Bonjour from Babolat: Part Trois

I wish the Pure Drive Tour was a reverse cosmetic of the standard Pure Drive. I hate that they're the same cosmetic. I hate that other players think I'm just using the 300gm PD rather than the 315gm PD Tour. I wish the upcoming PD Tour was a matte black with Babolat's traditional blue used only as accent/trim. The Pure Drive Tour deserves a stand-alone cosmetic, not the same-same as the regular Pure Drive.

@MAXXply thanks for your feedback- noted!

@Babolat Official Is the Pure Aero VS considered part of the regular Pure Aero canon/line? And will new editions be released along with the rest of the line? Or is it considered it's own separate racquet in the family? I ask because the Regular PA's came out in August 2015 but the VS obviously didn't until a year later.

@Babolat Official

I just ordered grommets from TW and were sent old ones, is there anyway I can get in touch with you about getting the actual updated ones, they didnt seem to know what I was talking about.

Hi,

I presume you are talking about the Pure Aero grommets? The redesigned grommets have the same style number as the original ones, and the only way to tell if it's the newer one is if you have them next to an older one; the difference in the depth of the string channel is fairly slight. We made the update to the grommets in late January, and with the number of grommets they must go through, I would be surprised if you were sent the old version to be honest. I will send you the contact info for someone in our Aftersales department who may be able to help you. We are out of these grommets currently, but should have some in stock in about a week.

Hi,

Yes, the Pure Aero VS is considered part of the Pure Aero family. We're only about halfway through the life cycle of the Pure Aero, so it's a bit early to know what might be in store for the family, including the VS. The VS designation is being used to denote a "classic" frame, so perhaps it will just get a cosmetic update to keep it in the family, but without significant changes. We will all just have to wait to see I guess :)

Thanks for both this and your reply on the Pure Drive thread!

This is a big reason Babolat kills it in the marketplace, the customer service.

@Babolat Official - Hi. I have a pair of Propulse Fury shoes that need to be sent in for a warranty claim (worn though in under 6 months). How do I go about this as the shoes came with no warranty card. I have the original receipt. Thanks!

Hello @Babolat Official (Josh)

I have a question about making a label for a 12 pack bag on mybabolatbag.com. The only option appears to be for a backpack.

Also can images other than a country flag or Babolat logo be added? I wanted to add the club logo where I teach.

Thanks in advance!

The new PD should be released soon, could you give us a bit more about this update ("official" specs, RA, SW, pure feel, date of release)?

Josh / @Babolat Official,

Does Babolat make a tennis stand holder for stringers ? Just need a few to hold 10-12 frames.

Wilson makes a large one that mounts to a wall, but it is ginormous. Prince made what I wanted but Prince has more problems than a math book.

If Babolat doesn't sell one, could you please forward the request to your product develop team?

Home and stores could use a quality frame stand that holds 10-12 frames per stand IMO.

I don't know what everyone else thinks, but I think Wilson has the right idea by using a standardised design with different colour schemes to differentiate the different models.

If for example the next Pure Aero were to use a similar PJ / cosmetic design as the 2018 Pure Drive, but in black and yellow, that'd be nice, for example.

I was kind of hoping the new 2018 Pure Drive would look similar to the Pure Aero, but in blue and white, although I will say I really like the new shade of blue.

I played with all the iterations of the Storms, now the PC 95. I'm not seeing a new version of this racquet, what am I missing?

They merged the storms/controls into the strike line as the the Strike VS and Strike VS Tour. Also, they discontinued the 95 :(

That's a shame... I guess the 95/Ltd was something of an orphan amongst the rest of their line, but for some it was/is? money. The Strike VS seems closer in spec to the Aero than the 95/Ltd... Oh well... I guess I'lll have to go all del Potro on the 6 I have left.

Has Babolat officially killed it?

They have officially discontinued the 95/LTD, yes. I'd either stock up (there's some left on TW for pretty cheap) or look elsewhere, which is what I'm doing. Just gonna try out more frames, especially with good deals.

Sorry, Babolat Official, if asked before. Are either/both/neither the 2018 update or immediate prior version of the Pure Drive Lite the same mold as the Pure Drive?

I hate that the outgoing Tour version is the same cosmetic as the standard Pure Drive. I wished the upcoming Tour was a reverse paintjob of the new PD, with stealth all-black frame and trademark Babolat blue used only as trim/accents. I want others to know I'm using the PD Tour, not the 300gm one like everyone else. Somehow Babolat Marketing doesn't agree that the Tour warrants a different, more menacing cosmetic than the standard PD.

Okay @MAXXply, I've 'liked' the same post four times in the last three weeks; I agree completely with the sentiment, but who writes your posts, Melania Trump? ;) (It's funny how the PS97 at 315g is the 'chick stick' version of the RF97A; yet the Pure Drive Tour - also at 315g - is the 'blokey' version of the Pure Drive. I can only conclude that players using the 'regular'/300g version of the Pure Drive with no weight mods must be pu$$!3s...)

You see it depends on the psychology of the player. My preference would be that the Tour version of a racqet looks exactly the same as all the other models, or at least as close as possible to them.

I don't want any opponents knowing that I'm using something different from the rest of the pack. Why would I want to advertise any advantage? I need all the help I can get :)

With added overgrip I find the full strung weight of the PD Tour a happy medium between the Prince Graphite Mids of my youth and the too-light-for-me standard PD. I'm all in with the modern playing characteristics of Pure Drives and I'm happy with the 315gm. I don't find myself wishing it was 320 or 325gm instead.
PS, yes I took a leaf from Melania's speechwriting :)

Why do you care about that? Do you feel like using a PD Tour is superior?

Not ''superior''. I don't think I am somehow better than my opponent just by wielding a differently coloured racket to them. I do however want to appear different on court playing with a racket that does not say same-same Pure Drive. I admit a racket's cosmetics are a major factor in my purchase decisions, the plainer the better.

I see, you want to be unique. Got it

Sounds like you care a lot about what other people think of you which leads to self esteem problems.

What does it matter? Your opponent s or hitting partners probably could care less and probably they don't even know what they are using themselves. Paint jobs are only skin deep...

I also have a a brand new grommet, which I believe is the old version as well. What should I do with it?

@dsb The Pure Control family of racquets merged with the Pure Strike family as the Pure Strike VS and VS Tour. We do not carry a 95 in this line but I would recommend starting with the Pure Strike VS as that will play the most similar. Best of luck

Truly appreciate Babolat taking the input. Please keep me posted on the racquet holder.

And please tell your management and design team if they make a PureDrive "Flex" with a 68 unstrung RDC measurement they would make their money back on the model in one year. Getting a strung PD RDC measurement down to the 65-66 range would open up a whole new world of customers that want a flexible Pure Drive.

Don't listen to the naysayers who say a PD is supposed to be stiff. Ask yourself this: does any other tennis company listen to their rec customers? No they don't. A PS17 isn't a PD Flex. And neither is a Pure Aero. Make the PD Flex and it will sell.

Thousands upon thousands of rec players can't play with a 73/74 RDC Pure Drive. Compete the Pure Drive line with a Pure Drive Flex. [emoji4]

I gave up on my Pure Drives in 2010. I know ex collegiate 4.5 players who did the same. Here are three frames by two former collegiate Pure Drive users, who get TE with PDs.

@g4driver we can't reveal much information at this point but Spring 2018 is the target release date.

Thanks much. Spring is March 20th [emoji6] So please reveal as much as you can when you are legally able.

Hoping for a 100 square inch "PDish" frame with a mid 60s Strung RDC (64-67) - a spec frame that neither Babolat nor Yonex seem to produce.

Looking forward to reading more.

I don't understand why this test considering the racquet is already available.
I hope Babolat got some feedback from players who tested prototypes before the frame was released.
Isn't it how brands craft new racquets?
