Guaranteed match-up after Roger won a set (according to skysport anyway). This is a big one.

Nope, not guaranteed.

If Del Potro wins today and Ferrer loses, Del Potro wins the group. Maybe guys from skysport assume that Ferrer will beat Tipsarevic.

Can you blame them? If this is the matchup tho, id say murray in 2. I think murray is playing too good to let an average federer beat him.

Ferrer beating the Tipsy in the form he this week is 100 percent guarantee.

I would put some money on Ferrer.

If this match ends up not happening, just let the thread die (of course). Foolish of me to believe the commentator without researching the scenarios myself.

Who do you think Federer has a better chance of beating, guys? Is it Murray or Djokovic?

I'm on the fence with this one, Djokovic is a better match-up for Federer but he's in great form this tournament, Murray on the other hand is always tough for Federer in best-of-3-set matches on a hard court (Federer has won their last 2 meetings at the WTF in London, though).

I'd still go with Djokovic.

I'll go with Murray. I expect Murray to choke on MP....and inevitably lose the match in the end.

Djokovic just seems ruthless....if Federer can manage that one....I bet he won't have energy to beat Murray.

Murray 6-3 6-2, he's not in the best of forms but is solid enough to beat a below-par Federer comfortably.

I mean, wait till Ferrer beats Tipsarevic, lolz.

In a Federer-Djokovic match-up I'd go with Djokovic 6-4 6-4.

Murray in straights, no doubt about it.
Fed definitely had a better chance of beating Djoker. Of late, I feel Fed is somehow more confident/more motivated to beat Djoker than Murray.
I hope Delpo makes the final now that Ferrer is out.

Neither, sadly. :(

Roger Federer in two

I have faith in Federer. I remember I was vouching for his win in Wimbledon and now also I feel the same. Roger will win this the 7th time. I don't care past, and I am sure he will bring a better performance in semi final

I don't understand why del potro advances over ferrer if they both have 1 loss. Ferrer beat del potro so it's ridiculous.

I think you're wrong. Ferrer has only had 1 match won so far (Delpo). If he loses to Tipsy, he will end up with 1 win/2 losses. And Delpo will have 2 wins/1 loss. Then it would be perfectly normal that Delpo would qualify over Ferrer. If Ferrer wins vs Tipsy, he will have one win in straights, one win in 3 and one loss in straights vs Delpo: one win in straights, one win in 3 BUT one loss IN 3. I agree with you, I hate the RR system but if you follow its logic, then it has to be Delpo over Ferrer.

Ferrer has no chance to qualify at all though, even if he beats Tipsy in straight sets.

Yep, I amended my post explaining why it is normal (according to RR logic) that Delpo would qualify either way.

But Del Potro beat Federer. And Federer beat Ferrer. And they all have one loss.

If Ferrer beats Tipsarevic in straights, he'll be 4-3 in sets. Del Potro is at 5-3, Federer 5-2. They both have better records, so they both advance over Ferrer.

So it's the sets thing? What if they were both 2-1 with the same amount of sets ?

Fed has one loss too and in a 3 way tie the sets and games matter , not the h2h.

wonder if ferrer will tank to punish fed Haha.

Ferrer tanking. Fed will play Djoko. You'd better erase this thread now.

This is a lesson to never make threads before you're 100 % sure a match will happen
Well, I was 100% sure. I was also 100% misguided and 100% wrong. It's not like I started this thread a week ago just so I could be first. C'est la vie.

I had some respect for how Ferrer fights. If he had a bad day then acceptable.

Losing to a dizzy 40 percent Tipsarevic because he can't play in the SF.

Lost all respect for Ferrer.

They shoul have put Ferrer Tipsy first.....so he won't tank.

i see Ferrer has read this thread in one of the time breaks and clearly has decided to change his mind.

All andrew castle got is praising Murray and dissing Federer, worse commentator i've seen and complete Murrraytard. I mean it's fine being a fan but you need to be neutral when commentating, no?

Both who? Federer, del Potro, and potentially Ferrer are all 2-1, so it goes to sets.

If only Ferrer and del Potro were 2-1, Ferrer would go through with the head-to-head advantage.

If Ferrer loses against Tipsarevic, then only Federer and del Potro will have gone 2-1, so del Potro advances first, Federer second, due to the head-to-head.

If there are three people tied, and the sets won tiebreaker doesn't decide, then it goes to games won.

andrew castle is a bit vomit making, yes..and his incessent chatter and whining voice dont help either,

castle even tried to suggest to tim henman that federer might chuck the delpotro match to try and avoid murray in the semi
