I think people need to remember that the players themselves don't claim injuries, but discomfort. It's other people that claim it to be an injury. As a player if you feel discomfort it's only right that you should check it out asap as to not aggravate whatever that discomfort is...innit?

So true! I think most people prefer to b!tch and flame. It's ridiculous.

It was a shame a bad line call opened the door for Nadal to break and ruined a good match. Del Potro had the point completely in hand, than suffer a major let down from some lines person making a ill timed call.

Yeah, I saw that. Was about to comment on it actually. Del Potro was up 30-15 when he served and volleyed and hit a beautiful volley right on the line which would have won him the point except the lines person called it out. They replayed it and Nadal won the point to get to 30-30 and then won the next two to break.

I don't think it's such a dramatic situation given that he managed to tough it out against Delpo who was playing well but you never know with these things.

Yeah. In all seriousness, these guys have abnormal pain tolerance and insanely short recovery times.

That's why Delpo was able to continue with the hip twist, even though it was clear that it was inhibiting his movement.

Ditto for Nadal who was whaling away at the ball after set 1, because he wanted to cut the pts short and not run. I also felt that he was a little subdued given how tense the match was. Didn't show too much positive energy out there. Had he lost the 1st set, I think the match would've been over.

Adrenalin can make you survive in a match and Nadal said he still felt pain. We'll know tomorrow about him, but it doesn't look too good.

Reg Delpo: ATP Beware! When this guy comes back 100%. everyone else can forget about winning slams. This is supposedly his WORST surface, and IMO he would have taken out anyone today except Fed or Nadal..

The lines person needs to let those calls go if they are not 100% sure the ball was out.

Real GOATs win without major drama.

So in other words, they lose all the tough matches. Yep sounds a bit like this guy:

My heart SANK. I was like not this effing **** again! Especially because he looked SO GOOD in the first set. He looked really uncomfortable for most of the match. I was so stressed out the entire second set, I'm glad he kept it together, I figured it was the adrenalin that kept him going. Hopefully it's not serious.

By now rafa is used to playing through pain, obviously delpo too. Ditto to it hopefully not being serious.

You guys, can say whatever. But Nadal is a nice guy who plays ugly, dirty looking tennis. ....and he wears women's underwear. ;) lol.

Nadal's round of 16 thread has nearly 1600 replies while Federer's thread has 250+ replies ;)

I think it's because the tighter anticipated match was Rafa's (which it certainly turned out to be, even though they both ran to four).

Assuming Roger gets through Tsonga -- who is in great form -- I'm sure the Roger-Nole thread will be just as ridiculous, LOL.

Check his last match with Mueller.

I think to me it was pretty clear that Nadal wanted to shorten the points.

He was just hitting out at the first opportunity. That's why he had so many winner.s Usually he is more circumspect with his shot selection, and wants to wear his opponent down. He also went for broke with his serve much more often.

Also anyone who watches Nadal knows that while his lateral movement was not too bad, his footwork, going forward and back, was definitely hampered. Henman and Becker also said this..

Again Delpo was also moving badly after the hip twist. So I guess it was even stevens..

I'm really disappointed ... Del potro could have had so many fans but he took that MTO and now all the Fedduds hate him! Disappointing!

I'm not the expert(far from it LOL) but I reckon sometimes adrenaline and painkillers can keep players going even when they have some issues so they're fine in that moment but later, after the match it starts becoming an issue again. I think most players out there play through many niggling injuries, it's normal given the nature of the sport and conditions/playing style prevalent today.

I agree about Delpo except that as I already said I don't see him beating Murray unless they play on clay, IMO Muzza is the toughest match-up for Delpo on tour by some margin.

Yes that's right. Fed won 16 slams, 5 WTFs, got to 10 slam finals in the row and broke all sorts of other record without winning any tough matches. You are the greatest poster!

You forgot 0 injury timeout taken due to a mere itch in the foot.

Ok then you're admitting Fed can't be the GOAT because he has won matches with drama. Thanks for playing, but you lose.

..and never any injuries. Have y'all figured out the secret yet? The rest of the atp are sadly depriving themselves, like novaks gluten diet, while fed has all the answers. what is it? :(

Not sure about that. If anything I would say Novak is a tougher matchup for Delpo because of the Serb's ability to change direction and hit up the line at will.

The H2H of Murray vs Delpo is misleading. I think they met 2 or 3 times after Delpo became Delpo in 2009.. Delpo beat him on clay Madrid '09. Murray beat Delpo in Montreal final, when Delpo had nothing left for set 3. He was totally gassed out and skipped Cincy. Again their WTF 2009 match went to 3 sets, when Delpo was having a niggle.

Murray is prone to big hitters, and Delpo has the power to hit through him. He has done so, twice in 2009, just not won the match.

I'm pretty sure he will get the measure of Murray the next time they meet..

Why would they hate him? He played well. The match was long and now Nadal is tired. If anything they will hate Fish who will go down to Nadal like a little b!tch in under 90 minutes after eliminating Berdych who actually would have made the match competitive. @#$% you Fish!

Why are you so worried about Nadal? You're not scared that he'll beat Fed again are you?

What has this match got to do with Federer? Sometimes I feel like I'm in a school full of children.

Del Potro played great and Nadal played better, too strong ultimately, but what a match!

Dude... Give up the ****** argument... The guy gets basically jail-sexed everytime he plays Nadal.... You can't be the GOAT, when you aren't even the GOAT of your own era... Not when you get OWNED by Rafa... Let it go buddy... let it go...

For the millionth time: GOAT is about one's overall achievement, not one specific match-up.

He made it even. I am cool with that. Fed should start doing that every time Nadal gets on a roll instead losing 5 games in the row after Nadal takes one.
