2017 Pure Strike

So Project One 7 is actually the new Pure Strike? If it plays anything like the old Strike, count me out. I was really looking forward to this new racquet but now I'm disappointed.

Just because it's called Pure Strike it doesn't mean it plays like the old one, does it?

Will be interested to see how this plays vs the old pure strike - really enjoyed the original 16x19 for a year or so, before switching to the PS97... Cosmetic - I loved the old PJ -- not sure about the white until it's in my hand!

Surprised to see that the offering includes racquets with very similar specs, especially the PS 100 and the PS 16x19, which seem similar apart 300 vs 305g and 100 vs 98
Good thing for picky consumers like us!
The PS 100 plus a little bit of weight in the handle could be a great pick for me
Curious to see reviews and feedback about these sticks before demoing
But I'm pretty confident that Babolat made sure that these new Strikes will be better that the previous ones

Theres a slight mold and drill pattern change. It's a great feeling racket. I wouldn't count it out until you've actually tried it.

In comparison to the previous Pure Strike. The P17 is stiffer and feels more solid. Also has a more plush/muted feel. Great at hitting slapshot forehands.

Can you please verify if all the playtesters got the regular 16x19 pattern P17? I think @TW Staff mentioned in one of the threads that TW will only have the PS 16x19, PS 100 and PS team for now starting Sep 1 when pre-sales open. Don't think we'll have the option of VS or VS Tour yet. I will be getting the 16x19 so just wanted to see how it stacked up against previous one and I'm going by the playtesters reviews so far. Thanks

The Project One 7 played differently than a Pure Strike. I will be interested to see if Babolat makes a Tour version of this new Strike. Has anyone seen the new Pure Controls?

It looks like the new Pure control is the Pure Strike VS. Not sure on the mold though but they do have the typical 16x20 string pattern

Yeah, I was just going back to edit that after I reread the first page again. :)

The Project One 7 responded well to weight added, which IMO is what it needed. A slightly heavier (maybe 11.3oz unstrung, 6pts HL) version would be nice.

Babolat Official has confirmed in another thread that the Strike VS is the update of the Controls and is the same mold.

So can anyone tell me what the difference was between Controls and Strikes? Now that they have been integrated into the same line, this would imply that the Controls were actually designed for attacking, but this would be at odds with the name, no? The specs for the Controls/VS look interesting, but I never tried them as I assumed they were more flexible, lower powered racquets, and I was looking for something with more pop, like the Strike.

The Controls are, as the name implies, more control oriented frames. Strikes are for an attacking style.

The 'VS' label implies the more control oriented frame of the line; So Strike VS and Aero VS are the more control oriented frames of their respective line of racquets.

Maybe a Pure Drive VS is in the works? @Babolat Official

Hi @Babolat Official. Would you mind clearing up some confusion? So the Pure Strike VS Tour replaces the Pure Conntrol Tour? Was this the Pure Stikr Cntrl you previously mentioned, or is that another frame in the works? Will there still be a Pure Aero VS Tour & if so, is that supposed to be the new itiration of the Aero Storm Tour GT? Sorry for all of the questions, but trying to understand the new line-ups. Thanks again for your help!

Pure Strike and Pure Control have been combined to form new Pure Strike line.

I know all there is to know about the Pure Strike line!

Feel free to ask me anything?

But unlike the Strike VS and Aero VS there is no old mould to rehash; they're still using the old Pro Kennex one to make Pure Drives lol.

Theim is the opposite of wild but it's nice to see a white racquet. I'm over the whole black racquet thing.
Was this the outcome of project X/7/8 ?

@Babolat Official, will the Pure Stike VS Tour also be available in September, or will you be staggering the release like with the original Pure Strike? Thanks in advance!

The VS Tour will be a staggered release. Only the 16x19, 100, & Team will be out in September.

@Babolat Official Will there be a 95 racquet in the future?

At this time, there are no plans for it.

Also interested to try the VS tour. 16x20 vs 18x20. Wondering the difference.

Also would love to hear more about the FSI tech? what is that? string spacing?

VS & VS Tour are updates to the Control line. Same mold as the previous. The 18x20 is the Strike 18x20 update. Different mold than the VS lines.

FSI stands for "Frame String Interaction". The FSI Power is a wider spacing in the cross strings to provide more power to the new Pure Strike. Expect a bit more pop than the previous version with this frame.
same mold??

It's an updated mold from 2014. No X-sider, and increased beam width in the throat and at 3/9/12 o'clock to increase stability.

Just because it's called Pure Strike it doesn't mean it plays like the old one, does it?

Both rackets are meant for attacking players, but the updated Pure Strike provides much more stability and power. It plays very smooth.

No autograph? No letter? No $250 price tag. Totally disappointed.

You are correct. Same mold.

Yes, we had a name change from the Pure Strike CTRL to the Pure Strike VS. The Strike VS/VS Tour is the update to the Pure Control/Control Tour. Same mold as the previous Pure Control.

There is a Pure Aero VS Tour coming this fall. It is the AeroStorm Tour update in the modern family. The Pure Aero VS is the Aerostorm update.

Yes, the Pure Strike is the final outcome and commercial release of Project One 7. The Pure Strike 16x19 is the same as the Project One7. There are other rackets in the family as well, including 100, Team, and 18x20, VS, & VS Tour later on.

Which version does Thiem actually plays with?

I believe it is the 18x20. Does he still play with a stock frame with modified (Head) grip?

@Babolat Official thank you for clearing up my confusion. That makes sense. I know you said the Pure Strike VS Tour release was going to be staggered, but any approximate estimate on when that might be?

Thanks again!

Ugh! I hate to wait, but I understand. Thanks for the answer @JAY1

It's when the New Pure Strike 18 X 20 is being released too....

3 rackets being released in September and 3 in February 2017 and that's the Pure Strike line, 6 in all....

The 2 casualties are the Pure Control 95 and the Pure Strike Tour....

And Thiem plays with PureStrike 20x18? ?

That is racket I want to try (currently play with). But the current one gets a little unstable against really big shots (incoming) that you don't set up perfectly for. Interested that the next version is more stable (big plus) and significantly more powerful (per @Babolat) which I am not as sure about.
