Don't think it's the surface though. The change of balls this year have not helped him. They're fluffing up more by the end of the cycle. Returning more to the balls pre-2017. I wouldn't complain normally except many of the players this year have also thought the same and I haven't heard anyone say they like it. And Wilson did only supply the balls since 2008. So not like Slazenger at Wimbledon.
Damn you Dunlop.
Just look at the tie breaks in this Slam, its like never before seen in quantity and their lengths are just what they planned
to make sure matches are very competitive, lots of close scores and chances to get back in the set.
Here in Japan the courts are syngrass and play like clay thanks to the Dunlop Forte, they fluff up and rallies can go on forever
they are a disgraceful ball and a joke to be now taking over the final stages of the homogenization of tennis by the ATP.
I like many are really sick of their monopoly but Stefano will eventually win Slams by coming forward as he does when
Nole leaves the sport in 5-6 years. Compared to Fed and Tities tonight Shapo was hitting a much heavier ball from both wings
sometimes with incredible depth and pace but Nole just hacked it back and waited for the error or finished the point as Shapo
was left perplexed.
I mentioned in an earlier piece all events should use one chosen calibrated ball machine and biometric camera equipment to
measure the speed, bounce, distance, spin and longevity of balls regardless of the brand to make sure they meet standards
to maximize the rewards for aggressive play rather than hackery and baseline dread.
Then all ball brands will work to make sure they bump up their quality rather than just win contracts through marketing and monopolies from cronyism that exists thanks to the ATP and LTA.
