Semi-Pro
So I've experimented with a few overgrips trying to find one that suits my preference. I have very sweaty hands, but I also want a grip that will be playable and not just absorb sweat. So far I have tried Yonex Super grap, Wilson Pro, Gamma Supreme, and tournagrip. Here are my experiences.
Gamma Supreme- Didn't last long. Didn't like it. After like 10 minutes my hands became too sweaty to use this overgrip and the overall tackiness wore off on mine after like 2-3 hitting sessions.
Wilson Pro- I like this overgrip. It gave good tackiness for a decent amount of time and it handled small amounts of sweat pretty well, but I live in Florida, so when I sweat, I SWEAT A LOT. Just didn't hold tackiness well enough for how much I sweat
TournaGrip- Obviously the BEST for sweaty hands, however I found it somewhat uncomfortable, and I felt a disconnect between me and the ball. I like it, but I don't play as well with it.
Yonex Supergrap- Probably my favorite of the bunch. Plays like Wilson Pro, but it absorbs sweat a little bit better imo. Also I feel like it had the best playability. HOWEVER, one time I left the overgrip on for like over a month. It lost all its tackiness, and I was too lazy to order some more and change it at the time. I was playing once, and I went for a low slice. I LAUNCHED the racquet out of my hand and into the air. It flew across the court and hit a light pole DEAD CENTER ON THE FRAME. I freaked out and found my racquet completely fine but with only one little scuff. Honestly, I expected the frame to just crack in half. Even though there was no damage to my frame, it still scared me, and I haven't gone back to supergrap since.
I want to know if I should switch to some other overgrip, or if I should just give supergrap another chance, and just change it out more often.
