Fortunately, your mere presence on these forums tells us that Nadal fans can't get banned as well. So, I guess it evens out.Reported (though I know Federer fans can't get banned here lol).
you realize that if Nadal doesn't win the Australian Open you'll look like an idiot?

........................................working on my serve still leaves time for dinner with Kylie
Hi everyone,
The first round is over almost for everyone and that means that already half of the draw is out of the competition. This is the thing about tennis: 128 players were here to start the main draw but after only two days of competition there is only half of the draw left. It went well for me today since I won the match pretty fast. I am sorry for Marcos [Daniel] who had to retire: it is always an uncomfortable situation since I felt bad for him. He is a nice guy and I hope he recovers well and soon.
Since the match didn't last too much and also considering I served not that well at the beginning of the second set, I decided to go out and serve for 30 minutes. I felt well after that and was happy after. I got some rhythm on my serve again.
Rafa
I bought a piece of the court you played on for your foundation - it was a great idea to raise money. Do you have any other fundraising activities planned? - Juliette, UK
Hi Juliette, many thanks for this. I hope you liked the piece and that you are happy. The money is going to a good cause and the foundation will do well for kids. We are planning other things but will let people know.
My question is, what do you like most about being on tour apart from playing tennis? Do you get time to do fun things in the cities you are staying? All the best for the Australian Open! - Jamie
I don't have that much time anymore to visit. I like to go out at night to restaurants and enjoy the food with my team and other players.
Why did you decide to model underwear for Armani? Surely it wasn’t just for the money? Was the photoshoot fun? – Liana, Greece
The shoots are never that much fun, to be honest. I am a tennis player and I like sports, not really photo shoots. I decided to go with Armani since the idea is fun and it is a great brand to be with. Very happy with the decision.
Hola Rafa! I am impressed with the different modes of transport that have been laid on for you to get you to tournament sites. The boat along the Thames to go to the WTF, the helicopter in Toronto, as well as the usual tournament cars. What’s your favourite mode of transport? - Love, Julie
Walking from the house I rent in Wimbledon to the tournament site. Really!
Dear Rafa - I notice that sometimes you train with other players - Feli López, Novak Djokovic etc. Do you ask the other players to train with you or do other people arrange the training sessions for you? Good luck for your first round match! - Qing Qing, China
It depends. Normally I ask other players or they ask me, or Toni takes care of it, or the tournament finds me someone, or the ATP, it depends. Many ways.
Hi Rafa! Congratulations for your amazing 2010 season, I wish you many more like this one! For how many years have you been playing golf? What or who gave you the idea to play golf, and how did you learn? Bonne chance pour l'Open d'Australie! - Mathilde, France
I love to play golf, really enjoy it. I have been playing for some years now and my uncles (Miguel Angel, Rafael and Toni) got me into it.
I noticed Kylie Minogue watched one of your matches at the World Tour Finals. Do you have many famous friends? If so, who do you like to spend time with? – Veronica, New South Wales
Yes she did. She and her boyfriend came to one of my matches. Andres, her boyfriend came for dinner with us one night and he was very nice. I was happy to see them.
Hi Rafa. If you don't mind, I read that you have been with your girlfriend since you were 14. Your sister introduced you, is that true? - Cedrine
Not true. We have been for almost 5 years together and I am 24 turning 25 this year.
Hi Rafa - firstly good luck for the next two weeks at the Australian Open. I am always amazed at your ability to recall stats and scorelines even from matches you played a long time ago. So I'm wondering was this ability to remember things as good when it came to school, like when revising for exams, or is it only good where tennis is concerned? Thank you and again best of luck. - Debbie, Ireland
Hi Debbie, many thanks for your message. Let's hope I am here two weeks. I have a good memory, actually very, very good. I remember almost everything.
Hi Rafa! So you regret buying the Aston Martin.. what about the Harley Davidson, is that also a regret? - Kim, London
I do actually. Regarding the Harley, it is a long story but I still haven't used it! Will let you know.
I ADMIRE your passion for the sport and your constant determination as a player! Your movement on the court will never fail to amaze me! I just want to know though, what it is that you love the most about tennis? And what keeps you motivated as a player? Thank you and good luck for the tournament.
Olivia of Victoria
Rafa: Many thanks, Olivia, for your kind words. I love almost everything in tennis, ’specially the competition. I love to do that and to have that feeling. And the motivation comes to be a better player so that I can compete at the highest level, improve and win.
Rafa how much weight training do you do?
Oliver
Not much. Only some specific program to help on my movements and compensation. But not much. Most of my practise is on court and some very short and specific programs to help me improve movements and prevent injuries.
Who is your favourite women's tennis player?
Patrick, Victoria
Kim Clijsters, Ana Ivanovic and the Spanish players.
You are so calm on those tough points. Do you meditate?
Eva R
I am not sure what you mean by meditate. But I do think a lot about matches and points.
When did you decide you were going to completely devote yourself to becoming a successful & professional tennis player?
Kali Fabiatos
When I was around 12 or 13. Had to chose between football and tennis since I didn't have enough time to practise both.
As a huge fan of yours, I was wondering, would you ever consider writing an autobiography? And if so, what would you call it?
Sam Leaman, Launceston, Tasmania
Yes. Stay tuned.
Hi Rafa, you rock. Does music play a big part in your life? What is your favourite song on your ipod?
B and H Munro, Melbourne
Yes I love music, I listen to it all the time. But I wouldn't be able to tell you just one song. I have many, especially Spanish speaking music.
How do you get such a top spin forehand? I try to practise evey day but I cannot get as much top spin as you get.
Chris Cutajar . Deer Park
I don't know. I suppose with time you get it. But I have no secret. Hit it hard and strong, maybe?
Rafa, who taught you your mental toughness!
Billy
You work every detail of the game and the mental part also. It is an excise you do since you are a kid and also something you work at practice.
During your down-time off the court; do you ever think about how your life will be after tennis and in the near future?
Roanna Sanelli, Victoria
No, not really.
Do you still think Roger Federer is the man to beat? The way you are playing at the moment you look unbeatable.
Kevin Smith, Melbourne
Yes.
I went past the tennis precinct on late Friday night (around 2am) and saw many players training with their support staff. Is it normal for players to train this late, and what times do you prefer?
Navee Sandhu, Rowville
I have never seen that. 2am! It is too late even for me.
You think Nadal winning the AO or not has any bearing on that?
John Carlin: De Mandela a Rafa Nadal

John Carlin, from Mandela to Rafa Nadal
John Carlin followed Nelson Mandela for years to write his story, the story of a whole country, first in newspaper articles and then in a book that was made into a Hollywood movie. Carlin is now following Rafael Nadal, a tennis player who is already much more than a tennis player.
DPA • Translated by nou.amic
Carlin, a distinguished British journalist who was a correspondent in Mexico and South Africa, has worked in Argentina and writes for newspapers both in England and Spain, described in 'The Human Factor' the intimate details behind the end of apartheid in South Africa. The book was made into a film directed by Clint Eastwood entitled 'Invictus'.
How far will the Nadal story go? That is still an unknown factor, though it looks promising. The only thing that is certain is that Carlin is in Melbourne, immersing himself completely in the Australian Open, taking down every detail, speaking to the protagonists and following Nadal everywhere he goes.
While not an official biography, it is one of those situations where the writer has the invaluable help of the protagonist: free access to all the nooks and situations inaccessible to the average person, and even to 99% of journalists.
With access to his privacy guaranteed, there will be juicy material for Carlin on Nadal, who is turning into a present day icon, a young man who has gone beyond tennis and sport to become a social phenomenon. "Little kids love him. The adore him, it's crazy," says Croat Ivan Ljubicic, ex president of the ATP players' council who knows the two greats of modern tennis, Nadal and Roger Federer, well.
"He is so nice, so polite, that it's very difficult to fight with him," says Czech Tomas Berdych, who some years ago had public confrontations with the Spaniard. "That's over and done with, we were both very young."
There is no way to get players these days to make even the slightest criticism of Nadal or Federer. There is total admiration for their tennis and respect for them personally.
Nadal is increasingly in command of all situations. This Tuesday, after he defeated Brazilian Marcos Daniel (who retired) in the first round at the Australian Open, he was presented with the ITWA annual award for the player who gives the international tennis correspondents the best attention. "I'll do my best," was his rapid jocular reply when someone told him he now had to 'defend his title', as he had lost the award to Federer in 2009 after winning it in 2008. It is difficult for him not to remember his manners, even when he does not like everything he is hearing...
Federer praised Nadal's new serve in an interview published on Monday in the Australian newspaper The Age, but he added one doubt: "What I'm asking myself is why he hasn't served like that all his life?". Nadal swallowed his feelings as he replied: "Why? Because it's not as easy for me as it is for him, I need more time to do things. The change in my serve works well, but that doesn't mean it'll work well for the rest of my life."
Whatever happens, whether he serves well or badly, goes on winning or not, Nadal already has 'his' book in the pipeline. Whether the story ends up in Hollywood, only time will tell.

Thanks Babbette (hug)To be honest I think Rafa likes blondes. In clips I see him glancing a lot at blondes. If he breaks up with xisca his next gf might be a blonde. Or like many men he sees blondes as fun and brunettes as settle down types
Yeah I remember the camilla belle. Rafa gets on with anyone spanish. I still wonder what happened in the plane with penelope cruz and javier bardem. To me javier and penelope are like an older version of rafa and xisca. do you see the resemblance with xisca to penelope?
I like your poem it is good. You never know, fingers crossed.
Herald Sun
Amazing, right? He's starting to feel more comfortable and secure around private enquiries. He used to be super defensive. Nice change. I have no idea where that crazy rumor came from though. I've always known Xisca appeared in the picture in 2006 and not before.OH EM GEE He actually answered a Xisca question! LOL
You can't possibly get banned ever. You're one of the nicest posters here.Banned for what? I'm one of the only posters who follow the rules
Unlike most of you I post about tennis, and that's a rarity form most of you trolls (why are you even in the Nadal News Thread exactly?).
btw the matchup I want to see most in this event is Rafa vs Del Potro.
Thanks Babbette (hug)
I don't see the ressemblance between Xisca and Penelope. To be completely honest, I find Xisca 100%, no let me rephrase that: 200% devoid of any sensuality. She's dainty, good looking, nice, sweet, classy, whatever you want to call her but she would have to hit the minus 50 in the sensuality department. I also see 0 physical chemistry between Rafa and her (like coupling a hot pepper with an ice cube), although I think they're extremely compatible in every other area.
Actually, Rafa answered that question himself. Asked if he preferred brunettes or blondes, he answered: I like them both. I totally believe him and I don't blame him either: hard to make a choice between Penelope and Charlize! (the 2 women he cited as his favorite actresses).
And guess who Camilla was seen fooling around with, just after the Rafa pictures? That shouldn't be hard right? Of course, the initials are F.V. (wink).
NSK, could you stop taking everything for granted, please? You don't have a crystal ball.
Oh vero I do love your brutal honesty Fernando always goes after Rafa's sloppy seconds. Ana, Caroline hehe. If Rafa drops xisca, watch out. 8) I never read the bits where he says Cruz is his favorite actress. Last brunette I read was his fave was Zeta Jones, before that J-lo lol. Thanks Babbette (hug)

Ah gee  Courier has always courted Rafa in the most embarrassing way. Remember his "why do you keep moving away from me?" complaint, at the AO as well? I was like "what the...?"

Btw, Ana Ivanovic as one of his face wta players?? Lol you know he's basing that answer on friendship.:-?
Don't forget that commies always go on about his mannerisms: oh look at him jumping like a boxer, look at him running to baseline after the toss, I wonder if he will lose focus if they kick his bottles...aarrrrYes! i was thinking the same. Finally no more, how long have they been together nonsense. Although PMac will still say that. He seems to say the same things again and again. Everytime Rafa wins, he goes i wonder why he bites the trophy. I'm like really guys?? You still don't know? Rafa has answered that one like 10000 times.
LMAO I was like fav wta player, eh?
I can confirm the Cruz thing, he did say that.
You're the only obnoxious person I see in this thread actually. You're like the #1 parasite around here, ranting against Rafa nonstop. Why don't you go to the "Fed news" thread and let the Rafa fans have their funcant you see that nobody likes you here? not only youre a complete joke but youre proving it by everything you write, take your toys and go play somewhere else

Camilla Belle-Hollywood "actress"
cant you see that nobody likes you here? not only youre a complete joke but youre proving it by everything you write, take your toys and go play somewhere else

Meg, I think it was IW 2007, don't remember.

Actually, this is a very shrewd observation. Even in 2004/2005 lots of folks watching Nadal wondered why he doesn't serve harder. We also had a camp in '07 where Nadal's and Fed's shots are analyzed, and our coach questioned on how come someone with such a great overhead and shoulder strength serves so slow; the service motion was awkward. Nadal always possessed a LOT of power. Even at 17-18 he could hit a high bouncing inside out forehand at close to 100 mph and his overheads were also awesome.
That's why I always wonder whether Nadal would have done much better with a specialist coach such as Cahill, Roche, Annacone etc. Tony trained him mentally for sure, but sometimes I wonder about the technique..
Wow! You didn't know Camilla. She has like the most beautiful smoky eyes in the history of timeGoogled her, she's a hottie! When was this pic taken?
Rafa, the creature of habit has made it clear plenty of times that changing any members of his team or adding is a complete no no at the moment. But I wonder if uncle toni thinks about it at times. I think there was an article with toni mentioning talking about adding another coach? I just don't remember. I don't remember much todayActually, this is a very shrewd observation. did I ask you something? mummy didnt teach you to keep your mouth shut when not asked?
I'm sorry but nsk is harmless, compared to P_Agony and aphex. THEY need to take your advice.
She taught me to fight bullies and you're bullying people for no good reason.did I ask you something? mummy didnt teach you to keep your mouth shut when not asked?
Rafa also works with Toni Colom but that's not someone new at all. He worked with him as a child already.Rafa, the creature of habit has made it clear plenty of times that changing any members of his team or adding is a complete no no at the moment. But I wonder if uncle toni thinks about it at times. I think there was an article with toni mentioning talking about adding another coach? I just don't remember. I don't remember much today
when you said "nobody" you included everybody so she had a right to reply.
Btw, for anybody not interested in reading banter there is some Rafa news a page back
Yep. It has been discussed before. I think the biggest issue is the language barrier for a specialist coach with Nadal.I wonder this too. I think he should maybe add a co-coach. I don't see it happening though.
ATP party. Next to Camilla is Sharapova. They're very good friends.
During the infamous Nadal foot injury in late 2006/early 2007 - Toni foolishly conceded to the press, that this injury could derail Nadal's career in the long term and it was a serious danger. Nadal was obviously, irked, he denied all this to the BBC and said it was just a small thing.Rafa, the creature of habit has made it clear plenty of times that changing any members of his team or adding is a complete no no at the moment. Wrong, they, just like me, are counterpunchers, we don't critisize when not provoked. I only respond to the bulls..
NSK produces the biggest crap here even though nobody forces him to. That's the difference.
I think she said something about Camilla wanting to meet Rafa at the time.
P_Agony and Aphex's comments make me want to punch something.
Yep. P_Agony thinks that Nadal wasn't injured against Murray in AO 2010 QF, and retired because Murray broke him That's one of the most ridiculous thing I've ever read.
Then Drakulie says Nadal was never injured. He thinks that Nadal was practicing when he withdrew from Queens/Wimbledon in 2009, because he saw a 2 yr old clip of Nadal training on TV. LOL!!
There's another one T_Brady - that poster hates Nadal and wants him sick/injured and retired ASAP.
It seems that Federer fans absolutely hate Nadal where as Nadal fans are just indifferent to Federer (or as in my case actually like him).
LMFAOOO! Ya I'm sure aphex was provoked to start his 2-3 threads about how useless Rafa is. Or P_agony was "provoked" to come in the Nadal vs Daniel thread, and make a cheater comment out of nowhere. Yup. Real counterpunchers those two. NSk's comments are hilarious and facepalm worthy. P_Agony and Aphex's comments make me want to punch something.
I blame all women who are young and beautiful enough to capture Rafa's attention. There are WAY too many of them :evil:I don't blame her
Im not following their comments day and night, even if youre right, still at least IM a counterpuncher. You never see me jump on Nadal out of nowhere

Reportedly, at that time Toni offered to resign as Nadal's coach, but Nadal did not accept. Finally, Nike+ made a special foot-sole for Nadal and customized shoes (half a size smaller) and all has been fine ever since
Listen to what babbette had suggested.
Thank you.
oh yes I remember that interview.
Rafa news 2 pages back for anybody not wanting banter, lol
Maybe we should pull a VB and start a "Rafa News only, no comments" thread.
