Tiafoe got wrecked 6-4 6-1 6-0 when the two met here last year. Never beaten Med and has only ever won a single set. It would be a fun atmosphere with an American in the semis (when was the last time that happened on the men’s side? o_O), but hard to see it being all that competitive in the end.

I don’t see anyone pushing Meddy before the final. He’s a lock for the final.

I agree Tiafoe is amazingly athletic looking, but I think of athletic as being more balanced (i.e. not just muscular/stocky). My model for this is Damian Warner, who won the Olympic gold medal in Decathlon this year. Greatest Athlete in the World...by definition. (Of course this is a woman's perspective and I get that many guys think that the more 'muscular', the better.)

I'd actually lean toward Felix as being one of the most 'athletic' looking tennis players.

True.

To be honest, none of these guys left in the competition other than Novak and Zverev can give Med a fair challenge. I'm counting on the crowd to give Tiafoe somewhat of a boost.

FAA is easily the worst among the next-gens when it comes to big matches. He will fold like nothing.

Keep waiting for the wheels to come off for Tiafoe. He’s had streaks where he could play with anyone, but this is as long as I can remember him holding it together

I've noticed that as well. He has shortened his takeback and keeps his hand much closer to his body than before. Still points the tip of the racket at the ball as it's approaching and the racket face towards the back fence which is what the next-gen forehand looks like. His take back but it's much more compact than it was just 4-6 months ago and is much more consistent.

Auger may implode mentally after this. He had EIGHT break points on 4 different games and couldn't win 1. Tiafoe had 1 BP in the opening game and broke. This has to be the most hurtful kind of scenario in tennis. I fear that if he doesn't make the Semis here (with THIS draw), he will never do it. I will be ROFLMAO if Alcaraz makes his 1st SF before Auger or Sinner.

Fucs is actually not what I would call bulky. He’s extremely ripped, obviously, but his legs and body are much thinner than they may appear on TV. I don’t think of him as someone who carries too much muscle or weight.

I'm just coming to the match. That stat is kind of like FAA's tournament finals - lost of chances but hasn't capitalized. I like both players, but rooting for Lebron Jr.

I think Tiafoe is pretty thickly built and doesn't have massive muscle development on top of his natural frame. He is ripped though.

Looks don’t matter, but they’re nice. We are all here to watch the tennis. Having a little scenery to look at is just a nice bonus.
