Good job at Shanghai Masters, young players, no more old guard left in the tournament!

Nice to see the young guns are rising.

It is actually pretty easy to beat these old guards like Federer, Joker and nadaloser. Play aggressive and dictate the rally is the key to victory. Move them around the court, or you get jerk around by them. Change direction on every stroke: if they go cross court, you hit down the line; if they go down the line, you go cross court. Physically these more than 30 year oldies just CANNOT keep up with the 20 year young guns, they just don’t have the stamina for a 3 to 5 set match with long rallies running side to side!

Nadal didn't play, Fed played like crap (lol at that 2nd set still). However beating Djokovic was pretty impressive, though, especially cause he's gunning for that year-end-no-1 ranking.

Some Fedfans are really getting a bit too overexcited...

But those no 1 records ARE going down. Perhaps the slam ones too.

Novak losing in QF gave Rafa a new equal record with RF, which he will surpass next year. Check out weakera's new thread for more...

So no "nadaloser", not this year...

Overexcited? I am just tired of seeing these 30 year oldies, time for them to go, just like I want a new wife every few years.

At least these guys will have enough energy for the next tournament and wont have to use their "old man" rule to screw the fans

Well I guess that takes care of the theory. Now all they have to do is execute! ;)

Yeah, like it's very easy to play that sort of tennis when big3 aren't in cold form...
Zverev happened to serve out of his skin (out of nowhere) & tsitsipas happened to hit out of his skin (out of nowhere) just to edge out dinosaur fed and old novak.

what happened to the great "age shift"? Not a single player in the semis older than 23.

This is the first time four players younger than 24 have made up the semis of a Masters tournament since Hamburg 1999.

This will be the first time someone wins Shanghai who is not named Djokovic (2012, 2013, 2015, 2018), Murray (2010, 2011, 2016), or Federer (2014, 2017) since 2009 when Davydenko won it.

Contrary to the many "experts" who claim it to be an inferior shot in modern game, the one hander is very much alive in modern tennis.

Absolutely, 1hbh is still alive and kicking with guys like sissypas and thiem. After a couple years of research by my buddies and me, a slight change in wrist angle and contact point, 1hbh can handle high bounce top spin from lefty forehand like nadaloser with ease.
