Honestly i'm afraid we might see a disappointing match here, similar to that of 2015.

Did you even watch Federer at RG 2012 ?
Look while I believe Fred was decent in the SF but he was nowhere close to his usual clay self that tournament.
He lost a set to Ungur, Mahut , Goffin(qualifier at the time) in R2-R4 and then went to 5 after going 2 sets down to Delpotro and would have gone out if Del potro hadn't been injured.
Even Djokovic lost two sets two Tsonga.
Meanwhile in 2011 both Fedovic were murdering the draw.

I think Federer Wawrinka will not be that great a match in quality but will definitely be quite long. Both of them won't be willing to go down easily. Stan would love a slam SF after such a long time and he will be on a high after rediscovering a bit of his form this tournament.
Federer I think will be undone by his tendency to fall off a cliff after two sets of play. We will find out what truly happens when an actually good ballstriker tries to move him around and hit through him on clay. I am pretty sure he will struggle. There's always a chance of Fred turning the rules of the game upside down and start using his entire variety to not even let Stan play but I don't think that will happen.
Verdict : Stan in 5 maybe 4 ,expecting a topsy turvy slugfest. Alas he will have nothing left for Rafa

that's a pretty bold prediction considering 34 year old wawrinka played a 5 hour match the day before. you really think this match will go five. wawrinka to have any hope will have to play a Us open 2000 safinesque performance and get it done quickly in straight sets.

I always want to see Fed play. It would be awesome to see Fed in the semis of the FO. The problem is that even this fat version of Stan can slug this very slow version of Fed off the court. But win or lose, I like watching Fed.

Djokovic got in 21/25 first serves on BPs in that match. Saved 21/25 BPs. Was broken 4 times total in 4 sets. Same as Federer. Some failure of a service game.
Novak being at his peak while fed being past his favored Novak. The faster balls only balanced that out.
Fed was mediocre in the RG 2012 SF - especially ****e on service games - served at 56%, won only 56% of 1st serves (he's won above 70% of 1st serves vs Novak in every other clay court match) and was broken 7 times in 3 sets, FFS.

No. He had a total of 4 BP's, all in the first set and 3 in one game. Wawrinka was all over Fed in that match, it wasn't even as close as the score suggests.

fed isn't even that robotic to begin with, he was a hot mess of emotions coming up from what he and others said. I think is one of those players who when he walks out court is very calm and doesn't hype himself up, but w/e works for a player.
