600th win for Novak on hardcourts in his career tonight. 2nd most in history.

He played great, keep going!

Also, to put this more into perspective, Roger is #1 and has won 178 more matches on hardcourt than Djokovic. Djokovic has 158 top 10 wins to his 161 wins, and has 74 top 5 wins to his 75. That is mind boggling when you think about not only did he amass a lot of wins, he was doing it over a much higher percentage of top players.

Looks like Federer might be able to keep this record. 178 more wins need at least 4 years playing full hard court schedule.

Yea he's got 6 years on Nole and has been playing full time so he may keep that record unless Djokovic plays to 38 or 39 at a high level.

Some records aren't worth working for! I doubt Nole'll be sweating all those lame records of longevity due to Federer having nothing else better to do than play tennis closing in on 40! I felt the same about Connors who wasn't able to make finals and win majors that late in his career! ;)

Well Djokovic did say he wanted to play late into his 30's. Lol. I guess we will have to see though.

This is separate thread worthy... ;)

He underachieved at USO and RG, but maybe overachieved at WB.

Not yet...give 2 more Wimbledon trophies and you can call it that...5 Wimbledons is logical for a player, that dominates the decade!...He is player of the decade for Pete's sake! He didn't overachieve anything anywhere and won everwhere, where he deserved! But i do agree, that he underachieved at USO though...maybe at RG too (would have already been double career slam holder if for not that stupid smash ovehead miss fiasco against Rafa in 2013 RG semis!...) Also i do think he has anough time yet to compensate for that if he gets 2nd RG title and maybe if lucky 3 more US Opens (including this year...) 3 more US Opens though is a stretch and probably unlikely to happen! However i do think he is more than capable to win 2nd French yet, especially now that it has roof!

He was a moron today...no doubt about that. He has had close calls before in his career, like Rome 2016 when he tossed his racket and it almost hit a spectator, so this didn't completely come out of nowhere. I bet he learned his lesson today and will never hit a ball again.

Didn't get a chance to see the match. How did he look before the incident? Would be a real shame if he was playing well before this had to happen... :(

Absolutely nuts, this...

He looked decent up until he started randomly hitting droppers. Then he fell in the middle of a 7-point losing streak, then he lost his cool after being broken for 6-5.

He had a short ball with the whole court open for a forehand down the line and then hit a terrible forehand drop shot that Busta got to and hit a winner off of. Then it just unraveled from there. He was taking that game too lightly, too casual, then lost his edge and cool, and got defaulted. Hard lesson learned but it's really all his fault.

There is something called peripheral vision. He knew someone was there, but part of his brain didn't care and decided to strike the ball anyway. He needs to stay away from his delusional parents and go see a therapist who will put his head where it needs to be.
I seriously hope this forces him to change his attitude and be more aware of the impact of his actions on his surroundings. This would've never happened to Nadal or Federer.

So unnecessary to end up like that...

I’m obvious a fan but Novak has been an absolute dunce this year so it’s no surprise this is what it came to. He’s had close calls before. He needs to stop getting so angry. Look at what his anger cost him.
Your words are true. Novak is on a path to become Darth Vader of tennis.

Novak right now !

Is it just me, or do any of you miss the 2007-2016 Djokovic? Something went terribly wrong after that 2016 FO victory, he hasn't been the same guy.

It just seems he subconsciously attracts turmoil these days, not the Djoker I remember being a fan of. Nothing of this magnitude happened before that eventful RG 2016

Disappointing is an understandment, it just felt surreal watching it live...

But it was the right decision, he deserved to be DQ'd for his actions out there. I just hope he learns from it. Probably the lowest point in his professional career.

I think he should get back to court soon .
He should start practising on clay soon in few days.

If he dwells on this issue , he might not be able to focus at RG.

Don't know why but when Djokovic is full in momentum to go closer to Fedal at slams , the worst thing happens . After RG 2016 , and now this .

I hope he can recover from this and focus on slams now . he is inform . What a mess :cautious:

Good choice of words. Exactly how I felt, surreal, especially with the weirdness that can before. He got what he deserved and unfortunately it probably cost him a slam. I hope he’ll take a lesson away from this and make some adjustments going forward.

The situation sucks, but he only has himself to blame for it. Had he broken serve and taken the first set, none of this would’ve happened. Sad thing is watching him over the years, I always felt something like this would happen, really unfortunate that it happened here where he had a great chance to get #18. Tiebreak streak ended, winning streak ended, chance of equaling Nadal’s four USO ended, just because he hit the ball too high. Now what’s going to happen to YE #1?

Yep, it was coming and it culminated in the last place and the worst time it could have happened. All because he couldn’t reign in his anger.

His throwing hearts celebration needs to come to an end, because just...no. No one’s going to want to catch those hearts after this.

He really a stupid passive game at 5-4 40 love up on Bustas game..I was just thinking it should not come back and bite his ass.

What happens the next game? He injures his shoulder, loses the game and hits the ball woman and out of the tournament..worst thing that could possible happen..

The slow, boring, consistent baseliners do get on his nerves but even if he had lost the set,he would have surely played aggressively and closed out the mach in 4 sets max..

When I heard the woman screaming I thought, this is gone now..irreversible situation..

It was on the cards really..I lost count of number of times he was getting away with hitting the ball..i thought to myself now he is walking on a thin line here.. some day obviously he is going to hit somebody..

Novak is a notch above Feral but he has this habit of stomping on his own feet which Fedal conveniently avoid...

Lol. I can’t help but laugh at this.

Now this would be just a witchhunt if that happens
.he did that as an accident and that's it..He paid his price and he should be allowed to move on..

Right, he’s already been punished. DQ, gave back his winnings, and received zero points for the USO, as if he didn’t even step on court. Anything more is unnecessary and unfair.

I played Cricket with tennis balls for more than 20 years now and saw 1000s of tennis ball cricket matches .

Never saw anyone fall on ground after getting hit by tennis ball . Never.

Noone falls on ground after getting hit by ball at speed 100 km per hour , this was not even 20 km per hour speed . WTF

Also , IF LinesPerson need quick reflexes , why choose 253 year old person for the job ?

I think lines person should be young , who has quick reflexes . People in their 20s and 30s shud be ball kids and lines judge.
