Hi,
I’m experiencing really dull and stiff stringbed lately, and I’m trying a lot of stuff.

one of the things that came to my mind was trying hyper g mains with a softer round string on crosses.

I tried hyper g mains 23kg/ prolineII crosses 22kg

I would expect nice byte and SnapBack but after 40 minutes I think the stringbed starts to lock on my sweetspot and gets very uncomfortable and stiff, I lose control, playability and my arm hurts.

what would help me in this situation? Maybe hyper g isn’t good for a hybrid cause it’s starts to cut the crosses?
Or lowering the tension on crosses would help more? Or maybe a higher gauge on crosses?

I’m experiencing stiffness with any stringbed after 1 hour o hitting.

I want soft and comfort with poly

If soft and comfort is what you’re looking for, why not go for a multi? Like Velocity or NXT? I play with multi crosses, and the feel is really plush.

on a different note; I see you are searching really hard to fix the issue on the material side.

I have been a distance runner for over 30 years now and around my 30th birthday I developed a knee injury due to 2 reasons: ageing (leading to lower “load capacity” of my body) and different training patterns. I struggled for 2 years until I faced the fact that I needed long term rest to heal AND to re-engineer my technique, because it clearly was not working anymore.

I spent 6 months to change my stride and foot placement. The muscle aches were incredible and kept coming back for months. These days I run in a whole new way and I could not do it the “old” way. I’m completely re-wired.

the reason I am sharing this, is that you may not solve this on the material side.

Best of luck, I hope you get back to normal soon.

Thank you. Appreciate your sharing.
Yes I’m trying to fix it with my stringer but with my old one the arm seems not to hurt... and with the same strings and tensions.
But maybe I’ll try synthetic.

I’ve tried one or two times Only.
What synthetic can perform like poly? In terms of power?

But is it normal thE stringbed Locking like this so soon? I’ve been playing for more than 10 years almost daily and undone remember this feeling... I used to have playability until it break.
Now instead of the stringbed getting softer until it breaks, no.... it gets stiffer and stiffer. Really strange. If it is from the stringing job than it will be the same using a synthetic or a poly. I’ll have to try

Ghost Wire or Cream crosses?

I’ve found, with my limited experience, that a softer cross is dented/notched by harder mains and locks the stringbed up faster than when a softer main is used. When the notch forms on the main strings, they slide on the crosses for a longer period of time because the crosses remain smooth and relatively notchless. However, this is with poly/poly, SG/poly and multi/poly, I don’t have any experience with poly/multi or poly/SG. Poly/SG seemed popular, not sure if it still is though.

The last days I've strung my 105 sqi racquet with a Hyrer-G hybrid.
I use the poly string (Hyper-G) on crosses.

The setups were those:

a) Mains 22.5 kg / 50 lbs, Volkl Synthetic Gut 16 & Crosses 20 kg / 44 lbs, Hyper G 16
The feel was nice and soft but the balls were flying.

I cut them after 2-3 hours and I repeat the same setup at higher tension.

b) Mains 26 kg / 57 lbs, Volkl Synthetic Gut 16 & Crosses 25 kg / 55 lbs, Hyper G 16
I have it on the racquet 3-4 hours now. The feel is hard and not so nice (but improves slowly).
The balls are not flying but still you can't swing very hard as I want to.

Imho, this hybrid setup is not the appropriate for racquets with medium and above power.
As Rafedovic mentions with this order, poly on crosses, there isn't any notch on the strings in both cases, but I'm not a super power or super spin hitter...
The weather temp was about 25-30°C all these days.

I used to play hyper g 16L for like 2/3 years straight full stringbed 24kg Mains and crosses.
But maybe hyper g isn’t that great for a hybrid.
It seems to cut the crosses at least it’s what I’m experiencing, but I’m experiencing this with any string so I don’t know what’s really happening.
In the first hour The stringbed is ok but after one hour it starts to get really stiff and locked... after 2/3 hours it starts to get softer due to tension loss but the strings start to move around... you can’t spin with power strokes and with feel/low powered strokes the string doesn’t have liveliness and flexibility to play with control... so that’s what I’m experiencing for months now.its like I’m helping the string instead of the opposite.

I was thinking about trying hyper g 16, because I’ve seen that some strings with higher gauges are actually more spin friendly.
with outlast 16 in the crosses seems to be a good combo since outlast has low string to string friction.
Some strings with lower gauge actually get more stiff and will let mains slide better if used on crosses...
But I don’t think any of this will help me because this seems to be a problem with the string jog I don’t know how and why but I’m the only one who complaints.
String goes really stiff after 1 hour or less and then it just starts to move around a lot and the ball just flying randomly and it’s so stiff.

You're not the only one! Hyper-G is a lose-lose situation to me. I'd strung the first set 2-3 years ago, I hated it and I've decide to make this hybrid now with the second one, instead to through it in the garbage - which maybe would be a bettter idea...

Ghost Wire or Cream crosses?

This week, for the first time, I tried an edgy poly (TB 16L) with a round poly in the crosses. It was more comfortable than a full bed of edgy poly and I felt I got more spin due to the snap back of the round poly and the edges of TB. I was thinking of putting Cream in the crosses next time with a different edgy string - not sure which one yet. Cream will definitely give more comfort - it's the softest feeling poly I have used that doesn't play like a multi.

What do you think about hyper g 16 mains and outlast 16 crosses?
I’ve seen that outlast has a great string to string friction for letting the mains slide

I screwed up one of my string jobs which was supposed to be full Hyper-G and had to trash half the set. I decided to put Kirschbaum Xplosive Speed in the crosses because I had half a set lying around. I haven't hit with it yet but it feels like a pretty comfortable set up as Xplosive is pretty soft for poly

The problem can be the mains start to cut in the crosses... that’s my doubt. When I tried hyper g 16L with prolineII in the crosses that’s what happened, the stringbed locked pretty quickly

My usual hybrid with Hyper-G is with Gamma TNT2 in the crosses. It's hard to avoid the lockup with poly/multi but for the first 4-5 hours it's a really good setup. Hard to get much more out of Poly anyway
