Novak is much better than Nadal, but Novak at his absolute best couldn't even beat post-peak Federer on clay. He is not beating peak Federer on grass. It's just simple math.

In 2008, Fed was playing awful compared to his peak levels, which is what allowed Nadal to barely eke out a win over him.

Just occurred to me that that guy next to Judy giving her the knowing glance looks like Raonic, the guy who went on to meet Andy in the final (I wonder what were they cooking up together)! ;)

FROM 2003 TO 2006 UNLIKELY, BUT FROM 2007 TO 2009, FED WAS BEATABLE, WITH SOME LUCK NADAL IN 2007 AND RODDICK IN 2009 COULD HAVE WON THOSE MATCHES.
