Diet of a Champion

"I like to start the day with some warm water and lemon, some silver drops, they are good for the bacteria as well as detoxing," Djokovic said. "I like to have a green juice or a green smoothie with spinach, leafy greens and some spirulina."

Djokovic has eaten a plant-based diet for the past five years. “I grew up on the opposite side of the spectrum, eating meat like three times a day. But I changed that, I like it the way it is," he said. "I’m doing this intermittent fasting, I try to go for 16 hours not consuming any major calories or anything that will require too much energy digesting."

Just look at how Novak inhaled that SuperbeJuice while Jelena lags behind.

So dedicated to his craft.

What I would give to make my body do that. I would not handle eating only plants, though. I love meat way too much!

Usual pre-match meal of Jimmy Connors, winner of the most men's singles titles in open era --- two hamburgers, three glasses Coca Cola
That’s something I do, I get nervous before I go hit or go to a tournament and start eating, and I have to stretch more to get into the groove faster. Bugs the hell out of me.

In an article published in the Chicago Tribune, Jordan’s trainer of eight years, Tim Grover, revealed that while the star wasn’t a “big eater,” he ate just enough to feel energized without feeling too full. With a goal of consuming five to six meals a day, Jordan’s priority was to regulate blood sugar levels – to boost metabolism – while watching weight gain.
While you might think he was chowing down on protein to fuel muscles, according to iFood.tv, the basketball player’s diet consisted primarily of carbohydrates: 70 percent carbs, 20 percent fats, and 10 percent proteins.

Cold turkey is hard but phasing out a lot of meat is pretty easy tbh. Just gotta learn to cook with different spices/sauces/techniques

Im not anywhere close to vegetarian but half the battle is just learning to cook alternative thinks you like. I don't even like tofu and I'll sometimes go a week at a time 'accidentally' not eating meat

I probably will never phase out meat, I enjoy meat and it’s taste. I’m talking real meat, not fast food, cause that stuff makes my stomach turn.

I mean same. But I also love chickpeas in korma, rice and beans with cheese, different curries with paneer (or another cheese if I can't find it), eggs, falafel, etc.

There's just so much variety and if you cook meals for the week rather than every day it's pretty easy to just plan 3 not meat meals without thinking about it

When he mentioned intermittent fasting, 16/8, I was thinking wtf... But than realised I am mostly doing same thing, because I skip breakfast in 90% occasion... And when I do breakfast it was somehow unnecessary, I feel better when I don't eat breakfast... Difference is that I take snacks in the evening, but after I heard Novak, and read a little about intermittent fasting, I stopped doing that (wasn't problem for me). It's been only week but I kinda feel better, it's better in stomach area (I can't express in English)... Other thing I did contra to Novak is to take occasionally glass of soda in that 16 hours period... I won't do that anymore...

By the way I can eat a lot, I eat as much as I want and don't gain weight (1 kg up or down all the time)... I am 193 cm, 87 kg, but when I go to 88 kg I feel uncomfortable... I am not meat Pearson, but like to eat meat 2-3 times a week. Eat bread and other pasta in large amounts, must change that...

Anyway, I will definitely try intermittent fasting (16/8, although it's mostly 17/7 for me) and see effects, because I will be easy to do, and will stop bad habits of snacks before sleep and drinking soda without reason...

Do that makes Jordan's diet better?Everyone's body is different. I eat mostly carbons same as my wife and children and I think it's not good. Luckily we don't get weight and don't have health problems... If my brother do the same he would double him self in half year.

Novak is just so awkward. The saddest thing in tennis, apart from Thiem's underachievement, is Novak's nice guy routine. He is the perfect villain, head-to-toe, top-to-bottom, straight out of casting. But somehow he persists in wanting to be liked and he sucks at it.

That said, his transformation of mind and body to become a tennis cyborg commands respeck. The diet is probably the most important part of it too, contrary to what internet tough guys may think. Fed transformed himself as well, but not quite to the same degree and has simply ludicrous talent to fall back on. The idea of what Fed would have achieved with Novak's physical and psychological transformation is mildly frightening, but fortunately his ego prohibited it.

Rafa has won the last 3 French Opens.
Rafa has won 2 of the last 3 US Opens.
Rafa has a winning H2H record over Djokovic at the French Open and US Open.
Rafa has FIVE year-end-#1s.
Djokovic has failed to stop Rafa.
Injuries contained Rafa somewhat, prevented him from playing the 2012 US Open, 2013 Australian Open and 2014 US Open, and several retirements including 2016 Roland Garros (which Djokovic won) and 2018 US Open SF.

I agree. Novak and Helena look like ordinary people. Had they not been celebrities, no one would notice them.

The Berdychs is a different level. Both are classic models.

It shows - he looks healtheir and younger than the otehr big-3 ;) i expect him to live until 100 years old while roger and nadal will likely die in their 70s-80s.

It shows that you can be one of the greatest sportsmen of all time, without all that 'protein from meat' nonsense that everyone claims we need.

People need to realize that most things in life are down to genetics.

There are people who barely eat all day, yet are strong, fit and muscular.
Then there are people who slam meal after meal high protein etc, and look/play like ****.

I discovered this a few years ago, that my muscle mass/ fitness / energy didn't just go away because I gave up meat.. LOL
