Hardest Men's Regions for ITA Kick-off

Which regional hosts stand the best chance of being upset in the ITA Kick-off?

Here are some candidates based on last year's rankings:
1) Michigan has to play NC State and the winner of Baylor/UGA
2) Florida State has to play Texas Tech and the winner of Tennessee/Tulane
3) Columbia has to play Virginia Tech and the winner of Kentucky/Dartmouth
4) Oklahoma has to play the winner of Vanderbilt/Notre Dame
5) Texas A&M has to play the winner of Cal/UVA

Any other obvious ones I'm missing?

Michigan and Texas A&M are in the most danger, especially with Patrick Kypson turning pro a month ago.
Agreed. Michigan graduated Knight and others while UGA has two top freshmen coming in January and Walker back while Baylor has Roy Smith and possibly #1 jr Brooksby-does he start in Jan or fall? Texas A&M who graduated several and lost Kypson will face the other top recruit Nakishima (who won a Future in '18) who will be at UVA plus Wiersholm is back along with Gianni and other strong freshmen and sophs. UVA has to be at least top 16 this year. I hope UVA (or UNC) can end Wake's domination in the ACC if not beyond.

I don't think he starts until the fall.
Be careful what you wish for. Virginia dominated the ACC for a VERY long time (140 straight conference wins).

I'd prefer UNC or longer shot but talented Notre Dame to win ACC over UVA but be happy for anyone to beat Wake. Got to support teams with at least 1 US guy in top 5. Ironic to me that Trump invited Wake to White House last year probably because Sean Hannity's son is on Wake team (only plays in fall when everyone gets to play). Wake has a big roster of 16 including 7 Americans; a few of those may share line 6.

So, Trent Bryde was not in the lineup for Georgia in a tight loss against Baylor. I heard he was playing in a Futures earlier in the week. Odd.

He was signed up for the Palm Coast Future which started 1/21 but didnt play (he must have withdrawn after 1/17). College tennis ranks guy who previewed ITA kickoff said on his site, twitter or podcast that Trent was injured. Sounded like it was a minor injury and that he would not miss many matches.

Tulane!! So happy for them that they finally qualify for a national 16 event. They have knocking on the door the past few years and they deserve it.

Great win for Geller to beat Laurent in straight sets considering Laurent beat Brandon Holt in January, and freshman Rotsaert crushed a ranked player. The two of them easily beat a high ranked dubs team. Stanford has shown its young top two guys can win at singles and dubs vs high level opponents. The other 4 lines still have to prove they can compete with top 10 teams.

No. I doubt Wake Forest will be the 1-seed with the loss to UVA. Ohio State has to be the 1 in my opinion. The ITA will do some kind of hidden ranking this week. The seeding they come out with for the draw will indicate how the rankings changed. You are right, though, that they seed all 16 teams unlike the women where they just seed 8 and random draw the rest.

Stanford just beat #5 USC last week, does that mean they move up the rankings and will play lesser seed in the 1st round ?

They are #10 so they could move up the #6. If they are moved up, as they deserve to be, they could end up playing Baylor or Columbia which should be easy wins
Hmmmmm Columbia would be easier than Baylor. In my opinion, Baylor is a dark horse for the tournament. The have sneakily good depth on the team and Roy Smith and Will Little are playing crazy good this year. Baylor doubles is also very strong so it would be difficult to take the doubles point from them.
