i tried a few round polys, similar
pp.plus power
pp.vendetta
pp.nano.vendetta
and of course pp.red.devil
all pretty comfortable and cool colors
as for a black round poly
i choose to go with pp.black.force
i put 17g pp.blackout mains and 18g pp.blackforce crosses
can you compare pp.CP to any other pp.round poly?? what you liked, what you didnt like, etc..
My previous go to setup was BO mains & RD crosses.
I have tried BO & BF before. I found the BF & RD quite similar (soft & stretchy) so I stuck with RD as I had a reel.
Problem with BO is it dies really quick so was looking to find a new setup.
I wanted an arm friendly setup with decent spin, power, good pocketing & forgiveness.
Forgiveness bears some explanation. I am not referring to arm-friendliness but a stringbed that tolerated my stroke deficiencies.
Some setups were good but required a lot of precision at ball impact. A tad too open & my ball sails wide, a tad too closed, the ball lands short.
A forgiving setup would let me swing whichever way & the ball would land in. Not sure this makes sense.
I used weighted & matched Blade 104s (2015) which by themselves were forgiving flexy frames.
I tried several PP sets during my trials but I always used Red Devil as my crosses.
Plus Power - Ok but nothing special. Died quite fast.
Hexapin Twist - Made stringbed too stiff for my liking. Lacked forgiveness. Good spin.
Strategem 8 - Really liked this. Good spin & forgiveness but murder on the arm even when used as a hybrid!
Cyber Power - Soft yet had decent power. Very nice feel & directional control when crossed with RD. No arm issues for me. Very forgiving. Less than stellar strokes still resulted in a nice ball.
I thought I found my new setup but decided to kick things up a notch.
Decided to try some highly reviewed strings in fullbed.
RPM Blast - Hated it. Had to use spin all the time. Anytime I flattened my strokes, the ball would sail.
Kirschbaum PL Evo - Underwhelmed. Soft & comfortable but too muted & under-powered.
Signum Pro Xperience - Was really hoping for something amazing from all the good reviews it was getting. Similar to the PL Evo but better overall but still not to my liking. Under-powered & too muted. I had good control but felt disconnected with the stringbed due to the feel.
None of the higher priced setups could beat the PPCP main & RD cross setup.
Not wanting to give up I started crossing the above with RD.
RPM Blast - Still sucked.
Kirschbaum PL Evo - Still sucked
Signum Pro Xperience - Was ok. To my surprise the stringbed stiffened up significantly with the RD cross.
So decided to switch it up.
PPCP mains & Kirschbaum PL Evo cross - Decent with very satisfying sound at impact.
PPCP mains & Signum Xperience cross - This was the wow! The stringbed was softer & more forgiving. Very nice feel & directional control. Was just a little bit better in every way to the PPCP main & RD cross setup. Decent longevity too. I can get a good 12-15 hours from this setup.
So my go to setups are now:
PP Cyber Power (1.20mm white) mains + Signum Xperience (1.18mm) cross.
PP Cyber Power (1.20mm white) mains + PP Red Devil (1.24mm) cross
Bear in mind the following:
I play flexy Blade 104s strung 53lbs mains & cross.
I'm located in South Asia which is hot & balmy all year round.
Signum Xperience 1.18mm is more like 1.23mm. Its shaped string so the thickness is measured at the thinnest point.
PP. Red Devil 1.24mm stretches & thins out when tensioned.
I prefer thin gauges whenever possible.
