This is it for Djokovic :(

I'm really depressed to see him loose but I think this is it guys. I don't see Djokovic beating Nadal anymore and won't be winning any more slams. Real sad, sad day, felt like crying after this match. Even though Nadal says Djokovic is the only one who brings out the best of Tennis out of him and quiet surprised how he can even loose against Djokovic, I can't see Djokovic winning anything anymore with Rafa's form and mentality right now against Djokovic.

Way too many errors and Djokovic just can't be consistent anymore. He was playing fantastic in the 2nd set and early 3rd set where he had Nadal on the ropes then he just dropped his level and Nadal pounced. There's that mentality again.

Quoting from Mustard's post in the 2013 final thread.

2012 Monte Carlo F: Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic (6-3, 6-1)
2012 Rome F: Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic (7-5, 6-3)
2012 French Open F: Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic (6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5)

2013 Monte Carlo F: Novak Djokovic def. Rafael Nadal (6-2, 7-6)
2013 French Open SF: Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic (6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-7, 9-7)
2013 Montreal SF: Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic (6-4, 3-6, 7-6)
2013 US Open F: Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic (6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1)

These results are looking worse and worse for my guy. This might be the end of Djokovic's career. :(

What do you guys think? Djokovic fans and Nadal fans alike.

Meh, he's not that far, atleast he's still losing to the best and the match today was a lot closer than the score indicates.

I have faith he'll start playing better in big matches again, besides he won a slam this year (in addition to reaching 2 slam finals), how can you be that unhappy as a fan? What about fans of player who never won a slam in their life? Or won only one?

Basically, I think Nadal has destroyed Nole as he did Federer. In other words, no more Majors for Nole unless he doesn't have to face Nadal along the way.

It'll be tough to digest for a few days but Novak has the game to do great things in the sport.

Mentally, however, it's gonna take a miracle to win another slam I think.

I mean that.

Djokovic is still reaching consecutive semifinals/finals.
He can still win more slams, especially AO.
He's like near unbeatable there.

Not me, he's Djokovic of old in the head. He seriously needs to consult with his team and do something to change this.

No, it's not. It's just an off season. Still his consistency has been admirable (the best). He's going through a slump like 2010 but for different reasons. He'll figure it out.

Don't be sad.
Nole played tennis no good player could be ashamed of in this final.

He won't always face the same opponent.
He will win again.

Dude chill out. Novak will be back. 2011 and the 7-month injury absence was complete and utter hell for Rafa fans like myself, and you know what? He came back and dominated. Novak is cut from the same cloth as a warrior, he'll come back from this.

Novak will come back eventually, when he's no longer the focus of attention and has nothing to lose he'll go for it. Today he showed he has the game to completely destroy Nadal yet he didn't have the consistency today. Mental approach can be changed, Djokovic is far from done.

That's 2 finals now, in a row. Wimbledon and USO open. From his perspective Novak it's going to be really tough for him to take him, especially if you add the French Open in there too. If he had the mentality he would be here sitting with 3 majors this year but now it seems like Nadal has turned the tide, even on Djokovic's best surface.

I don't know what mindset Djokovic will go in the AO 2014 but I don't think it will be a confident one. Shame really, hate to see his mind shatter like this now :(

Hopefully it's just that. I shouldn't really be making these allegations, I myself ain't in the best shape mentally right now lol.

Wow, no. Was 2011 the end of Rafa? Nole will be back and I have a feeling he will strike back against Rafa next year. These two take turns having streaks against one another.

Well Nole can win more Majors, it's just that I don't see him going through Nadal to do so. I doubt he stops at 6 but then again I wouldn't be too surprised if he did.

Please have more faith in the top guys. Novak will come back roaring. The AO is up next, and that is his stomping grounds.

It's always just a few key points here or there when Novak and Rafa play. Novak is not too far off.

He now needs to go to Tibet, shave his head, and do some mental re-thinking. 6:12 in slam finals..ughhhh. He had all 3 in bag (RG, W, and now US)...mentally he checked out early (esp W). As a fan and countryman I am saddened, but he is 26 and I has time to get back to '11 mentality.

All year we've seen this since MC, and I wrote about it...his mental game is the problem at crucial moments. He has little to prove to the world, but he knows he can do more.

God that 2nd set and start of 3rd.... he is by FAR the most entertaining player to watch. I'll keep cheering for him!

I know. It's a very tough loss for Novak but Rafa is a beast right now. Let the storm pass. Djoko will have opportunities again, you'll see.

You have to remember Djokovic is (only) 26 and still has plenty of time to win more majors. I think there are still many more to come for him, I mean 3 slam finals and the other a SF this year, and winning one. Djok has more left in him tan that. :)

I still think Djokovic's physical game is there but the mentality isn't. Can anyone imagine loosing 2 finals in a row (semi final in the FO where he had the game in the bag too) going to the AO 2014 with a confident mentality? Especially when he has been loosing a lot against his #1 opponent Nadal in the last games, on his best surface too.

Don't know man but my mind at the moment feels like Djokovic's right now :(

Novak tried to look okay after the match but you can tell how he was feeling inside when he was gritting his jaw, proper pain :(

Sigh...

Of course he'll win more slams. Bar Murray and Nadal, he bullies the rest of the field. If he starts losing to bums, that's the time to start worrying.

Well Nadal does. These two keep pushing each other and raising each other's game. Novak will be back for revenge next season, you'll see.

Why are you depressed to see him lose? He won the AO this year and has played several great matches with Wawrinka, Murray, Delpo, Nadal, and a few others.

I would get pretty bored if I saw the same player win a significant amount of matches throughout the calendar year.

Novak is a great player and I am amazed people are writing him off. He will end up with 10+ slams. It is very fine margins that separate him from Rafa.

Same was said about Nadal after Wimbledon 2011, USO 2011, AO 2012, Wimbledon 2012 ...

Enough said. Stop overreacting.

I know he has had great matches but the point I'm trying to make is that these losses are occurring regulary against his #1 opponent. As I quoted from Mustard's quote, the losses are getting worse and worse, especially when Novak is in the driving seat and all of a sudden his level drops and goes back playing as a set #1 player.

At the moment I can think off so many crucial moments he has has, break points and everything and just failed to capitalize or keep his serve against Nadal. <<< That's what I mean and if this keeps happening, I don't see Djokovic winning anymore majors as long as Rafa is there. Rafa has a much bigger mentality now.

But we shall see. Even if Djokovic remains at 6 majors I will always be a fan on his no matter what but it just sucks to see this stuff lol

No....Miracle. He won at least 1 a year. I expect him to beat Nadal a few more times at majors.

Nadal might win the next few ones but we all know Djokovic is sowing the seeds of destruction in Nadal body.

Sometimes having to go back to the drawing board is a blessing in disguise. In sports, one is dead if one becomes complacent. One has to be able to question one's game, technique, strategy, beliefs in order to move on. Tough but necessary.

Nadal said that Djoker brings his game to the limit like no one else ever does. He also said that Djoker will be one of the best of all time by the time his career is over (which means Nadal expects him to win more slams).

Nadal predicted that Murray would win slams for sure and he was right so I would listen to him.

In reality these two guys (Nadal/Djoker) are close with everyone else far behind (unless Murray brings his A+ game). A few points here and there and the match could have ended differently.

Don't despair mate, there is a lot more great tennis to come!

Nah, he will still be a top player for years to come, but I don't think he will have that much grand slam success in the future. The AO is the only slam now in which Djokovic doesn't falter and Nadal plays great on that surface as well.

Do you think Djokovic will pounce back against Nadal in 2014? Considering you are a Nadal fan, what are your thoughts? Or will Nadal dominate Djokovic in 2014?

Hard to say. Tonight, Djokovic played his absolute worse tennis as the stats will tell. He never should have lost that 3rd set but oh well. The man is exhausted. Nadal is refreshed. But now Nadal won't have an 8 month vacation so it will be very interesting to see Nadal go through the pain and rigorous torturous grind of the tennis tour in 2014 the same way Djokovic has been doing. Things are going to heat up very soon. :)

I guess we also wondered if Nadal would ever win a non-clay title ever again back in late 2010.

I'm a Nadal/Djoko fan. Not the most comfortable position right now lol. I still feel that Djoko has the best chance at beating Nadal. If he can't, no one else can. I hope Novak can see that and doesn't get too destroyed by this loss. As long as Novak continues making finals, he will have chances to win them. That's what I was saying about Rafa in 2011 and how schizo do I feel saying the exact same thing about Novak in 2013!! I am not saying that Novak will ever match Fedal records. That would be too unrealistic but he will know glorious moments again, maybe not this season but I can't believe he's done. He's a great player and a great competitor.

yes, and djokovic has that new coach in his team who only joined up a few weeks ago,

so he will have some fresh ideas going forward.

Do you think Nadal will maintain this exact form and confidence forever though? He's in a great place mentally. But it all can change quickly as it always does with every player.
