Yes, I'm hungry for new faces, at the top, too...but I need order in my tennis universe. :D Can these new/older new players create this new world order? Thought it was going to be an "older" Kerber. She has just vanished since getting #1. Still early, but don't see Pliskova being that anchor to hold down that top spot. Hopefully she can. I like her and Ostapenko. Ostapenko is a breath of fresh air. Love her game and spirit. Would be great to see those two batteling for slams.

Would love to see the new blood vanquishing the old (not Sharapova though)...with solid and consistent players in the top 3 or 4. Players who can create some great rivalries. That's suppose to be how tennis creates interest has prospered. Hope it happens. The old guard will be back in full force shortly.
I too like some order as long as it's not overly predictable (see ATP) but right now I'm very much enjoying the WTA just because almost every match is a mystery. Lots of young guns and old pro's going at it and it's messy (never ugly!) and, for me at least, great fun. I say mix it up and see what happens!

Still, nothing I'd like more than to see Serena get 25 slams.

If Halep makes it tonight then I am tempted to see the women's final tomorrow. I like both Wozniacki and Halep so it's a win-win for me. And the weather is looking great too.

I noticed Wozniacki got 0 votes so I hope she gets it and proves everyone wrong. I always love the unpredictable.

wow - how bad is this match? Going for too much and so many errors.

Is Halep this bad?

Double breadsticks served. What an absolutely embarrassing, putrid effort by Simona.

At least Caroline/Elina should be fun tomorrow.

Just saw the scoreline. Sucks to see it so one-sided, these two can be a good match up.
I... don't understand. Why does this suck? Revenge! :)

Wozniacki doesn't have a good record in tournament finals this year at all but Svitolina has a great one. Come on Eli, crown this amazing run with another title.

:p I saw zoning Svitolina before and she is fun to watch. But it looks like today it was mostly Halep playing poorly.

Didn't the two of them meet this year in some tournament final, on hard court as well? Based on the finals records I'd favor Svitolina tomorrow but I have barely watched any tennis in Toronto so can't speak much about it.

Comms just said that Wozi is playing with a lot of confidence so I don't think Svitolina will be able to pull the same performance against Wozi. Halep did play a terrible match. Looked nervous though I am not sure why she'd be nervous.

Yeah they did, in Dubai. Eli is 4-0 in finals this year while Woz is 0-5, what a contrast. Starting to feel bad for her, especially since she doesn't seem to be a boring moonballer like she used to be before.

Sharapova out of Cincy as is Azarenka. Looks like Vika will miss quite a few tournaments as her dick of a baby daddy got custody for the kid and won't let the baby fly to where Azarenka needs to compete so she's essentially stuck. Awful situation for her.

Svitolina v Wozniacki is a great final. Looking like one of them will end the year as #1 unless Halep or Pliskova can scoop the US Open and have a half decent Asian swing.

Svitolina looking to win all 3 Premier 5's in one year. Impressive. Although, still hasn't made a slam SF...
also she's now 7-1 against top 5 players in 2017... it should be 8-0 if you dare remember that one match where she lost to a top 5 player...

Simona, ya blew it. Horrible performance.

When my game has been way off, I often knew why. But other times it was just a mystery. I imagine, for females, this up and down might be even more of an issue. No idea how much changes in hormone levels, neurotransmitter levels or other internal functions due menses/periods might affect athletic performance. Of course, moods and athletic performance can be affected by other factors as well.

The strangest thing is something happened in 5.5-6 hours. I didn't see the Garcia match, but the #s say she was fine. FF a few hours, it looked like she'd never played a professional match before.

Yes, that does seem odd that she played fairly well in the morning but struggled so much 6 hours later. But I've seen that happen more than once with my own performance in a similar span of time. And I imagine that this kind of thing might not be all that uncommon with someone afflicted with bipolar disorder. Gotta wonder if Simona ain't bipolar or has something else going on.
