Head Graphene Touch Prestige

Hey Guys, hope you're all well. I haven't posted in a while so I thought about starting a new thread on possibly our favourite (or not anymore) topic for many of us!

What do you think will happen for the next line of Prestiges which will surely come out early 2018?

Considering the changes Touch brought to the other racquet lines, do you think it will be an improvement over the Graphene XT prestiges? Less Stiff? Or will it be even more gimmicky like the other lines?

One of my main wishes (realistic one at least) would be that Head brings back the IG mold for the prestige pro and not this awful one the pro is with now. I really like the TGT293.1 and don't see why they had to change the mold really...

Touch is just the new marketing hype/spin that helps to keep them driving in new sales.
Demo / try the last 3 gens of whatever model you are interested in.
See if the new one makes you play better or is worth the full prices.
Let your hands decide, not the ego or head marketing..

Unfortunately I do not have much time to demo racquets and I haven't had the chance to try any of these Touch frames yet so that is why I'm asking this here. Plus I can play well with a horrible feeling racquet too so that's not really what I am looking for. I'm more hoping to find a Head racquet (recent) that would actually feel good too, like the older iterations.

In a nutshell, you really need to touch it yourself. Takes time and effort to find the right frame for your game. We all are different!
We maybe able to help you narrow a list down.
Demo is always a good path. Or even borrow from others..

Or do what the average rec player do:
Buy the one that looks the best..
Buy the one you favorite player uses....

I would like to see Head make at least one racquet that is 325-330g in weight, similar to the PT 57a that Head traditionalists can play with. At present they already have radicals, speeds, instincts and extremes that appeal to juniors, it's time they had just one racquet to fit the mould of what Yonex offer with the Duel G 330, or Volkl with their 10 series and Wilson with their RF to name a few.
Currently there is nothing in their line that I feel compelled to buy. It seems Head are trying to push everyone into using light racquets or firm wide beams which I'm not going to do when I have other options from the brands I,be just referred to.

Head is like a person, who refuses to admit they are wrong, and refuses to change the subject. They are going all in with Graphene, and refuse to produce frames their customers have begged for.

My prediction:
They will continue to destroy the legacy that was the Prestige, and put out a bastardized frame and promise it will give you 80% more spin/power/control/women/money/happiness :)

Agree..head was once one of the greats..now...well...
They have some really good molds...just got to get back that secret recipe everone used to like....could start with their twin tubes technology..
Image the Speed with twin tube and lets say the the feel of counterval..
That would be a winner...

I went to my stringers today and apparently the Head rep had just been in with the new prestige line (i just missed him!) and they are planning to release it in Australia in Dec 2017 Europe and the U.S. probably earlier.
He said they are releasing 5 variations however Australia will only get two of them (whats new, we always get stiffed ha ha) and that the Prestige Pro is changing to a 95' with a 16 x 19 pattern.I think the MP is too but not 100% on that.
I was in a bit of a rush today so forgot to ask him what they looked like but i guess it might not be the final cosmetic anyway so i will ask him tomorrow when i pick up my re string.
Hopefully i will have some more info soon.

Thank you for the info! Please let us know if you get more info and feedback on the cosmetics.

5 variations though. Meaning we get a MP, Pro, S, Rev Pro, and a MID ? One can only hope.. Or maybe the PWR version is also considered as a variation..

changing up the MP? That would be the silliest thing they have ever done.

I do the the 95 option though

You are welcome Tangi.
I picked up my racket today and had a good chat to the guys and can confirm, the MP and the Pro will both be a 95'
The Rev will be a 93', the S i am not sure about forgot to ask.The Pwr model will not be in this series(don't know why they did it in the first place) they will also carry a Tour model with a 16 x 18 pattern which will come in a 99' head size(not 98 or 100' ha ha)
The cosmetic is mostly black with a small amount of red inside the top of the hoop the guys said it looks great. No idea if its glossy or matte finish.
So seems like someone is smoking something good at 'Head-Quarters'o_O:D

But but... Nobody on the "Tour" plays with such a racquet and with these specs... New variation new lie from Head? o_O

They already are 95's though. It just depends if the new 95 will still be the same old 95 or a "Head" 95 (i.e. smaller than that)
The Head 95 is bigger than a Wilson 95. But seems smaller than a tecnifibre 95. Not sure which one it's gonna be. But then again, H22 and H19 heads seem way bigger than the Blade 98, much like tecnifibre's.

I'm afraid I have not been impressed with any Head offering for some time now. I thought Touch might solve the issues with graphene but the demos I've had have been poor. Contrast Wilson and CV where that addition has been fairly positive - the Burn 100 CV is excellent for example. So unfortunately I don't hold out a lot of hope for the Prestige Touch

Hopefully Head will not keep pushing this overly wide string pattern like the MXG (16x18), Speed MP, Instinct, etc. if they tightened up these string patterns only a little bit, it would make a huge difference. But Head has proved since 2014 that they don't have a clue about tennis, or that they just done care. Of course, it should be no surprise that with each model year Head gets further away from playable racquets.

I hope that the other manufacturers will ignore them and not adopt anything they do (it looks like Babolat unfortunately took some of Head's ideas on the Pure Aero - wide string pattern, weight toward the head).

It's funny, a couple weeks ago I picked up a brand new $59 Flexpoint Prestige MP with the plastic on the grip and the free dampener (which I don't use anyways but whatever), and while it cost about a fourth of what this version's "Prestige MP" will cost, it probably plays at least 4 times better in almost every respect.

respectfully disagree with that assertion, BUT, great buy on a fexpoint prestige. i had the mid for awhile but ultimately didnt see the magic. its a very honest frame, though. as are all (most) of the prestiges.

Flexpoint MP, much maligned for the stupid holes, but better than anything since...

Completely agree with you, they go so over the top with these open string patterns does anyone actually want them ?or are we just grumpy old men complaining about things changing all the time ?ha ha ha ,i told myself i would never turn into one of them ha ha :D

PA is not that crazy open, only 2mm more in crosses than my Angell 16x19 patern. Of course, control is not the same as 18x20 pattern, but I don't find any problem controlling the ball, even more, not bad at all also when you need or want to hit flat.

The major surprise for me is that you can play also finese tenis with PA too and on the other hand you have power as backup when you want to crush the ball. I understand now why is such a big hit, really easy to play with it.

Well I didn't take any pics of the unused frame, but I guess I could take some now and try to upload. It's strung with Head Hawk 1.25 at 52/48 with some lead on the head and a bunch on the handle. Comes in at 372 g, 30.8 cm, ~350 SW and (I estimate) 15 TW. No RA stiffness measurement, but hits like a dream so I know It's flexy (RA isn't too much of a factor anyways).

i bet with all that SW you got some serious momentum going for the epic smash.

They say HEAD racquets since the Graphene XT edition have the headsize measured from inside the hoop like frames from any other company, so maybe they've just come back to the old mould and marketed them that way. The sad thing about this is that probably most pre-XT Prestige users will be scared to death by the "95", unaware that it's what they've always been using, and won't even give the new Pro and MP a swing.

Well, one of the things I like about my (unfortunately discontinued) racquet is that it has a relatively open string pattern despite the relatively small head. The eight-mains-in-throat of the Rev Pro kind of set me off, although they're not the only thing about it. That said, I don't come from HEAD and I can see how an old-time user can dislike this change (as I said, the racquet I'm currently using is discontinued, so I know how it feels not to have your favourite specifications available anymore).

Nothing to do with measurements, it is marketing. Look up CAD measurements posted on this board. IIRC Extremes were >100 sq. inches, [K]88 was closer to 91 sq.inch. etc. Everybody does this. Look at Dunlop. Same mold advertised as having 97 or 98 sq.inches. Pacifics X Tour is advertised as a 97 sq. inch. but the same mold under the Fischer brand name was advertised as 98 sq. inches - the 97 headsize was/is quite hip. I wouldn't be surprised if the soon to be realised Prestige Tour which is supposed to be 99 sq.inches will in fact be the mold of the Prestige Team which was advertised as 102 sq. inches.

Why not re create a Classic for us Prestige purists and then get creative with other alternatives for the line? I do not know of anybody playing with the MP that would not buy at least a classic to experience a retro tennis trip every once in a while. They should do an exact copy including paint job and all. The brownish red version in my opinion is the most iconic incarnation if not the best.

Currently using IG Prestige MP and would like to customize it to feel like the classic but with the benefit of a larger sweetspot. Any suggestions?
