So Daniel what's the official word on Harrison's sticks? Did Harry dump the Tour and go back to the LTD?

Knew that the Luxilon experiment is over - but over the last two days in ATL it looks like from court side he is back with the PS LTD?

Or is it a prototype under the PS paint?

Back to LTD with PHT & VS. If he tests new frames, will be in the off season.

I think you guys knocked it out of the park with the new APD. The older versions and some PD's I tried out had a "tinny" feel on mishits but I have not experienced that with the 2013 APD. I'm playing the APD + with 18g Blast @ 57 pds and really loving it. Extremely maneuverable, stable, and controllable power. It's solid in every facet of the game for me.

Came over from a Youtek IG Pretige Pro and I won't say the APD is that plush but it's plenty comfortable and has a sweetspot the size of the grand canyon compared to the Prestige. It's just a lot less work and making my court time a little more enjoyable.

Great advise on strings by the way. Refreshing to see a company official admit you can't have you cake and eat it to. Poly is great fresh but loses is favorable characteristics very quickly. I refuse to play with poly with more than 8 hours on it. Save your arm and cut that dead poly out folks! I spent one year on the DL rehabbing from surgery for a torn labrum. 3 metal suture anchors were drilled into the bone to reattach the labrum. Fresh poly I don't feel even the slightest twinge. Dead poly feels like a ball peen hammer is tapping my shoulder with every strike of the ball.

Prestige Pro is a great stick. We had a fling and it was fun while it lasted. Free power and spin is great if you can control it.

Spot on on your other points. I'm even trying to get into the hybrid world, and I pop RPM 17 every 8-14 hours.

For every advantage, there is a drawback.

Glad you're in the family!

Great thread! Thanks for all of your insider info 'Babolat Official'.

Played with Pure Drive since the 'Team' model.

Couple of quick questions if you have the time:

How long will the PD GT French Open model be available?

For greater control with aggressive swings (compared to the PD), would you recommend a switch to APD or PS? (300g models)

Will there be a PD version of the Babolat Play?

Will Babolat ever offer a 300g unstrung racket with 18/20 string pattern?

Lots of questions, thanks for any feedback!

1. great stick
2. whatever stores have of the PD RG is it, special cosmetic and we are not making more
3. more pinpoint control = PS. more spin = APD. Demo Demo Demo
4. yes
5. new line coming 2014, you're onto something...
6. thanks for the kind words, if I ever miss a post or don't respond within a couple days, my apologies. always feel free to email me dbecker@babolat.com

Daniel, I've been having an issue with my apdplus 2013.

I have always been a one handed backhand player from the beginning and a few weeks ago I started training in advanced lessons where people hit quiet hard.
For some reason I have a pain in the shoulder since then trying to follow up with the class, specially when I do the 1HBH motion.

Could it be that the racquet length, stiffness or any other variable is not the best suited for a 1HBH? I have been considering demoing the Pure Storm line..

what string are you using?

has increase in pace from players greatly affected where you are hitting the ball and how clean?

I'm french and read something on a french forum about a line which the name is Strike for 2014? Can you say more about this? Real or false information?

I can confirm this. I was told it will be called the Strike my Babolat rep. I have also hit with the racquet, funnily it has bumps on the inside of the throat like the Graphene Speed.

I'm guessing you hit with a blacked out prototype? the final racket is not in the US yet (or even in our warehouse).

I play with the new APD and I think it plays stiffer than the old one. But I get a little more control from that so I like it. I do think it flexes more than the PD (but some on the board don't feel the same).

The new line will be more of a classic/hybrid frame. We'll start releasing info on it in the next couple months. It will be in between the APD/PD and PS lines.

Might be worth waiting to demo.

so Daniel, by old are you referring to the first APD without cortex, supossedly the rkt Rafa still uses. I have one in great condition and thinking of restringing and giving it a whirl, but before I do curious to your thoughts on the newest APD(your rkt) and the first APD. For me big serve and forehand key, also playing a lot of doubles 55 and older, 4.0 level; so return game big, if I serve big and employ my forehand and return big my volleys only have to be mediocre. So your thoughts, currently using Head youtes Ig extreme pro 2.0
Thanks for your thoughts

Hi Daniel,

I recently purchased a Pure Drive Lite. I think its a great racquet. It doesn't feel all that stiff though, even though the Babolat website states that its stiffness is 72. Do you think the website has incorrect information, or is there some sort of magic under the hood that makes a really stiff racquet not feel so stiff?

Reason I ask is, I switched from the normal Pure Drive and Aero Pro Drive models due to their stiffness effects on my arm. It's just strange that the PD Lite doesn't have this issue.

Thanks!

don't get too caught up in the numbers. how it feels in your hand is most important. the "stiffness feel" of a racquet can vary depending on game, string, etc.

Enjoy!

I'm referring to the 2010 (previous model). You can always string it up and give it a try. If it feels better...great. If not, you won't be thinking about it. And if you're like me, you're usually always thinking about tweaking something.

Remember, with any tennis product (string, racket, shoe, ball, grip) for every advantage, there is a disadvantage. Play test it out and weigh your options accordingly.

I'm using poly, Kirschbaum Pro line II, 52lbs

My swing is getting a little forced, sometimes I hit the ball late, and sometimes I don't get to impact the ball with the sweet spot.

Anyway, today I went to a Physiotherapist and she said I should
-Correct my technique(She is an ex pro and pointed me out about hitting late)
-Warm up before trainings with minitennis
-Stretching after. Received some massages and resonance to reduce the inflamation of tendons.

Maybe 2014 to be announced release might be good news for me??

This is one of the projects that Babolat had the pros testing late last year.
Daniel can give you more exact info. but that prototype has been changed quite a few times since then.

Getting the racquet right is important for every player but if Jo can put everything together for 2 weeks, he has shown he is a huge threat at Slams.

Unfortunately he still needs to win a Masters & his latest injury will hamper that...

Looking forward to testing a few frames in December, January:)

I'm not a doctor, so I'll defer to your medial professional. Strong technique, soft string...if that doesn't help, it might be time to explore other frames.

Yes have strung it up and hit off machine and like but question most of us at TW have two of same and I only have one original APD so my question can you compare anyone of the current APDs being sold at TW to the old. any come close?

Same frame design and static weight, different feel and swing weight. The degree to how different is subjective to the user

So thanks for your time I am seeking your opinion as to what current model most closely matches the old APD ( without cortex). This would at least establish a demo starting point. I could infer many things from your general reply they are all equal and only feel matters or not. So to to rephrase I am asking in your opinion what current APD plays most similar to old

the 2010 (previous mode)

however, we have not sold them in over a year, so you'll have to check with specific retailers on stock

Great Photo of Jo!
Yes, I meant this year!
How could I forget Paris...

Really had hoped he might crunch another Masters this year & this leg injury
will derail him.

pun not intended...BUT no intent to derail this thread:)

...new "AERO"racquet range is really perfect pitch for a player like Jo , Jerzy, or even Steve Johnson.

The 2 new racquets wave will be a beauty & is very exciting for Babolat fans.
I know from your posts Lukhas you are a Babolat fan.

I am personally looking forward to testing the new "Storm" incarnation.

I think both will be an interesting development at the Oz Open.
Some lucky players won't have to wait that long...:)

I know some of you may get frustrated with the Babolat method of whispering their message but they like to tell their story softly & release information in waves & not as a waterfall...or tsunami!

Not really, but if it can avoid being as unstable and powerless as a Radical while not having the ultra soft head of a Pure Storm, it may be worth a demo really. Wothout the almost even balance of a Blade too, needs more HL. Sounds interesting indeed.

from what you have written, a bit hard to please!:)

getting somewhere between a Radical, Storm & a Blade is a big challenge! It is always worth hitting with new frames.

You can then customise them with your personal strings, grips, balance etc.

Don't forget that if you change too many variables...it can be confusing.:)

Well, a more stable Storm with a less soft head will do. :)

Got some news on the "Pure Stryke". Fount the infos on another French tennis forum.
3 models, 2 in 98in² and one in 100in², weight going from 280grams to 320grams. Very think beam (like Fisher Vaccum or Major X-One for old guys), cosmetics are mate black with fluo orange inserts.

Bummer, though they would be green (red, blue, yellow, green, quite different). but at least, they're not looking like the AD, which was kind of a fail in PJ from Babolat, making very different frames look similar.

If the 100 is 300g with a stiffness of 65 to 67, with a 16 x 19 pattern, might be very tempting.

Nope. It took me a while to get used to it. But it grows on you. Or maybe it doesn't.

Its a shame in my opinion, wont deter me from buying a Babolat racket though haha. When I look at the new stencil I think of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the scene with the legendary black beast of ahhhhh!

The guy must have died while stenciling!!!
