I don't see Cal beating UCLA or USC, but taking the doubles point is not exactly out of the question in any college match between two good teams. Doubles is quick and painful. A double fault at the wrong time, the other team keeps holding serve, and you lose. I would not put money on any college match between top 20 teams being 7-0 just for that reason.

TCU is not a Top20 team...also they are a bit too low on #43 right now. This was a great fought win for Cal...but their own ranking on #20 tells enough, they were a lot higher before...but i do not see any wins anymore vs better ranked teams (and i am a cal fan !!!)

TCU has not beaten anyone aside of FSU, also they ve a lots of tough losses , 3-4 vs Cal, 3-4 vs Tulsa, 2-4 vs Texas and 3-4 vs UNC, 2-4 vs Florida. Win one or 2 of them and they would ve been Top20.

Barely in the top 16 now. It is very vital to stay in the top 16 so we can host. If we finish 17 or 18 the ITA committee will screw us because of location and instead of sending us somewhere like Kentucky where we can easily win, they will send us to UCLA or USC .

if they stay top 20 they will not play at usc or ucla...!!! Would be a overseeding for that region.
if i would be the ITA/NCAA i will send them to College Station, Texas, together with VCU or Tulsa and a weaker 4th team

The Bears played pretty hella well imo. McLachlin has a hella nice one hander and took the 2nd set from Marcos.

Some of the score lines in the USC match weren't horrible. McLachlan split sets at 1 with Hanfmann, Bergevi lost 7-5 6-4 to Quiroz at 3, Goransson split sets with De Vroome at 4, and Jayashankar was up a set on Grant at 6. Both 2 and 6 were blowout losses though.

I've never seen a team use more lobs in doubles than Cal on all 3 courts. Must be an important part of their training. It's getting mixed results.

What happened to Nakamura yesterday ? was winning and looked like ok to win that 3rd set. and something happened and just froze. One thing with College tennis is that they have Coaches right there to help you and talk you thru these pressure moments.

Why didn't the coaches help him or did it not help at all ?

As long as you've been around I'll chalk this question up to your idea of humor.

Well, I know Cal coaching staff is better than that. but I have seen some real unprofessional decisions and questionable decision making after bad loss like this........it is sad but I seen it too many times.

Nakamura probably could benefit some help from sports psychologists on how to remain in the ZONE and not let the pressure get to you. Blocking out all pressure and focus on the Ball and tennis shot making can be done.

When you're tight, you're tight and sometimes there's nothing anybody can do. So far in the last week we have seen USC choke a doubles point with quadruple match point and then lose seven straight points, we've seen Zsiga the hero of the virginia match up 5-2 double break lose eleven straight games, we've seen Ronnie schneider up 5-1 in the third serve for the match four times and lose. People, I think, sometimes underestimate the pressure a player feels in a team format as opposed to just playing for ranking points and draw advancement.
