This is a real question. To what degree is Serena "from Compton?" We've all seen the early photos of Richard coaching Serena and Venus on Compton (or generally South Central) courts.

Yeah, I thought about that....i almost didnt go there since some people make fun of her like that, but it sounds so biblical this way (Lion out of Judah) and she has a mane. Of course the lioness does all the hunting! Anyway, a lioness is a lion, and i decided i was just splitting hairs (or fur) worrying about it. At any rate, she is worthy of 10,000 names! Aloha! I am lucky to live Hawaii, but am not ethnically Hawaiian. Because people of Hawaiian ancestry that claim that word, for clarification and respect, the rest of us refer to ourselves as Hawaii residents (or locals or kamaaina). Also, those who know me well can vouch for the fact that I am definitely not a fanboy! I am a big fan though, and possibly obsessed, but not in a dangerous way.

I do try to live and post aloha for the most part. This thread was created in the boredom of post US Open. I felt she's nearing the end of her career and there needed to be a place for fans to shamelessly and ridiculously brag on Serena in ways that would be unseemly and trollish in other venues. I want to make the most of the next couple years. It is my hope that people will treat this thread with the same aloha and respect I show their threads and not post trollish, hateful things in here. I just wanted to have a fun thread where fans can let off some steam and have some laughs without having it deteriorate into stupid fights like every other thread where her name is mentioned. Great pix. Eyes closed! I love it! I am worried for Serena....I think her back was bothering her. I had to work today, so I've only seen the first set so far, but her serve was very weak and she looked like she was crying into her towel on the changeover. But her back was bothering her in Beijing and she still pulled it off. Win or lose, I'm proud of her for gutting out that win today and making the final.

All I know is she is an amazing player. Just an incredible two year run from her. 8 loses in two years. That is awesome. She was feeling the pressure yesterday but she seems to be able to focus much better now a days. Its a pleasure to watch her talent.
