His chances although less will get even tougher as both nadal/thiem imo will surely reach last 4 at this year's Rg
Hoping for this scenario. Would really throw a wrench in the FO and make it interesting!!!

I should have specified if Nadal and Djoker on the same side of the draw. How exactly? Djokovic and Thiem on the same side, Rafa torches everyone on his way to the final, and then beats the winner of the other semi black and blue? Or Rafa beating Djokovic in the semis first and then destroying Thiem in the final as usual?
Only for djokovic it's relevant not nadal as at Rg Tsitsipas will get butchered, 1 handed backhands(exception of thiem) aren't beating rafa at RgWill Tsitsipas be in Djokovic's or Nadal's side? That's a relevant question for Djokovic.
Really? That's why Soderling beat Nadal in 4 sets, Novak beat Nadal in straights all in RG.Everyone is virtually guranteed to have to play Nadal in order to win RG. It doesn't matter how fresh or fatigued you are going into whatever round you may face him. You ain't winning.
It matters a lot. In fact it's absolutely critical.Who cares, anyway.
Yes seeding is hugely important at RG every year as it basically is 3 big contenders and then a gap unless off course likes of Tsitsipas, Zverev make themselves contenders as wellIt matters a lot. In fact it's absolutely critical.
If Nadal is #3, then Novak has to face quite likely both Nadal and Thiem for the title.
If Nadal is #2, Novak may only have to face one of Nadal/Thiem for the title. (assuming he gets Med in the SF).
The seeding may prove absolutely crucial for RG. Maybe more important than it's ever been.
That's like the opposite of interesting. The only interesting scenario that could happen at RG is watching Bull face off against Thiem and Djokovic back to back. Med as 2nd seed makes this scenario impossible.Hoping for this scenario. Would really throw a wrench in the FO and make it interesting!!!
Nadal could draw Djokovic in the SF and Thiem makes final. That's like the opposite of interesting. The only interesting scenario that could happen at RG is watching Bull face off against Thiem and Djokovic back to back. Med as 2nd seed makes this scenario impossible.
It's Djokovic Open. Therefore, the draw doesn't matter.
#DCGS
Thiem has no excuse not to reach the final then.If Med is seeded #2 and Nadal is in Djokovic’s half, the bottom half will be dire indeed.
I want to see Nadal go through Tsitsipas Djokovic and Thiem to win this RG 2021
He's dropped like 2 sets in the last 4 yearsReally? That's why Soderling beat Nadal in 4 sets, Novak beat Nadal in straights all in RG.
And also Isner, Novak took Nadal to 5 sets as well.
Plus Nadal is getting slower with age and more vulnerable to long matches, and If someone stretches him past 4 hours mark in RG, who knows..
Of course, Nadal is always the favorite, but he will be less dominant as he ages..
Djokovic no longer a threat at RG. That defeat at FO2020 was massive. He is also not really a threat at USO. Wimbledon he is with his new serve. But on slower courts he struggles now in long rallies. Naturally. He is old by tennis standards of course. His chances although less will get even tougher as both nadal/thiem imo will surely reach last 4 at this year's Rg
I think the real drama would be if Nadal is seeded #4. Him being #3 doesn’t have that big of an affect. I would love to see a situation in which Medvedev is seeded #2 and Thiem is seeded #3 which are very real possibilities going into clay season.
Only injury can stop Nadal getting 21. Last FO proved it. Hopefully Rafa skips the tour until Barcelona. No need to bother with Monte Carlo. 3 warm up events all he needs. Or he could skip Madrid and play MC. Barcelona he has to play given the court is named after him.3 and 4 are pretty much the same. They are randomly picked to go against 1 and 2. The real drama can only happen with Nadal out of the draw, because then there would be uncertainity on who would win among the remaining contenders, Thiem, Djokovic, Tsitsipas etc. That would add an edge.
Luck of the draw? I mean Nadal has massively declined on clay. He was much better from 2006-2013.He's dropped like 2 sets in the last 4 years
Of course he was. But the draw isn't suddenly getting any better from 2017-20 into 2021.Luck of the draw? I mean Nadal has massively declined on clay. He was much better from 2006-2013.
I mean you said all that and moar last year, and look how that turned out.Luck of the draw? I mean Nadal has massively declined on clay. He was much better from 2006-2013.
It doesn't matter how fresh or fatigued you are going into whatever round you may face him. You ain't winning.
Will he?This is simply not how champions think. Djoker fears no-one and will be seeking revenge for the 2020 Roland Garros humiliation. Rafa will have to lose one day.
Kind of like Roddick being 2nd seed in 2004 when he was 2-2 going into that tournament. This would be even more comical. It would be really weird though seeing a guy who has never won a single match at RG and he is now 25 years old, be the 2nd seed for the event. But, it is what it is.
What do you think was luck of the draw in the last 4 years? He played Thiem 3 times, Djokovic, Federer, Wawrinka, Del Potro, Schwartzman twice. He lost 2 sets in those matches. If you say he's been lucky with the draw, which players would've caused trouble for Rafa?Luck of the draw? I mean Nadal has massively declined on clay. He was much better from 2006-2013.
Will he?
He will lose eventually. All great champions do but the question is when? Will he?
I like to believe you have the full URL for that gif memorized and you don't need to paste it anymoreI mean you said all that and moar last year, and look how that turned out.
Unfortunately, the only things I’m able to memorize are unimportant stuff. Like people’s birthdaysI like to believe you have the full URL for that gif memorized and you don't need to paste it anymore
Amazing analysis when he's won it once in a 17 year professional career. Another guy has a slightly better record at the French Open. It's Djokovic Open. Therefore, the draw doesn't matter.

I remember that. Do you think the confidence that Novak has gained at the AO spills into RG.I seem to recall someone saying world #1 Novak Djokovic was playing the best clay court tennis of his life last October, and he got demolished. I don't think 7 months later anything significant is going to change.
I think this Australia victory will mean as much for his RG chances as his phenomenal 2019 victory did...I remember that. Do you think the confidence that Novak has gained at the AO spills into RG.
I mean in the AO final Novak played some of the best tennis of the past 2 years. He served huge and returned out of his mind.
Might that carry over clay and result in victories over Thiem and maybe even Nadal?
7 months is a long time in tennis. How much time did it take Delpo to get thrashed by Fed in a slam to beating him in the UsOpen in 2009.
