Half of the points from IW 2019 will be deducted. Nadal will lose 180 out of 360 for advancing to SF, while Medvedev will lose only 22/23 points out of 45. The difference between Nadal and Medvedev is now 115 points. Medvedev will have a lead of at least 42 points over Nadal on March 15.I'm confused. I thought he had to win Marseille? Did Nadal withdraw from something?
> flukesSo Meddy literally flukes his way in without even earning it. I guess that's par for the course since it's the only way these guys are ever gonna warn anything significant.
Sorry for sounding so harsh. It's just thst it first took a global pandemic for a 90's dude to finally win a slam and now thank to the same global pandemic a 90's dude will finally reach the top 2.> flukes
> when a player keeps half points earned in 2019 to hold off hard charging youngsters
Washington final, Canada final, won Cincy (2020 QF), USO final (2020 SF), won St. Petersburg (2020 2R), won Shanghai, won Bercy, won WTF, won ATP Cup, AO final. He's holding 3 masters 1000 and the WTF titles (that's the same or better results than 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 YE#1 players as far as this century goes). True, no slam wins, but 2 finals are a very respectable result (when Djokovic became #2 for the first time back in 2010 he got QF, 3R, QF, SF in slams and a Bercy title). So Meddy literally flukes his way in without even earning it. I wish he had* confirmed it with a good run in Rotterdam. Little can he do now.I wish he confirmed it with a good run in Rotterdam. Or maybe doing well in Marseille.
Nevertheless, taking a glance at the ATP rankings in 10 days and seeing which players are in the top two... Perfection!
NVM forgot about Rome, he's even more legit than I thought he was.Washington final, Canada final, won Cincy (2020 QF), USO final (2020 SF), won St. Petersburg (2020 2R), won Shanghai, won Bercy, won WTF, won ATP Cup, AO final. Is this the result of the ranking freeze? Kind of, but Nadal would still need USO 2020 SF to stop it if there was no such thing and no point in going to the if if if territory. Great achievement for Medvedev, though points dropping post Wimbledon Armagedon is coming.
Probably true on all accounts except he is carrying 1000 points for Rome in '19.It probably won’t be for long though.
If Rafa plays Miami he has no points to defend there and he is not going into any masters tournaments on clay as the defending champ either which is probably a first since 2005 for him.
Wasn’t Rome played last year though?Probably true on all accounts except he is carrying 1000 points for Rome in '19.
Yes, but the scoring is best of '19 or '20, and so he's defending '19 title points for Rome.Wasn’t Rome played last year though?

What exactly is boring about his game? Be specific.Who cares... He's so boring to watch.

At some point, one of those Minions has to actually do something with the ball once it is passed to them from the last generation... I mean minion.

Yeah, it's just Med's fortunate series of flukes, didn't earn it, Nadal os true no2 @mike dannyWashington final, Canada final, won Cincy (2020 QF), USO final (2020 SF), won St. Petersburg (2020 2R), won Shanghai, won Bercy, won WTF, won ATP Cup, AO final. Well, wouldn't Medvedev have dropped his 2019 points if real tennis had been played in 2020? Don't speak as if he wasn't lucky.Yeah, it's just Med's fortunate series of flukes, didn't earn it, Nadal os true no2 @mike danny
that's precisely why it's a good thing to see him finally kicked out of the top2Who cares... He's so boring to watch.

Not to mention not losing any points in 2020 after his 2019 performances. Because he surely wouldn't have done as well in 2020 at those.Overall, there's little doubt for me Medvedev benefitted much more from COVID rankings than Nadal. Nadal missed out on improving on his 2019 clay season which was subpar by his standards. Meanwile, Medvedev basically maxed points for the entire post Wimbledon season which he'd never have done without burning out in a normal season.
