MSV focus hex is my main string. Tried other strings but always came back to MSV. Glad I got two reels for $45 each a month ago from US distributor (G&G).
Probably I am okay for two years ^_^
Cyclone might be good but not my choice. I bought one pink reel for $50, when it was sale from TW a while ago.

Darn I just bought a reel of bhbr, didnt know cyclone pink was 70. Great string, but i pref the slightly sharper feel of BHBR17 anyways.

Awesome deal, even tho it is pink.
Cyclone 18 is one of the very best polys in that gauge, I've tried dozens and dozens in that gauge.

Does anybody else feel like Cyclone loses playability and drops tension pretty quickly? I pay to have strings put in at about 18$ per racquet. I am more sensitive to longer play than I am cost of the string. When I have used Cyclone in the past I always felt like it was great for a few hours then I needed to restring..Thoughts? Lately, I have been stringing Sonic Pro Edge 1.30 and getting 12-15 hours of great play. Volkl V-Pro is lasting about 10 hours.

There is no way I am putting pink strings in my racquets. Even if it is best string, which this is not, and free. Some lines should not be crossed.

I agree with your sentiments about Cyclone. It does lose its playability rather quickly and the two colors react different after it has done so. To me the black becomes a soft, plusher, mushier feel and it doesn't give you the same spin. The yellow on the other hand becomes stiffer, more boardy, and less forgiving. It also loses its spin potential.

Nothing good at 80 bucks a reel. Yes it'll be cheap, but you'll have to restring often. Open up the wallet and increase your budget a bit more and you can find better alternatives.

Great to hear from you. I might get a reel of the BHBR 17G. I am a long time user of Tourna strings. I see you are using the AG 100... I have a 4D version and love that frame. Just hard for me to win matches with it. I find playing defense is an issue with that frame but it one great attacking frame to be sure. Thanks for reminder on the BHBR 17. The BHB is also a great string for the money as is the Silver. Happy Hitting man..

I highly recommend trying a set of bhbr 17g first though. I remember a good deal of people thinking it felt too "plasticky."
I actually am also a huge fan of black magic 17 as well. It honestly felt like multi when it was fresh. The feel is fantastic. The only reason I don't buy it is because most of my currency is TW giftcards lol.

MSV Focus Hex 1.23 has a good price/ quality ratio IMO. Not the most amazing string in any department, but it performs well and lasts a reasonable amount of time and is well priced

Hi Roland... that was my 1st (MSV Focus Hex.. but the 1.18) . Are you rocking the Dunlop F3.0 Tour? Sorry to say with all the holidays and weather issues here.. I have not been out again with mine..

I'm really enjoying the F3.0 Tour at the moment, so much so I've another one coming. I've tried the Hex 1.18 in that frame and found it played just a little lively for me. The 1.23 is a bit less lively/more crisp and also lasts a bit longer I found.

Funny to say that any Dunlop 300 Tour plays too lively. Most of them are underpowered. This frame has some nice pop. I found that I was getting too much power at times with the Wilson Syn Gut Extreme 16G at mid tension. Can't wait to try to it with a nice poly or poly hybrid.

I found B5E to be a crisper version of RPM and Black Cyclone, with its stiffness in between the 2 strings. I found the power level of B5E to be similar to RPM, which is a tad less than Cyclone. If you like a plusher stiff feel then go with the RPM, if you like a crisper medium stiff feel then go with B5E.
In comparison to Focus Hex, I found B5E to be extremely similar. Low powered, crisp feeling strings, slightly above average spin potential. However, Focus Hex is stiffer than B5E. I'd call B5E a little tiny less stiffer version of Focus Hex.

You could consider getting strings from europe as many manufacturers are from EU and a few particular strings seems to be sold at much cheaper. Some of the strings are actually much cheaper in TWE than TW e.g. signum pro, weiss cannon etc.
I could suggest a string that almost nobody uses here but proved to be one of my favourite strings - Signum Pro Plasma HEXtreme 16L pure. It can generate wicked spin, medium pop and extremely good tension maintenance. Only non pure orange version is available in TW for $149 a reel but you can get the pure from UK for around 80$ (50 quids at stringers world)

Always great interacting with a TT legend like yourself. Just did a six-month stint of stringing at a friend's shop part-time, and he has most of the Tourna strings. As soon as I tried BHBR 17, I knew I had found my new string. Soft but not mushy, just the right amount of power and spin, and the best control I have ever experienced.
I play mostly doubles these days, and the AG100 is ideal for that. Best volleys ever, great on serves and a slice and dice dream. If I do play singles, out comes my #1 favorite of all time: the M-Fil 200 18x20. If my reaction volleys were good enough with the M-Fil, I would use it for dubs as well.

I have played the BHBR 17G put did not really give it a long playtest. I also have modified my strokes since then so I would love to try it now... I have been a long time user of Big Hitter Silver 17G and that is a very nice price performer. Tourna did change the string a while back and made it thinner and softer.. less crisp to be sure. The 16G is really the old 17G... and the 17G is a brand new offering since I used up my reels. Great to see you are doing some stringing. Been doing it close to 20 years now and love to try new set-ups. If you are playing serious tennis (USTA/Tourney/College) one needs to stay very consistent with equipment. That is not true with me as I spend most of my time coaching, teaching and playing fun doubles. I do string for some very serious players and try to keep ahead of their needs.
BTW do you play the AG100 stock? I use the 4D version stock... I have no need to increase weight or SW as I almost never play anyone vs that sort of heat these days. I have a few strong HS players and push me around a bit..modern/big strokes but in general that frame is solid enough to have fun with. Still using modified, Dunlop 400 serious frames when I am in match play. The 400 series has always been a great platform series.. gets very little talk here. Using the Old mil 400 and the newer Bio 400 both modified. The newer Bio f3.0 is a real sleeper... you might what to pick one up... blast to play with. Well, I just bought a reel. It was a bit of a crap shoot, but I like Kirschbaum strings and it checked all the right boxes. Will update with review when I get the chance.

I paid $70 for a reel of Solinco Tour Bite. Definitely my favourite. 
But only Stratagem 8 has 17g.
