Really hoping Muguruza defeats Aga. That way we will be guaranteed a new premier mandatory champion. AND both Muguruza and Bacsinzky have never won anything more then a WTA international yet they've both had deep runs at grand slams! I also love both players so i'll be happy either way :D

I'd like a new champion too, but I'd rather see Timea win than Garbiñe.

Any reason?

There's something about Muguruza's game I don't like. And the idea that she might dominate in the next few years seems like more of the same once again. Hit hard and deep, hard and deep, hard and deep, hard and deep. She's a clumsier version of Serena Williams and too similar to Capriati, whose game I wasn't a fan of.

Interesting. I disagree but respect the opinion.

Crowds terrible for a semi

Also, these courts have no atmosphere at all. It's not just the lack of people attending, the whole thing just feels cold and soulless. Perhaps it's due to the lower seats being segregated from the others - and from each other - with those barriers.

Actually looks quite comfortable lol but yeah such a big stadium with so few people is going to have zero atmosphere

actually it's due to the reason that the fans go crazy for ATP not WTA, at least that's the case in Beijing.

Muguruza is usually quiet tonight , I hope she is not injured, anyway it's a good win for her despite the last few games.

Has Muguruza withdrawn from Hong Kong Open yet? I hope she will . She needs a good rest for the WTA final.
If Muguruza wins the title she will be 2 points, yes only 2 points away from World number 3 Sharapova. What a freaking year for her! So happy

if she wins, she will overtake Sharapova by almost 200 points, move to No. 3 in the race ranking.

The WTA live ranking has Muguruza at 4340 and winning will get her to 4690 points. Sharapova will be 4692. ?

the ranking is based on the rolling 52 weeks, Sharapova's points includes the ones she earned from last year's WTA final where Muguruza was not there. The race ranking is based on the calendar year, Muguruza will have more points than Sharapova if she wins Beijing, but of course the year end ranking could still change depends on how well they play against each other in the WTA final week.

Oh yeah I know the diffefrence between the two. I see where we got mixed up. I was talking about the current ranking whilst you were talking about the race ranking. :)

Just woke up and caught the replay of Timea vs. Ana Ivanovic match. Wow, what a comeback for Timea! Third time she's had to come from 1st set down to rally and win. 4th three setter too.

Hope she has enough in the tank to take on Gabby in the finals.

Great doubles final between Chan sisters and Santina. First set was superb with some drama with Hingis outburst at the umpire for not recognizing a racket touch by the opponents on a deciding point.

Santina won 6-7(9-11), 6-1, 1-0(10-8)

no one watching? T-Bac leads 4:2 so far. Mugu has trouble with her service game, both struggled with their service but T-Bac has one hold. T-Bac does a very good job here to hold Mugu and disturb her rhythm, not let her dominate the court.
