Taylor "The All-American Hero of Democracy and Freedom" Fritz is going to be the next big thing in tennis. He will win Indian Wells 2017 first, and then proceed to get at least to the quarter finals of every masters and slam he participates in. In 2018, he will win the Australian Open and the US Open, in addition to 3 extra masters. He will end his career with 19 slams, and his main rival Zverev will end with 9.

Dude he won against the palindrome, it's a good win but no need for the hype train considering Cilic's capabilities of losing anywhere.

Fritz had a good match, but Cilic also had a bad one, and style wise he played into Fritzs strengths and didn't exploit his weaknesses. Fritz still has a ways to go before having consistent results like this.

Nope....Fritz has not proven he can even be king for one week...much less amassing enough points over 40+ weeks to be world number 1.

Let see him string a few good matches and win a 250 first.

First ATP top 10 win and zero wins at slams so far? Not so fast, OP.

Before his total collapse after Acapulco'16, I was confident he would make steady progress towards seeding at IW/Miami and the slams. Instead marriage and impending fatherhood got in the way and he regressed. Now, even with that first Top 10 win, he needs another win just to approach top 100.

Hard work, steady improvement and staying injury free...seeding by the start of '18 is possible. That's when he could jump into competition for top 20. At best, 2019 will be the date I could believe a slam title is in play.

Guy is already wifed up with a kid on the way. That's all I need to know about his (lack of) passion for tennis.

The baby boy is two months old now.

He will be a conflicted young one...on which sneakers to wear: Air JORDAN or Chuck TAYLOR.

One or more of the young Americans could be top 5. But I don't see that by the end of next year definitely not fritz being number 1. Sock has been on tour for like 5 years and is just now threatening to crack top 10. Give it until 2022 or '23

I'm pulling for him. He's got to toughen up a bit though. I love his baseline game and he can hit absolute cannons.

Yup and I'll find a wife, get kids and settle down in a suburbian house with a white picket fence by the end of 2018.

LOL.

Anyone rooting against an American being a big star in tennis really doesn't get it...
I don't see people rooting against him just people being realistic. It's too early to say he will be a number 1 guy people talking about it puts so much pressure on these kids and it's no wonder they flame out. Does he have the potential? If course but patience is key. It will likely take at least 4-5 years for him to even enter his prime
