Henin (Probably) has a new boyfriend!

Hey all,

So this just in:

Justine Henin, world number one, probably has a new boyfriend. His name is Grégory Philippin and he is from the french-speaking part of Belgium. He is a politician in the city of Ans and knows Justine through her brother. He was spotted during the Quarter-final at wimby against Williams.
The press confronted Grégory and he didn't deny it. He said they were really good friends but that he couldn't say anything more.

Good for Justine, because Pierre-Yves was a terrible guy...

No, but I know a lot of people who have. Before he knew Justine he played a lot of tennis here in Belgium and a few people I knew played him in the French-speaking part of Belgium. And they all said he was not a nice guy! Incredibly stupid and arrogant... The guy breathes ignorance is bliss...

Serious Note

On a serious note. . .

Perhaps Saram's comment rings with some truth. I'm not familiar with divorce proceedings in Belgium, but isn't possible that her divorce isn't even final yet? Even so, 6 months after the ending of a long relationship/marriage isn't a terribly long time to bring your life back into focus (mourning period?).

With what has happened with Henin's personal life (childhood death of mother, estrangement from family and rest of family) I wouldn't be at all surprised if she suffers from some kind of abandonment complex. The only stable person in her life has been her coach and the fact that only 6 months after a divorce she's serious enough with another man to have him come to Wimbledon suggests to me that she's not comfortable on her own. This also implies that she isn't happy with who she is and all that's happened to her. I'm willing to bet that she'd trade her fame/fortune/talent for a normal family life and family history, a loving and stable marriage, and a fulfilling career. She seems to want a normal family more than anything.

I'm no psychologist and perhaps someone with a psychology background can chime-in on this. Perhaps I'm over-analyzing, but I thought it was interesting.

Interesting point and it's entirely possible. However, when was the last time Justine had JUST a close friend in her box during a major? In fact, when was the last time she had any friends in her box during a major? Does she even have friends to put in her box?

Another thing that I found interesting is that she was only reunited with her brother approximately 6 months ago and already he is hooking her up with people to date? Very interesting. . .

on the surface the facts may well suggest that Justine is dependent on a select number of people in her life, which is a much smaller group than normal people. However, if you consider that an athlete's life is very intensive and does not leave much time for normal socialisation, it is very possible that this is just a product of her circumstances. Add to the fact that Justine may well be slightly on the introverted side and the phenomena in her life can be very adequately explained.

A psychological diagnosis is only relevant when the circumstances indicate that the person is suffering from a diminished quality of life or significant distress such that normal life is significatly impeded. All of these are clearly not present in Justine's case, so clinical psychological assistance is unnecessary.
