Does anyone think Juan Monaco may be a serious contender at the French Open?

Well, I'm off to shoot myself. I hate tennis for now. Nadal wins a title, then my least favorite of the semifinalists wins. I don't dislike Verdasco, but I'm certainly very, very unhappy about this result

What would you do if Nadal participated this year and won his 6th Barca in a row?

LOL! The ugly Swedeling winning the French Open? My neighbors dog stands a better chance of winning the Spelling Bee contest!

Yes, indeed, what a domination. Now Soderling just needs to model some Calvin Klein underwear and he'll win the French Open.

Don't worry, he'll be back to being a choker in Rome.

Seriously though: Congrats to Verdasco, well done!

Good win 4 Fernando! Sod has nothing 2 b shamed about. He is going 2 b an upset threat in any of the clay tournies. Just has 2 keep his groove going.

I just realized I like Verdasco less for sucking so bad against Nadal last week then playing well against Soderling. My subconscious ftw. Nadal hardly needed to be more overrated though...

Well, in the end, not totally unexpected but still disappointing. I really wanted Soderling to win but congrats to Verdasco on his win. He played the better game.

Congradulations to Verdasco, he deserves it, btw does anyone know whether this will effect Nando's ranking?

I don't even dislike, him, in fact I like him, I just liked the other 3 more, and I will never forgive him for that match against Nadal that made everyone say "The king is back! What a match! How incredible! Those aren't unforced errors, they are Nadal winners in disguise!"

why are people angry/disappointed verdasco won? He played some phenomenal tennis and has showed his consistency now. He has gotten over his top 10 phobia and mentally he is improved so much. Congrats to him he deserved it

Congrats to Verdasco, he's doing very well on clay this year!

@Atherton2003: Is 2003 your year of birth?

I understand what you are saying, but I don't understand why. Why hate Nadal so much that even your opinion on other tennis players are affected by it? I personally support Nadal over Federer any day of the week, but I can appreciate his tennis and him winning doesn't send me into a downward spiral of hate and depression. LOL.

That would be best for his health.
It works both ways though. When Nadal failed last year the composition of the boards changed dramatically as well. Only balanced posters (such as you and I) can ride through tough times and be relatively unaffected when the players we support don't come through.

Congrats to Verdasco, clearly meant alot to him and a great effort coming off reaching the final in Monte Carlo. Really like Verdasco's game, great forehand and he seems a nice guy aswell.

To be fair, Nadal did beat Soderling 0 and 1 on clay before RG last year. Of course, Verdasco will almost certainly not repeat what Soderling did last year at RG.

I could definitely see the semifinals in the cards for him, depending on the draw. Against Murray on clay I would put him as the favorite especially given Murray's recent form. Djokovic is very beatable right now and Del Potro is a major question mark. Plus Verdasco seems to have finally mustered up the ability to beat top 10 players, he's done it four times this year already (Roddick in San Jose, Cilic in Miami, Djokovic in Monte Carlo, Soderling Barca) when last year he only beat two the entire year (Murray and Tsonga AO)

Verdasco has a dream draw in Rome, hopefully he isn't too tired to take advantage of it.

Ok, ok, sorry, I just don't like him. Everyone has a player they can't stand, mine just happens to be high-ranked

Ugh, pretty sorry state for the mens game when a clown like Verdasco who can get only 1 game off Nadal in a 1000 final is able to win a 500 event. Mens tennnis is almost in as bad of shape as womens at the moment.

that is why tennis isn't on t.v. like it used to be back in the 1970's. I hope the game has some new, exciting up-and-comers cause I really enjoyed watching it on t.v. every weekend.
