Sounds like the pro is a larger, more forgiving ultra tour 18x20

TW reviews - the Pro is great for old school guys like Mark and doubles players. The MP is too light and underpowered.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize that the tour model would have probably been a huge hit with the people demoing the MP, and would compete well with the Blade, Pure Strike and Vcore Pro - all very popular frames.

At least Head is starting to make good frames again. It sounds like the feel of these is a lot more classic, but if there is not enough plow and depth, nice feel is more of a luxury. I still think their best line is the Extreme and has been for years, with the Speed a nice runner up.

HEAD Gravity Pro – the heaviest racquet in the series. More control, higher swing weight, more plow-through, thinner beam, a bit tougher to swing unless you are an advanced player. Nice, soft feel on impact while still retaining good power. Not a Pure Drive by any means, but a more forgiving player racquet. Does not require any customization in my opinion. My favorite of the bunch and a contestant for next racquet of choice for me. Score: 90/100 for me

HEAD Gravity Tour – plays quite close to the Pro but with a bit less weight in the handle and a thicker beam for slightly more power. Easier to transition to for someone coming from a Wilson Blade or Tecnifibre Tfight XTC 305. Lower static weight, but more weight in the head to compensate. Therefore it plays more stable than its weight. I prefer the heft of the Gravity Pro, but these play very closely. Score: 85/100

HEAD Gravity MP – a more open pattern and even lower weight so easy to swing. Easy racquet to play with for intermediate players. Gives you good top-spin, comfort, and decent power. Does not have the stability or the precision of the Tour and the Pro, but still a fine racquet for advanced players with just a bit of customization. More spin-friendly than the Tour and the Pro and a good choice for a wide group of players. Score. 80/100

I asked the head.rep about this, he did not know
I the rectangular handle shape was an issue for me in the past,, but this square shape is equally as shoking
the gravity handles did not seem as square to me,, I didn't notise them as much
the new head.radical however is very notisable

i am somewhat amused that head is recycling their old tech (IG speed head shape) and re-branding it as a “massive sweet spot,” designed for the modern game bc sweet spot is higher in stringbed, etc. marketing FTW!

yes i'd agree with that. in reality the difference is probably subtle but I think gravity is a good candidate for 98 head size.

Yea, but the whole industry has always been like that the past decades, right? I think the marketing deps. have been focusing on communicating innovations that do not really exist, a graphite racket stays a graphite racket.

Looks like the Prince 100 Pro 18 20 is a direct competitor. This Pro seems to have a smidge more power but twist weight is higher in the Prince 15 to 14.5 ..... I guess the phantom pro 100 p even with a more open pattern is along this line too.

Has anyone compared the Blade 98 18X20 with the Gravity Tour ??

Specs are very similar: same weight, balance and string pattern, with the Gravity having 1point less in stiffness, slightly lower sw and 1mm thicker beam.

I did. They have both very sweet feel... Both very comfortable. I think Blade is thinner than Gravity. Tour is 22... blade is 20.6 beam. Tour will have quite a bit higher launch angle and easier power and spin... by easy power i mean on defensive shots...stabbing or picking the ball up... But it will not be as precise as Blade. I don't want to sound too dramatic but I think blade 18x20 control was in a different league, particularly (or probably) b/c i am relatively more of a flat hitter than spin. Blade higher SW initially made it little harder to swing but I am used to it now. Blade has a better plow, meaning it will have more power when both racquets are swung out at full on swing at the same speed. Blade you will rely more on the RHS.. I play stock... tail weighing made it clunkier for me. My initial goal was to make it more HL but static weight increase did not work for me in blade. I am selling my Tour and will stick with Blade. They are both really solid...depends on your style etc obviously.

Hi,

Yep I did. Wilson QC being very bad, it all depends if you receive a racket which is on specs or not. If both rackets are on specs I would say that the Blade has more control and a more muted feeling which is a better feeling for me. I tried both and decided to keep the blade. But the Gravity is a good racket

Has anyone tried adding weight to their Gravity tours? I am planning on adding about 3 gms at 12'O clock at least and may be another 3 gms at 10 and 2 but want to check what others have done and feel about the results of additional weight.

What is your grip size? I am interested in the Tour if you decide to sell it.

I increased the weight of my Gravity Tours to (unstrung) 310 grams, 320 mm balance, and 297 SW. I also changed the grip pallets to the old TK76 pallets. This setup feels perfect for me. I must admit I did not play them stock.

I am using 2 over grips, collar and a 3 gram dampener on the MP which brings it to a fighting weight of 325 grams..works and feels nicely in this set up..

I am trying to bring the weight of my gravity tours to 342 - 345 gms. Added an overgrip, about 5 grams inside the handle using Polifil micro beads (https://www.google.com/shopping/pro...4EDdlfB-I81l2NBlu9esOWJCnP64VNjsaAqgXEALw_wcB)

And then added about 3 gms total to the head at 10,2 and 12'O clock. With the dampner, the racquet is at 342 gms. It feels good with nice plow. Balance has chanced to more headlight compared to stock setup, so may be I will add some more weight in the hoop to keep the balance same a stock

Matching is relative especially when you are comparing two different racquets. My two tours themselves didn't match and had a 5 gms difference unstrung. I think if you are trying to match the 305 gms weight of the tour, just pick the balance point of the tour and add weight to your racquet to bring it to 305 gms.

The tennis warehouse tool is really useful for that. Just put in the inputs and desired results and the tool will help you with where to add weights in the racquet.

Hi all,

I know this thread has been quiet for a while, but I just bought a Head Gravity Pro and thought I'd take a chance that someone might be able to help me out on a query.

Two things:

1. While taking the plastic off of the handle of my new racket, I noticed a small round sticker with 'Q/C F' on it. Anyone ever come across this and know what this means? Started to worry it stood for 'Quality/Control Fail'.

2. I've never had a 18x20 set up (always played 16x19), am used to a much thicker beam and not used to the Head Gravity hoop shape. That said, I've been a bit surprised that I feel a bit of vibration when I bounce the ball hard just north of the sweet spot. Is this to be expected with me making such a transition from what I'm used to or do you think it might be related to my point 1...and that I've bought a dodgy racket?

Any helpful thoughts would be very much appreciated, thanks.

FYI, weight strung (with Lynx Tour 17) is 334g. Two over grips and dampener takes it to 348g. Feels comfortable and no arm pain (why I'm changing racket), but still, a bit of a tinny, pingy vibration feel at the top of the racket.
