Well, congrats to Simon. He scored another great win against Fed,good start for him at his first TMC.

As for Fed,he'll need to pick it up here if he wants to advance.I don't really see him beating Murray here with the way he's playing, maybe he'll score a win against Roddick but that's about it if he doesn't raise his game.

And he finished it with ace. Congrats to Simon. Great win.

Hey man, that Ace was clearly OUT. i saw space there, Roger should have challenged the call. Maybe roger wanted out of this match,,, sick and tired of this Pusher..:???:

i think fed should really check his back. i think it's still bothering him the way he missed his first serve. most of his misses were netting the ball.

The bad back for Federer probably affected Fed's ability to work on his serve. Federer's serving percentage was way to low to win this match. His got his work cut out to qualify for sf.

Imagine if Del Potro and Federer both withdraw with injury (Federer- back, Del Potro- foot), we would have the world #27and #34 or something playing the Masters Cup, LOL! I remember gj011posting a thread earlier today that it was Stepanek and someone else really low ranked as the alternates.

Well Nadal let Simon play here and Simon returned the favour.
Federer really needs to play much better to get past the round robin group.

Well things are the way there are,he showed up so he has to try to work with what he's got.But as I said he has to pick it up if he wants to advance to semis.

LOL,that would be hilarious.I don't think it has ever happened in history of TMC that a guy ranked #34 participates.

Congrats to Simon ! I missed the final set. Whats all this talk about Feddies back ?
Did he say it bothered him , did he take a timeout or call the trainer. Or are we fans just cooking up excuses ?

haha !

sentinel... im not a fed fan... far from that. its just a note about Fedace's comments on a different thread...

I'm the last person in the world to take away any credit from Simon (He is my favorite after Federer). He played amazing and proved yet again that he's not afraid of the big guys. That said, I felt like I've watched the Madrid semi-final all over again: Federer wins the 1st set comfortably, plays OK in the 2nd set, but then the unforced errors begin to shine, and in the 3rd set he's just handing over break points with all those errors. He's doing a good job defending 3, only to gain 3 BPs in the very next game and lose some of them over very poor UFes. I'm thinking more and more everyday that Federer is turnning up to be quite the choker. And it didn't help that he served like crap today.

He attacked the net too many times unnecessarily. Whenever he has patience in long rallies he did better.

To be honest I dont think mental strength was ever a great strength of Roger's. It is surprising people to see this now that it doesnt seem to be, but it is just being exposed more now that he has more competition. He doesnt concentrate, dig deep, or fight as much as others when he is in a really close match or his opponent thinks they can come back and win a match.
