Looking forward to seeing what Brazil have, it’s a tough game against Serbia. England and Spain have looked the best so far, but the former doesn’t have what it takes imo. France looked good too, but too many injuries for me. Don’t think their midfield can compete with Spain and although the starters are good, they look thin on the bench. Coman is good, but after him? Thuram? That’s about it. Compare that with England bringing on Foden, Rashford and Grealish. Spain having Morata, Llorente, Koke, Williams, Pino etc..

France have the XI, but not sure they have the squad.

I would have agreed with MMH if I was on to see it. Actually, I do still agree with him. I've been giving Richarlison. stick for years so he can enjoy a day in the spotlight. I'd like to see the whole Brazilian team running riot, but not getting carried away yet.

South Africa were/are the only country to not make it out of group stage, back in 2010. They beat France and got a draw with Mexico so that has already surpassed Qatar. If Qatar loses again, then they will be the first host nation to lose all their matches. That would be the cherry on top.

Bellingham and Rice, for all they are hyped to the high heavens, were totally outdone by two players of far lesser repute in Adams and Musah today - the difference in dynamism and energy was staggering. Saka, another who is talked up a lot, was easily nullified. Meanwhile, the much-maligned Maguire didn't put a foot wrong and was probably the best England player on the night.

America were again nice to watch and moved the ball sharply but tired later in the game. I hope they can do the business against Iran as they're a good fun team who I think could take some scalps.

I agree. USA deserve a lot of credit. Suffocating in midfield and a high line at the back, any side is going to struggle against that, especially when the USA play it so well.

Wasn’t impressed with the front 3 for England, Sterling and Saka were the wrong type of wingers for a game like that. Not their fault, but Grealish and Foden would have been more horses for courses.

Kane didn’t look fit, but he was a big problem. He was doing his drop deep into midfield to get on the ball thing. With the USA leaving no space with the high line and suffocating midfield? He was just adding to the congestion. He should’ve been hanging on the shoulder of the last defender. Try to get them to drop a bit deeper and be there when England did manage to get in behind. The handful of times they did he was awol.
