Because I actually remember Djokovic almost reaching the semifinals in 2011 with 1 win. (1 very close win, and in one of his losses he was totally destroyed). But when it comes to Nadal he never gets out of the group unless he has 3 wins, and even then they try to find reasons to keep him out.
He cannot advance because of one reason: because Zverev played like hot garbage against Tsitsipas. Had Zverev won that match Nadal would be in the semifinals. This tournament is a JOKE, and I honestly hope Nadal will never play it again.Because Djokovic's group was trash as far as winning matches, himself included. Nadal's was very very good so one person gets the short end of the stick. That's the way it works. That's why you have to either win all your matches or be better than the third and fourth guy in your group so you can advance. Stop trying to make this out to be the WTF against Nadal. He was 3rd best in his group so he cannot advance.

Federer was in the same situation. But lucky to him Thiem beat Djokovic and secured the first place in the group, so all Federer had to do is win his last 2 matches. On the other hand Zverev was trash against Tsitsipas, and because of that things got complicated, and Nadal had no chances left.No he cannot advance because HE played like hot garbage against Zverev.

They were not that complicated. If Nadal had beaten Medvedev and Tsitsipas in straights, he could have advancedFederer was in the same situation. He wouldn't, because Zverev would still have the advantage due to winning their match. They were not that complicated. If Nadal had beaten Medvedev and Tsitsipas in straights, he would have advanced
Wouldn't Nadal be out already if it was a "normal" format?
Yes, but he could have tied Tsitsipas and Zverev in sets won/lost, and it would go to the next tiebreaker - games won/lost. He could have advanced if that ratio were high enoughHe wouldn't, because Zverev would still have the advantage due to winning their match.
This is nonsense. I suspect you’re trolling lol.I wonder how Nadal can win a title in WTF if:
1. He almost never plays it. He skipped it 5 times in this decade
2. Even when he does play they do everything to keep him out of the tournament. They would find a reason to get him out even if he had 3 wins in his group.
21 Slams and no WTF < 20 Slams and 6 WTF.
Nadal could win 6 more RG's but it wouldn't do as much for his legacy as one WTF title.
I honestly think Nadal just blew his last chance at winning WTF when he lost to Zverev. His HC form was great and he was well rested.
Looks like Fed's ""GOAThood"" is safe for now.
I'm not joking. Nadal should NEVER play this pathetic tournament again. There are enough tournaments which respect him as a player.
You would see same reactions from Nadal in a 250 event. This tournament means something to the big 3, judging from their reaction during the matches, and after winning.
The tide is turning.
You would see same reactions from Nadal in a 250 event.
When would you see Nadal play a 250 event?
Now he doesn't play them, but he used to. Funny enough, even there he is more respected than in WTF.When would you see Nadal play a 250 event?
Doha.

As a Nadal fan i find this ridiculous, he didn´t deserved to qualify let´s face it... he won his 2 matches the most tight possible and lost his match very easy so, he didn´t deserve to advance.I wonder how Nadal can win a title in WTF if:
1. He almost never plays it. He skipped it 5 times in this decade
2. Even when he does play they do everything to keep him out of the tournament. They would find a reason to get him out even if he had 3 wins in his group.
I already gave an example about Rome this year. Nadal destroyed all his opponents while Djokovic reached the final thanks to a disgusting choke from Del Potro and then winning another very close match against Schwartzman. Yet they had ABSOLUTELY equal chances in the final, both needed to win 2 sets in order to win the title. Nadal never got ANY advantage despite winning matches easier. But in WTF it is somehow different...As a Nadal fan i find this ridiculous, he didn´t deserved to qualify let´s face it... he won his 2 matches the most tight possible and lost his match very easy so, he didn´t deserve to advance.
They would find a reason to get him out even if he had 3 wins in his group. No there wouldn´t be a reason LOL, Nadal earned the YE#1, I´m "happy" with the WTF that Nadal had.
Djokovic also should have never been in Rome final this year. Yet he was, and could fight for the title.Nadal was lucky to be in this position, he should have lost v Medvedev and he should have lost today.
Nadal won 4 matches easier in Rome. Yet he didn't get ANY advantage in the final. On the other hand Zverev and Tsitsipas got the advantage here.Nadal got whacked by Zverev, barely scraping past Medvedev and Tsitsipas, and he narrowly missed out because another two guys had a better sets ratio.
Meanwhile Djokovic won 4/4 matches to get to the Rome final and *GET THIS* he was given a chance to win the title.
What the hell is going on?!
Yeah, win his last 2 matches, one being against Djokovic, while being 38. Easy peasy.Federer was in the same situation. But lucky to him Thiem beat Djokovic and secured the first place in the group, so all Federer had to do is win his last 2 matches. On the other hand Zverev was trash against Tsitsipas, and because of that things got complicated, and Nadal had no chances left.
At least everything depended on him. That wouldn't be the case if Thiem lost to Djokovic. (assuming Thiem would beat Berrettini after that)Yeah, win his last 2 matches, one being against Djokovic, while being 38. Easy peasy.
Well, everything depended on Nadal from the start. All he had to do is win all his matches. At least everything depended on him. That wouldn't be the case if Thiem lost to Djokovic. (assuming Thiem would beat Berrettini after that)
And if Djokovic had beaten Thiem and then Thiem had beaten Berrettini and then Roger had beaten Novak, there would have been 3 guys with a 2-1 record so one of them would have had to go. Possibly Roger would have been the guy, who knows. At least everything depended on him. That wouldn't be the case if Thiem lost to Djokovic. (assuming Thiem would beat Berrettini after that)
The annoying part is that he spent so much time and energy on court against Medvedev and Tsitsipas for NOTHING. The only chance for him to ever get out of a group is by winning all 3 matches. He should have withdrawn after losing to Zverev.Well, everything depended on Nadal from the start. All he had to do is win all his matches.
The WTF gave him a life line, but it didn't completely save him if Nadal himself wasn't perfect in his subsequent matches.
I don't know what the fuss is about. Nadal was given a second chance to regroup. Unfortunately, he still wasn't perfect and because 2 other guys were doing better than him he paid the price.
Guess what, if Nadal had won a set against Zverev and defeated Med and Tsits in straights after that, he would have been 5-2 in sets and topped the group in the process. So it did depend on him.
That's what happens when there are 3 guys who have a chance to qualify. The one who did the worst goes out, which in this case is Nadal. The annoying part is that he spent so much time and energy on court against Medvedev and Tsitsipas for NOTHING. The only chance for him to ever get out of a group is by winning all 3 matches. He should have withdrawn after losing to Zverev.
I really hope you are kidding, "reached the final thanks to a disgusting choke from Del Potro" I don´t know if you watched the match against Medvedev, that was the biggest choke of the year, and Tsitsipas match was pretty close if you don´t know LOL.I already gave an example about Rome this year. And that's why I hope Nadal doesn't play this tournament again. He should focus on tournaments where he will not get punished for losing an extra set or something. If losing sets means not deserving a title then RG 2009 from Federer was a very undeserved title. And Nadal didn't deserve beating Ferrer in RG 2013 final using that logic. That's what happens when there are 3 guys who have a chance to qualify. The one who did the worst goes out, which in this case is Nadal.
The WTF simply demands a bit more perfection.
Why not LOL!! He won all of his matches, man I hope you are just kiddingDjokovic also should have never been in Rome final this year. Yet he was, and could fight for the title.
Nadal was lucky to be in this position, he should have lost v Medvedev and he should have lost today.
Dude, Nadal lost a match, that's why these extra lost sets hurt him. He should have been out 4 days ago if this had been a knock-out tournament. And that's why I hope Nadal doesn't play this tournament again. He should focus on tournaments where he will not get punished for losing an extra set or something. If losing sets means not deserving a title then RG 2009 from Federer was a very undeserved title. Is Federer out of the "tournament"?He didn't get punished for losing his opening match which would have been the case at any other tournament so what are you talking about?
