This is a tough one to call. I’ve been on the Bianca train since Indian Wells and pegged her as the co favorite in this tourney along with Serena. I’m torn here. All depends on how each player serves to be honest. Whoever’s serve is on that day and gets more first serves in will win in my opinion.

Serena in 2.

If her ace game, laser-focused, calm mindset and clean game shows up to play.

Andreescu is far too error-prone to cause Serena much trouble. Interested to see how she returns balls against an injury-free Serena.

Serena will also have the crowd support. In the US Open, this can and does matter.

Honestly,I think Andreescu is the better tennis player. Her serving could be a problem though,so might have to be a bit sharper for the final...

Svitolina is worlds ahead of Andreescu right now... in every possible way. And Williams absolutely crushed Svitolina... and Williams wasn't even playing her best tennis. I'd love for it to be a competitive and dramatic match, but I think this is going to be a rout. Williams in 2.

I know a lot of people hated seeing the top women seeds going out early, but I personally love seeing Svitolina, Andreescu, and Bencic come through the draw. That's awesome for women's tennis. The women's field is so good right now. You literally have no idea what is going to happen in the Top-20 (aside from Williams bulldozing through a draw -- and even that is unpredictable anymore).

LOL! Svitolina is used to getting annhilated in Slams in the business end. Halep killed her at Wimbledon and Osaka destroyed her in Australia. Svitolina could barely rack up more than 2-3 games

What? Andreescu is miles ahead of Svitolina on hardcourts. Svitolina put NO pressure on Williams by standing way too far back and being far too passive. I'd like to think Bianca will be a bit smarter than that...

I agree Bianca is definitely better than Svitolina, although TODAY she did not play as well as she has been.

I picked Andreescu from the very start and couldn't have picked a better opponent for her in the Finals. She's not intimidated by the 23 Grand Slam at all and will match her power, but the younger Andreescu will be moving her around the court until she's gasping for air much like Halep did at Wimbledon.

We can't be sure how Bianca will react. This is her first major finals. This is not Indian Wells finals.
Yes, Serena has the pressure of #24 but she has been in the finals 33 times. Ridiculous... The kid is the one most likely to feel the pressure.
Bianca says Serena is her idol. How can she not be intimidated by going up against her childhood idol?
Serena is the last opponent Bianca wants to be playing.

I have to strongly disagree as Andreescu has nothing to lose and had never shown nerves in the past and never gives up. Serena on the other hand will be under so much pressure playing in front of her home crowd and playing against a younger, quicker opponent that's going to frustrate the hell out her with her unorthodox style.

Serena seems to be calm now and has hired some mental coaches. Says she is out there to have fun and see what it happens. I like her mindset; much better than last year's U.S. Open disaster.

Bianca needs to prepare a Plan A and Plan B. If Serena is off, Bianca can possibly play more defensively and let her self-destruct.
If Serena is on, Bianca really needs to move her around with slice and drops. Svolitna totally failed to move Serena around.

Andreescu in 2. Hope I’m wrong but Serena is not the favourite to win this. Bianca on a 13 match winning streak. Hasn’t lost a completed match since March 1st. 44 - 4 Win/loss record this year.

Couldn't agree more. Svitolina has a better serve, more powerful ground game, hits a heavier ball, has more variety, is better at the net and is mentally tougher.

Hate to say it but I think Bianca’s going to rout Serena here. She has this gritty fearlessness and determination, clearly she will not be overawed by the occasion. She strikes the ball hard and early and is going to make Serena move more than what she has in her last two matches.

Bianca will bring an energy and intensity that will take the game away from Serena and frustrate her. Serena’s serve will be key if she is to win. I just can’t trust that Serena will stay mentally focused throughout. She’s lost too many finals that she should’ve won because she choked under the pressure.

Whatever happens I just hope Serena can compose herself enough not to make any more drama or controversy. Another diva like tantrum will hurt her legacy despite her GOAT status.

Agree that she's way more relaxed than last year. I think losing 3 times in a final kinda release the pressure off her back but like I said she's a nervous person, always has been. Her serve help her slow start in usual match so if the serve is gone and Bianca flying and grabbing the 1st set that will be the question whether she can regroup or not.

Anyone else feel like a Serena win would be even worse for the game than the Nadal?

How a bunch of supposed pros can’t expose the movement of a player who is at least 15kg overweight is totally beyond me.

I predict Serena in 2. I am objectively since I am not a fan of either.
1. Because the greats play far better in slams as opposed to a Masters event. It means much more to them.
2. Serena's form is looking invincible. serve, groundies, and even net play
3. Andreescu has shown to be erratic.

I see #24 for her. It would be fitting if the real #24 Kobe is in attendance.

Exception: If Andreescu can consistently move Serena side to side and execute some great drop shots she could win in a nail biter. I doubt it because Serena has controled where the ball goes, not her opponent. Bianca better realize this early.

Irrational. Pure hatred.

Movement is not the entire game. Anyone relying on that as an advantage will spend a career losing.

This is the funniest thing I’ve read in months. Bianca has a better serve, way more powerful ground game, def hits a heavier ball, has wayyyy more variety and is mentally tougher...and I’m a fan of svitolina. I’ll assume you were trolling

I think this one could go either way. I give the edge to Serena just because this is the "rational" thing to do, but Andreescu can definitely upset her and honestly I hope she does. Either way, I hope for a hard fought final and a good match; may the best player win!

Regardless the outcome, Andreescu is a "winner" of this USO.

Same here. I even laid odds on her to win it all at +1600. So with a happy heart i can lay the -270 or so that
Serena getting so i win either way !!!

Yup loving women’s tennis and how semis worked out.

Disappointed with Svitolina though for not having the fortitude to at least try another approach last night instead of just standing there being slaughtered.

Oh well. The most deserving people are in the final. That’s the important part.

Serena in 2 IF her serve shows up and she doesn’t start slow (which she did even last night, down 0-30 in no time).

Regardless the outcome, Andreescu is a "winner" of this USO.

She's only a "winner" if she wins. Suggesting she's a "winner" even if she loses gives an undeserved credit to the runner up, and steps all over the achievement of the winner. No one said players such as Stevenson, Oudin or Gauff were the "winners" of the majors where they made significant (in Stevenson's case, historic) runs, and that applies to Andreescu as well.

Win or lose, the biggest takeaway is that she is part of a very strong WTA tour, which is great for entire sport.

The thing I notice about Bianca is she is very methodical in her actions and time on court. This may actually help serene a little in that she won't be rushed. The key is for Serena to serve lights out as always if she has to get into a baseline rally fest she is going to tire. Bianca handles people at net much better than the average WTA player. This is gonna be a doozy.

Serena in 2...to lose.
Bianca will extend Serena's major final losses to 4 in a row.
This young Canadian has the heart and physicality of a champion. She, not Osaka or Barty, will be #1 assuming she stays healthy.

There is no way anyone can make a prediction about long term consistency of WTA players. Injury, the depth of the WTA. There are no dominant players. She may get to #1 doubtful she stays there for long. To many good players can beat her on any given day.

"I'm getting sooo mad at myself." :(
Can''t tell if she is cocky or just a drama queen.

My gut feeling is that Andreescu is going to win. Perhaps Margaret Smith Court has put a curse on Serena? (; She will stay forever at 23? (; I am fine with either outcome. I am no longer excited by the women's players on the tour, only the men. It hasn't always been this way but it sure is now. Most of the players seem like they are the same person just with a different name! :)

Andreescu HAS to believe. I think the nerves will get the best of her but it will be the last time she loses to Serena. Nonetheless, all good mojo to Andreescu.

Personally I think Serena will win this. She has played out of her mind her last 2 matches. However, I really like Bianca and would love to see a teenager raise a major trophy again.

My mind says Serena in 2, avenging the retirement and emphatically tying Courts record....however my heart I have to pull for Bianca to defy the odds, and a season of her own injuries, to win a 3rd title and her first major.

Serena will win this and then we'll be subjected to an endless avalanche of Serena worship (I mean, more than what we already suffer through) for the foreseeable future. gag. I hope I am wrong.

Serena has played well in other slams up until the finals. Then imploded. Nothing she does prior to finals matters either way.
