The h2h may look awful for Ferrer at 20-5 for Nadal but believe it or not, he leads on hard courts 4-3 AND won his last 2 matches against Nadal on this surface very comfortably (including the one today). This seems like the only match in his group A that Nadal can lose.

Nadal will win at the WTF, (I predict Nadal in 3) but he didn't tank today, he just got outplayed. Nadal is also very capable of losing any match on an indoor HC. Let's not overrate him here.

Rafa would not tank like he did today no matter how well Ferru plays. Rafa in 2 :)

RNadal in 3. The conditions suit DFerrer much more than it does for RNadal, but RNadal is much better player.

Ferrer leads the hard court h2h 4-3 after today's match. He beat Nadal today. So, he the favorite, no?

Rafa will need to play aggressively, make right decisions in important moments, serve well, get the forehand DTL to click, to have a chance against Daveed.

This will be a huge challenge for RNadal.

It doesn't matter because Rafa will beat the other guys in his group, handily (so, he's guaranteed to qualify :). The only 3 players who could have troubled him other than Ferrer are on the other side...).

No, veroniquem, every match will be very tough for Rafa. Time to be humble like him;)
Daveed, Berdych and Wawrinka are good players, each of them is the favourite against Nadal, no? It's indoors, so...will be very tough, will need to play with high intensity, make right decisions in right moments....blah blah :)

Oh sure but Berdy is totally helpless vs Rafa (when was the last time he beat him?) and Wawa has never taken a single set off of Rafa. On any surface. Rafa 's game is lethal for 1 handed bhs. I believe :)

David Ferrer is the favourite, no? He beat Nadal convincingly in Paris. Rafa will have to be at his best to have any chance, no?

Every point will be a battle. To play against Ferrer at the O2 will be a huge challenge for Rafa. He will need to serve well, return well, do everything right to have a chance.

Why would be Ferrer hated? He has been almost harmless to the Big 4 and when he won sometimes, he rather gained support.

With Berdych playing crap and Stan with injury concerns, I can't see Rafa not getting the No.1 ranking.

Not saying he wouldn't beforehand but he can now play crap and win.

Very rarely do we see Nadal beaten twice in a row by the same player (except for Novak).I expect Rafa to win in two tight sets.7-5 6-4

That's not crazy at all. People are just dismissing it because of all this pigeon crap, but it's Nadal worst surface and probably Berdych's best. It could very well happen.

I agree. The question is which is greater - Nadal's mental advantage over these guys or the struggles on indoor hardcourts? Obviously, his matchup and mental advantage over Federer is not a factor in this setting. But, Berdych, Ferrer and Wawrinka are not Federer. So, can they overcome that and take advantage of favorable conditions against Nadal?

Let's say Ferrer can continue his success against Nadal in this setting. Suddenly that puts a lot of pressure on Rafa to win both of the other matches - if he loses to Stan or Berdych, suddenly he could be on the outside looking in, and possibly not end up as the year end #1, right?

Nothing is a certainty when Nadal is indoors. But, I'd still bank on him to go 2-1 at worst and make the SF.

I certainly hope Nadal wins this match because his hard court head-to-head against Ferrer is a stain on his legacy.
