Asics Gel Resolution 8

Why not make the upper white and the Asics logo black or green?
There is simply a population that does not like predominantly neon or white shoes. I think a lot of them come from the basketball background.

Plus, they *basically* already have that (I know the midsole isn't green):

Just got my first pair of Gel Res 8. I haven't played with them yet, but just comparing them to the FF2, they look huge & boxy.

I've been using the Adidas Ubersonic 2s for a long time and appreciated the low-to-the-ground feel. I'm currently testing out the Ubersonic 4s, FF2, and the GR8s.

Went from Uber 3 to Gel Res 8. Definitely not as low to the ground, but the difference in forefoot cushioning is night and day. Very noticeable that the Gel Res 8 are infinitely more plush. Likely that's why you feel like they look huge and boxy. That said, I don't feel like the extra cushioning and bulk make the shoe feel clunky and I'd say foot speed-wise, quite similar to the Uber 3.

Hi guys, Im size 42 EURO, UK8. Tried the GR8s (tokyo) today in size 8 and they felt okish but a bit narrow on the top of my foot. Could this be due to the laces were done? I tried also a half size up, 8.5. The mentioned issue was not there but the shoe just felt a bit too long and there was this clicking sound when stepping with my heel up?
I really like the shoe but Im not 100% convinced with either. Im uing a k swiss atm and they need to be replaced after 2 years.
Im thinking that if I was to buy them, then go size 8 and give them time to break in?

PS: anyone here has the euro size 42 and can give me the weight in grams? Just would like to compare them to my k swiss. Thanks

love ASICS shoes, hate their laces. Always immediately replace them with better laces.

that clicking sound goes away with time.

Did most people size down from the Gel Resolution 7s or stay the same?
Also do the Gel Resolution 8s have the 6-Month Outsole Warranty?
TW says they do, but Asics doesn't mention it: https://www.asics.com/us/en-us/gel-resolution-8/p/ANA_1041A079-100.html?width=Standard
(But the Asics 7s page does: https://www.asics.com/us/en-us/gel-resolution-7/p/ANA_E701Y-0193.html?width=Standard)

Half size down for me even though I have a wide foot. Did so because there is extra room off the end of the toe in my normal size, and also to help with the heel slippage thing which is the biggest problem of this shoe for some like me - however, I've found a way to mitigate that, and over time have come to really love the rest of this shoe's performance. They're super shoes the more they break in and soften up.

I went a size down. They are really comfy shoes but the Resolution has gives me heel slippage. My foot came out of the shoes during a match last night but lucky I won the point haha.

Is anybody finding the cushioning of the GR8 to be kind of trash after a couple months? To me, they look bottomed out, feel a bit squishier, and my feet get sore after I play. I used to wear the Head Revolt (since the 2.0) and the pair I wore out before the GR8 took me a bit over two months for the outsole rubber to wear through (playing 2-3 times a week). When I started wearing the GR8 in April, I only played once a week (occasionally twice). I think I’m almost through the rubber but the cushioning is shot.
Although the Head Revolt cushioning isn’t as noticeable/a little lacking in comparison to the GR8, I didn’t notice my feet getting too sore after a while. Not sure if the GR8 is for those who don’t play that often or don’t take advantage of the 6 month warranty.
I think I’m gonna try the KSwiss Ultrashot 3 or HyperCourt Supreme when I trade in my shoes.

I stayed with the same size, not sure about the warranty.

Yes there's a warranty I'm already on pair 3. Pair 1 I bought, Pair 2 got free from warranty, Pair 3 bought (almost dead), will get pair 4 from warranty and buy another new pair as well. These shoes are great, they do take some break in as they are stiff and squeaky when new but after a few hours they feel great.

I enjoyed them when new but after a couple of months, my big toe in my left foot started giving me problems. Have another pair in ice so I suppose I’ll give them a run as well, hopefully they’ll work better.

have some of the new barricades on the way so hopefully they’ll work. Using the vapor cage 4 and like them fine, but wouldn’t say I love them.

When is the best time to buy a pair? Seems like the price are still quite high. When are new models announced (resolution 9)? spring 2022? I would think we see a drop in price before that.

I stayed with time same size. The length is similar between the two generations but the 8s are wider than the 7s, especially in the toe box.

So, the Asics site had the red/white/black colorway in my size, so I just pulled the trigger there. Looking forward to these. I bought them a half size small as they seem to run long according to lots of the comments here. Fingers crossed on the fit.

Love this shoe and I hate this shoe. Such a good performer on court but my feet are begging me to take it off before/after I play because of the weird fit (low ankle and extra room off toe) that forces me into a 1/2 size down to prevent the heel slippage and help with the longer toe. So they do the job but they're just not altogether enjoyable for my feet. Don't have access to the wide version in Europe. Since Asics cushioning seems to agree with my feet more than any other I'm contemplating giving the Court FF2s a try even though the try-on seemed weird to me before, but I keep reading how they break in so nicely.

Loved the originals Court FFs - I refuse to pay that price for a shoe with no guarantee

Recieved my pair this morning having been wearing Yonex Power Cushion Durable for the last 4 years.
Long story short they are going back - far too narrow in terms of toe box and restrictive to the point of being painful to the top of my foot. Stupidly listened to a friend who said they suited wide feet but that definitely isnt the case!!
The also feel like I'm walking on stilts compared to my old yonex's - felt far too detatched from the ground.
Shame as they look great. Will try K-swiss bigshot 4 next.

Sad to hear. Still, plenty of good options for wide feet from Fila, Diadora, and KSwiss. Walking on stilts not a bad thing for those of us who need the cushioning. I imagine the GP Turbo's have a similar feel.

Can you report back on the Bigshots? I slipped on a sample at the store one day long ago and they actually seemed very plush and wide enough, but if you thought the Res were stilts, you may think these are too - same plushness underfoot, it seemed. Actually to the point where I worried they'd be too heavy/sloppy out there. So that's what I'd be curious about.

100% agree with you- I've wider feet and tried new resolutions 8s half size down/up even in wider versions but still they don't fit like previous resolutions especially 7s are the best. Have always used ASICS but heard KSwiss are good for wider feet as well, so ordered KSWiss Hypercourt Express, let you know once I receive them

Thay arrived this morning and first impressions are good. Definitely wide enough and a huge step up comfort wise from the 8's. Had to use the rear ankle lace holes else my heel slipped around in the shoe. Remains to be seen how they are on the court but they've passed the "running around the house on the carpet" test :)
I do get your concern about weight - they don't appear to be the lightest of shoes.

Nice, looking forward to the court report. I really wish the GR8s fit me better because they perform with such fluid energy return on court, and good grip/slide ratio. But I'm always fighting with the fit. To slip into a shoe that felt comfy and then also performed supremely well, that's my simple dream.

Been wearing the Ubersonic 4's since their release -- 2s and 3s before that. Prior to that, I had been exclusively Asics, for all athletic shoes. Gel-Resolutions all, but one did try the Speeds -- liked them, but not as stable. I think the last version was the GR6, probably. So much plastic -- felt tight across my foot and was hotter than previous models. I'm considering going back to ASICS - GR8. How's the temperature? The one thing I don't like about the Ubersonic 4 is they don't have the extra hole for me to lock lace -- my heel is a bit narrow compared to the width of my forefoot. I always ordered 12.5 US for everything ASICS and they fit well, except for the last GR I was wearing.

To me GR8 are the hottest but also the more plush/soft in terms of sole. My main issue with them is lack of decent lockdown on the ankle area.

Can anybody compare the gel challenger 13 to the gel resolution 8? What was the durability and stability and support like compared to the resolution?

I got a pair about a month ago. Like the shoe, don’t love it. Sizing is fine for me, I usually wear an 11 and 11 fits well. I do wear custom orthotics.

Likes: cushioning, fit, width, seem very durable.

Dislikes: outsole seems slippery, breathability is poor, all “plastic” upper isn’t flexible enough in key spots, forefoot, over the toes…

Really liked these at first but they ended up giving me some Achilles problems. Switched to the NB 996 and they fit my feet perfectly. Not very cushioned but no pain either. So far I’m sold.

I much prefer the uber 4 over the 3. The 3’s were clompy. The 4 have a little more “roll” to them.
I liked the stability in the forefoot of the 3's. I have noticed my heel moving out of the cup in the 4's. The forefoot in the 4s seem to snug, which is the complaint I had with the GR6s.

Since ASICS supply sucks right now and for the foreseeable future, is the KSwiss Ultrashot a good alternative?

Ultrashot 3 felt even wider to me than the ultra shot 2 I had been wearing. Didn't buy it. I wear a standard 9.5 with medium foot, regular arch. Gel res 8 fits well for me.
