Only that person knows how their body is feeling at that moment, so no one else should have the right to judge whether they're feeling sore or not, or whatever the case may be
This has never stopped TTW from bashing Nadal and Djokovic for taking MTOs

No, I just have a functioning pair of eyes

I've only watched a handful of her matches and in every single one of them she looked like she was on the verge of collapsing from injury/exhaustion/whatever but still miraculously pulled out the win in the end.

If Nadal or Djokovic pulled these stunts with this kind of regularity, we wouldn't hear the end of it

that's a bit annoying indeed when done systematically

Then you have to accuse every professional tennis player of the same thing, because they all do it, including Kerber in the recent match, second set.

You have to use the same judgment for everyone.

What kind of injury forced Kerber to bandage her leg, like she was in serious trouble? She ran around like a spring colt.

Give us a break.

Not at all.

Some do it much more frequently than others, and sometimes on purpose.

Don't be blind? What do you use for eyeglasses?

Of course Kerber wrapped her leg, tried to look injured, and then ran around like a spring colt.....yet you only criticize a rookie for supposedly playing injured?

Do you want one set of rules for established stars, and another for rookies? How logical is that?

German Sports TV announced that Kerber was angry about serveral (unnecessary?) medical time outs.
There was only ONE MTO...that is ridiculous.

Like Serena and Nadal never take an MTO? Is that supposed to be a credible cover story?

Who does German media think is going to believe that story?

Even if that story were remotely true, Kerber owes an apology for her comment, which is very unsportsmanlike.

If Kerber were really serious in her belief, the thing to do is to sit down privately and talk it over with Andreescu, not spew derogatory statements around

without discussion.

I wonder if the WTA has a position on this, or a comment on this, or at least a council to get Kerber's supposed complaint dealt with in an orderly way.

There really should be a general understanding among players as to what type of "injury" attention is acceptable, and then we don't get these wild

accusations by losing players.

The association has to step up here.

Does Djokovic also take MTO's?

Oh, what a horror!!

Tennis players are not supposed to take MTO'S....people might misunderstand.

Oh, I get it....Djokovic is an ESTABLISHED star....so that makes it OK?

Yes you didn’t watch the match which is obvious. But yet you say that Andreescu was only unsuccessful when Kerber moonballed her back and that in all other instances Andreescu gained the edge. Which is not true many times Kerber took those moonballs off the rise and took control of the point. So yes you did state that you only watched the highlights. Which is why your take on what really happened is definitely off.

Acting, showing deceitful behaviour, lying, misrepresenting the truth whatever. It’s still insinuating a bad character when you have absolutely no evidence to the contrary and do not know the person at all.

And I said she would have to be an academy award winning actress to behave the way she did with her coach at IW and for that to be fake. Since I believe she was speaking honestly with him, I don’t agree with you.

I think its the shame of social media where we can judge a human we’ve never met and accuse them of faking injuries and whatnot.

Never said she was a bad character actor, actually, she must be a pretty good character actor, after all, she fooled you. We do agree on one thing............... social media is shameful.

There is a big difference between doing these things for legitimate reasons and repeated, systematic abuse with the intention to throw off your opponent. One is fine, the other is gamesmanship. Don't pretend to not know the difference

What an amazing level of dishonesty and schadenfreude.

Anyone who insists that Kerber said what she said because of the MTOs (something Kerber never admitted) is wrong if only because Kerber is one player who doesn't have that license (since she does it and did it in the very last match she played! It is simply unacceptable for her to be so extremely outraged by MTO's... so I don't even believe that's the issue at hand here. Kerber was irritated by Andreescu overall, period.

she probly is a drama queen.. right after she won indian wells she asked the interviewer if her lashes looked ok

Not surprised by that comment from an 18 year old teen. Most girls I know have some minor obsession with appearance. Doesn't quite make you a drama queen but pretty normal actually. Unless you believe all 18 year olds teen girls are drama queens which, depending on your definition of drama queen, might be true.

Hell, I think half my wife's city league team are drama queens.

schadenfreude.
I´m confuse about the german word schadenfreude in this context.
@raiden
I see no context.
Please help me.
At the german sense is this word not very friendly. If happens a person an mishap and other persons are happy about this, is that "Schadenfreude".
Kerber cannot have schadenfreude..?! She lost the match...

I just watched highlights with her and Kerber.

Prediction: once the tour gets used to her extreme moonballing she will have severe problems with keeping up with the top guns.

Her movement is also quite suspect.

Are you serious?

Andreescu moves like Kim Clisters, has hands like Radwansnska, power like Serena & a tennis IQ of Hingis.

Her tennis UTR is now only second to Serena Williams in the world.

If what you just wrote is true that would mean that she should be bulldozing everyone off the court in the foreseeable future.

Let's just wait and see, if that will turn out to be the case.

Yes, I know, but I said that I expect that to keep being the case in the long foreseeable future. After all you described quite the monster of a player there.

We will see, won't we?

Tennis needs this.

Sick of everyone kissing each others butts.

Can't wait for round 3 to see Kerber take another beat down lol

Tennis needs this. > I think not so.

Sportiness and fairness do not prevent me in my opinion to be a good tennis player - the exact opposite is the case!

That is a good question.

Some posters have suggested that Andreescu took a medical timeout (just one), like that is some sort of crime? And no other tennis player ever takes a medical

timeout? She had stiff shoulder muscles from last week. Sounds like a massage was in order.

She was well within the rules.

Andreescu had cramps in last week's final. Is that not a good reason to get a massage? I always thought so.

Nothing adds up to Kerber's remark.

Andreescu makes the odd fist pump. Is that unusual? Are rookie pros forbidden from making any gestures? Not that I know of.

I cannot see any good reason for Kerber's act.
I think its funny that Andreescu took a MTO and Kerber Called her a drama queen but Danielle Collins screamed a "COMEON!" 5 feet from Kerber's face at the Australian Open.

Don't pretend that you don't know that Bianca had shoulder surgery recently, and a stress fracture in her foot.....more than reason enough for ONE medical time-out....don't repeat the same ridiculous accusation.

The real question here is when does Kerber offer an apology, there is no other issue left to discuss now.

That was indeed unfortunate.

Especially for a player with the movement of Davenport, the hands of Radwanska, the power of Serena Williams, and the IQ of Hingis, as one poster here assured me that she is.

Andreescu claimed that it was stiffness and strangeness, but it is apparently the after effects from recent shoulder surgery.

Too bad so many strange posters here assumed that there was nothing really wrong with Bianca, that it was just some kind of "mind game".....you guys now

have egg on your face....serves you right for jumping to conclusions without evidence.

Excuse me while I laugh really hard. You guys have made my day.

From where I'm standing, it seems like an extension of the mind games. Instead of giving Kontaveit a proper well deserved win, she quit after being thoroughly outplayed to avoid a bigger humiliation

It was reported in another thread this afternoon.

Now, stop distracting us from the only issue before us....WHEN will Kerber show us some class and offer an apology for falsely accusing Bianca of a fake injury.

It should be done SOON,,, I am getting tired of waiting for her to own up to her goof.

Let's see some class for a change.

And again, thank you for making my day yet again.

AND recent shoulder surgery, stress fracture in the foot....hey, anyone can play with those, right?

I didn't say any of that, and she was moving and hitting just fine in the first set and still got comprehensively owned by Kontaveit, but I won't press the conversation further.

For those that were yesterday laughing about my observations about her moonballing, I will quote her coach from today " So you throw the high ball, and then when you throw your high ball you want to get some depth, you want to push her back, ... and then try to use your forehand, try to get her on the move".

So, not only were my observations correct, but also the reason she does it (to be able to take the initiative after a weak response to the moonball) was correct, and also that it was an integral part of her strategy to "mix it up". Can't beat the feeling when the retaliation comes from the source itself.

Kerber called a spade a spade, and has nothing to apologize for. Probably should have told her Twitter publicist to delete the congratulatory tweet he wrote.

You have already pressed the conversation....SO.....of course, Bianca has more variety in her game than anyone else on the women's circuit.

She mixes up hard shots, touch drops, spins of every variety, more repertoire than anyone else in the game, male or female.

You are way off course about moonballs being her only weapon, that's just a laugh.

Now, with recent shoulder surgery and a recent stress fracture in the foot, of course, she tries to break the rhythm of her more limited opponents.

And she had to retire today with injury trouble.

So, what is your point? I don't see one.

Everyone sees that she owes an apology...time to show class.

She didn't call any spades, SHE GOOFED, just like you did above.

That tweet (probably not from Kerber) is not an apology. Not good enough.
