The stage is set. But the stage won't feel like a big stage for those playing. With no fans, the underdogs might have caught a break.

Think about it. The lower ranked players are used to very little fans. It takes away pressure. No mass media to deal with either.

The top guys are used to having tons of fans at their practices. Now they will likely feel the oddness way more than other players.

Does Thiem give in to nerves without fans? Would Zverev and others?

I think the fans, or lack of will play a role in several matches if not more. But it's not just the fans, as the media is very limited as well.

How will the tourney be affected by no fans?

Definitely seems to take advantage away from the favorite.

Top tier tour players are use to playing with very little fan fair from children to teenagers. If the turn pro, and did not get WC entries into main tournaments, they had to start at the Futures/Transition ITF tournament with zero spectator.

Been a long while for many of them. Those in the top 5 specifically.

A lot of those top players won't be there (either). Rafa, Roger & Gael are staying away. Top WTA won't be there -- no Ash or Simona. Only 2 of the top 8 WTA players will be in attendance.

Perhaps I'll be watching more Modern Family and Seinfeld reruns.
