Don’t be. Serena is chasing more balls and appears to be incredibly more fit than how she started earlier this year, and even at Wimbledon. As a Serena fan this Bianca girl worries the crap out of me.
That's how Serena looked in the Wimbledon semifinals this year and the US Open semifinals last year as well....before getting her butt whipped from pillar to post in the finalsAndreescu really does have both brains and mental toughness. Not sure who'll win this one, though, because Serena has looked unstoppable the last couple of matches.
LOL! Svitolina is used to getting annhilated in Slams in the business end. Halep killed her at Wimbledon and Osaka destroyed her in Australia. Svitolina could barely rack up more than 2-3 gamesSvitolina is worlds ahead of Andreescu right now... in every possible way. And Williams absolutely crushed Svitolina... and Williams wasn't even playing her best tennis. I'd love for it to be a competitive and dramatic match, but I think this is going to be a rout. Williams in 2.
I know a lot of people hated seeing the top women seeds going out early, but I personally love seeing Svitolina, Andreescu, and Bencic come through the draw. That's awesome for women's tennis. The women's field is so good right now. You literally have no idea what is going to happen in the Top-20 (aside from Williams bulldozing through a draw -- and even that is unpredictable anymore).
What? Andreescu is miles ahead of Svitolina on hardcourts. Svitolina put NO pressure on Williams by standing way too far back and being far too passive. I'd like to think Bianca will be a bit smarter than that...Svitolina is worlds ahead of Andreescu right now... in every possible way. We can't be sure how Bianca will react. This is her first major finals. This is not Indian Wells finals.I picked Andreescu from the very start and couldn't have picked a better opponent for her in the Finals. She's not intimidated by the 23 Grand Slam at all and will match her power, but the younger Andreescu will be moving her around the court until she's gasping for air much like Halep did at Wimbledon.
I have to strongly disagree as Andreescu has nothing to lose and had never shown nerves in the past and never gives up. Serena on the other hand will be under so much pressure playing in front of her home crowd and playing against a younger, quicker opponent that's going to frustrate the hell out her with her unorthodox style. We can't be sure how nervous she will react. This is her first major finals.
Yes, Surena has the pressure of #24 but she has been in the finals 33 times. Ridiculous... The kid is the one most likely to feel the pressure.
Serena seems to be calm now and has hired some mental coaches. Says she is out there to have fun and see what it happens. I like her mindset; much better than last year's U.S. Open disaster.I have to strongly disagree as Andreescu has nothing to lose and had never shown nerves in the past and never gives up. Couldn't agree more. Svitolina has a better serve, more powerful ground game, hits a heavier ball, has more variety, is better at the net and is mentally tougher.Svitolina is worlds ahead of Andreescu right now... in every possible way. Agree that she's way more relaxed than last year. I think losing 3 times in a final kinda release the pressure off her back but like I said she's a nervous person, always has been. Her serve help her slow start in usual match so if the serve is gone and Bianca flying and grabbing the 1st set that will be the question whether she can regroup or not.Serena seems to be calm now and has hired some mental coaches. Anyone else feel like a Serena win would be even worse for the game than the Nadal?
Movement is not the entire game. Anyone relying on that as an advantage will spend a career losing. How a bunch of supposed pros can’t expose the movement of a player who is at least 15kg overweight is totally beyond me.

Same here. I even laid odds on her to win it all at +1600. So with a happy heart i can lay the -270 or so thatThis is a tough one to call. I’ve been on the Bianca train since Indian Wells and pegged her as the co favorite in this tourney along with Serena. I’m torn here. All depends on how each player serves to be honest. Whoever’s serve is on that day and gets more first serves in will win in my opinion.
Yup loving women’s tennis and how semis worked out.Svitolina is worlds ahead of Andreescu right now... in every possible way. She's only a "winner" if she wins. Suggesting she's a "winner" even if she loses gives an undeserved credit to the runner up, and steps all over the achievement of the winner. No one said players such as Stevenson, Oudin or Gauff were the "winners" of the majors where they made significant (in Stevenson's case, historic) runs, and that applies to Andreescu as well.Regardless the outcome, Andreescu is a "winner" of this USO.
There is no way anyone can make a prediction about long term consistency of WTA players. Injury, the depth of the WTA. There are no dominant players. She may get to #1 doubtful she stays there for long. To many good players can beat her on any given day.Serena in 2...to lose.
Bianca will extend Serena's major final losses to 4 in a row.
This young Canadian has the heart and physicality of a champion. She, not Osaka or Barty, will be #1 assuming she stays healthy.
Maybe they can beat her, but they haven't proven it so far. As of today her career record is 9-0 versus top 10 players. To many good players can beat her on any given day.
