If Barty is going to loose because of injury she should have retired last match , Pera played brilliant match

Is Radwanska's husband coaching Linette? I see he's the Fed Cup captain, but is he pulling a Luthi with Linette?

I did. She didn't look this bad though and Pera is a far harder player to beat than Linette when she's on, which she was.
Linette is coming off a SF showing in Strasbourg with a new coach and to me is far more dangerous when she's on with far better results than Pera.

Barty has batting injury for a while now, she should probably take the time off she needs to fully heal.

Crazy that this is the first time Kenin won back to back matches since January, ends losing streak as well.
Part of me thinks she may be this tournament's example of 'working your way into a tournament'. It's yet to be seen, but I for one has totally written her off as a threat earlier on in this thread.

I am gutted for Ash Barty. I'm not even her biggest fan but I am gutted for her and also gutted some potential big clashes may not happen.

Osaka just wants Barty to stay at number 1 forever.
Every time there's a chance of closing the gap a little bit, she pulls some new disappointment out of the bag.

Used to be a big Pliskova fan but gave up quite a while ago, it's nice to see Sloane destroy her considering how rough Sloane's life has been during Covid. Pliskova needs to drop out of the top 10. She missed her chance to nab a slam and will be like Safina and Jankovic as slamless #1's.

Also want to know. I have the Tennis Channel on AT&T TV, but I don’t have U-Verse. That’s the only option it gives me to sign in to stream on Tennis Channel when I’m at the office. This is maddening. They make RG insanely hard to watch over here every year.

#9 Karolina Pliskova is out.

She loses in the 2R to 2018 runner up Sloane Stephens.

Pliskova has now failed to go past the 3R in the last 4 RG attempts.

Pliskova has now failed to go past the 3R in the last 4 RG attempts and hasn't made a slam QF since the AO in 2019 despite being ranked in the top 10 since August 2016...

The commentator is highlighting to Stephens that 65 years ago black women won French open. What does that have to do with anything. It is like promoting racism. All are equal, why to add unnecessary emotion or motivation.

^ That's my vision now too!

Theoretically Kontaveit could be a major threat for Swiatek (leads 2-0 but both have been on hard courts and has played a couple of really impressive clay court-matches during her career), but do I really believe in Kontaveit's victory - no. Then there is a bunch of USA-players that can give some serious resistance. If/as Iga can overcome those then there would be probable final against Badosa, whom she should able to beat. (Badosa, because I'm afraid Sabalenka will lose steam along the way)
If looking for surprise success in the tournament... I have a hunch that this will be Cori Gauff's breakthrough slam (despite the fact that at the moment she is somewhat struggling against Qiang Wang. )

Diyas is making Mertens work really hard for her money. Nice match in that respect that something else than brainless bashing for a change! :D

I watched most of the second set of Giorgi-Gracheva and as Giorgi took it so in exhibition-manner I thought the whole match was clear. I guess it wasn't!

Some players (and their handlers) lack the sense to take time off, being too concerned with anything from ranking, money, and other things which will no longer be of concern if an injury is never properly addressed.

It only the second round and: Osaka#2, Barty#1, Pliskova#10, Andrescu#7, Bencic#11 Muguruza #13 are out! LOL! Halep#3 is injured!

No offence to Jen Brady but she plays and grunts like every Spaniard player on the ATP tour :-D :-D

I like Kontaveit but I don't trust her past 3rd or 4th round. Too inconsistent. Also feeling a Sabalenka run, but can't trust her either. Dunno how either of their draws are shaping up, looking okay, or tough opponents lurking?

Peacock starts covering on the 5th

Thank you!

It's pretty ridiculous. I'm trying to recall how I used to watch RG in the past. I think it was ESPN2/3 and NBC on the weekends. Then I switched to TC, but seldom had the opportunity to watch live coverage given work schedule. I was with Xfinity and they offered the option to record.

I'm hoping coverage gets better for RG next year. At least fans and players don't have to deal with the usual rain delays, right? ;)
