Fed will surprise a few people this year, like he did in 2017 Will finish YE inside top 4
Feder doesn't need to be in the top ten to roam (but it helps).
Feder in 5.
How can I know?I always laugh at that gif
I know you have a fundamental dislike for Federer fans, but what do you think of Federer the last six months? Is he done - for good this time?
How can I know?
Many things can happen. Maybe some luck and other players getting injuries.
But if the tour continues like now, I think he is done yes.
For all practical purposes, Federer is a Gasquet type player now. Looks elegant in the early rounds, but his ceiling is mostly R16. Can maybe vulture the occasional 250.
yeah but Fed looks REALLY elegant in the early rounds. For all practical purposes, Federer is a Gasquet type player now. Looks elegant in the early rounds, but his ceiling is mostly R16. Can maybe vulture the occasional 250.

And he is not going down in style either. He has chosen this way, in sweaty uniqlo and grunting. he who always hated grunting. Grumpy too.
He shows his true character again like he was. People never change.
Think about our great athletes, Svindal and Bjørgen. What a class the way they did it. Its tragic to watch Fed going down this way.
Because I tried to be nice to my fellow Norwegian. Why did you delete the sincere part?
Because I tried to be nice to my fellow Norwegian.
The old man is perfectly healthy mentally.^^^ Yes. And Federer recently intimated that Dubai is one of his big goals this season that he's very motivated for. This could either mean that he has found to key to success – namely to lower your expectations – or that cognitive decline has set in and he doesn't really remember the tournaments further down the calendar.
Not everyone can be:Should have retired AGES ago. I said it back when he injured his knee, and everything that happened since then proves my point. SAD end to a great player's career.
But he is objectively top 10 of all time for sure, and nobody can take that away from him.
That little midget Id take down in one go.
That little midget Id take down in one go.
Maybe, but many of the matches he lost past 1.5 years were mental lapses from winning positions AO, Wimbledon notably A handful of points - let’s call it 20 points total - were the difference in the outcome of IW, Halle and Paris Why stick a fork in someone that has a long history of winningI welcome your optimism. But in 2016 his ranking dropped because of surgery and absence.
Now it's because he is playing poorly and losing points
Federer won’t drop out of the top 10. I see him in the 8-9 range before the clay season comes around. I think that he’ll end the year either 5th of 6th.
Just to recap, here's Federer's last losses:
AO19: R16 - Tsitsipas
WTF: SF - Zverev
Shanghai: SF - Coric
Paris: SF - Djokovic
USO: R16 - Millman
Wim: QF - Anderson
A poor man's Gasquet with a better serve
Just looking at that range of results, it looks like the results of a top 4-6 player.Just to recap, here's Federer's last losses:
AO19: R16 - Tsitsipas
WTF: SF - Zverev
Shanghai: SF - Coric
Paris: SF - Djokovic
USO: R16 - Millman
Wim: QF - Anderson

Thiem, huge gap on clayNot this year. He'll drop to like #8 but then recover to finish top 5.
He's far from his best, but is he worse than Thiem, Zverev, Anderson, Isner?
Don't care about the ranking to be honest. Fed's play recently isn't good enough to start thinking about good draws for titles.
Also this thread title is misleading. Fed is guaranteed top 8 despite not defending Rotterdam this week.
I’m sure Roger was. Losing to a guy who’s never won a single tournament in his career isn’t usually indicative of good form.I wasn’t disappointed with his form in Australia
Perhaps it’s me lowering my expectations, but that loss didn’t feel as bad as ones last year felt. Tsitsipas was playing great and apart from the break point conversion, Roger didn’t look badI’m sure Roger was. Losing to a guy who’s never won a single tournament in his career isn’t usually indicative of good form.
