Kerber to Andreescu: you're the biggest drama queen ever"

I have a sneaking suspicion that big hitters in good form will be formidable opponents for this super player in the foreseeable future

I stand by my comment that once her opponents find out about her tactics she will have quite the troubles. Kerber instinctively (or not) did find such solution by moonballing her back successfully at times, and others will do it too. Her trainer summed up pretty well what she is trying to do, so I expect the tactic of throwing moonballs to illicit a weak response to get weaker and weaker as the time progresses, and then we will see about that great movement of hers (another reason for laughing from yesterday).

:)

They won't be able to adjust, because she has so much variety in her game, she has more ability to adjust than they do.

She didn't win on moonballs, but on a combination of power and touch and spin.

Everyone sees that she owes an apology...time to show class.

She didn't call any spades, SHE GOOFED, just like you did above.

That tweet (probably not from Kerber) is not an apology. Not good enough.
You still think it's legit? LOL. :X3:

I have a very nice bridge to sell you, are you interested by any chance?

You have already pressed the conversation....SO.....of course, Bianca has more variety in her game than anyone else on the women's circuit.

She mixes up hard shots, touch drops, spins of every variety, more repertoire than anyone else in the game, male or female.

You are way off course about moonballs being her only weapon, that's just a laugh.

Now, with recent shoulder surgery and a recent stress fracture in the foot, of course, she tries to break the rhythm of her more limited opponents.

And she had to retire today with injury trouble.

So, what is your point? I don't see one.

Is Andreescu the female Hoad in the making?

It is just a laugh ... because I didn't say that either.

My point: to reconfirm that what I observed and for what I was laughed at from some apparently avid experts is correct, and to assure that there is no further twisting of what I say just like you do now.

Kontaveit crushed her moonballs so badly that she called it quits

Yeah because she's quit when behind before and that's been a repeated pattern. Like when she was a set and 5-1 down to Begu earlier in the tournament.

Is it really hard to believe that some players have legit injuries? Did Serena get this "she's faking because she's scared of losing" crap thrown at her when she withdrew earlier in IW and Miami.

Personally thought after IW she was looking pretty beat up. Impressed she fought through for 3 matches at Miami.

Hope she gets healthy soon.

What, Kerber's congrats? It looks like her assistant wrote it. Not good enough.

Time for Kerber to own up and admit that she goofed, just like you did.
No, you still think her injuries are legit? LOL

Kerber's congrats (that she obviously didn't write) should have been deleted, and she should stand by the comments she made on court.

Some people are hard of hearing and slow to listen.....do a little bit of homework before you continue to get owned here.

Kerber needs to get real and admit she goofed.

The sooner she does that, the fewer fans she will lose.

Andreescu in the past 52 weeks:

Fed Cup vs Tsurenko: 6-4 3-6 0-4 RET
ITF Winnipeg vs Guillermo: 6-3 4-6 2-4 RET (played the next week)
ITF Saguenay vs Lemoine: 6-7(4) 0-2 RET (played the next week)
IW vs Kontaveit: 1-6 0-2 RET

4 retirements in 52 weeks. Worse than Kei Nishikori aka Mr. Glass

Yet another pattern emerges - quits when she's down instead of accepting defeat

This is my response to Jacob22 from yesterday:

It strained Kerber some, but Kerber saw that and several times moon balled her back, which tells me that as the time passes the top players will get used to those tactics and will have their own. Actually, in the instances where Kerber moon balled her back more often than not she won the point.

From what I saw Andreescu was using that tactic to get herself in position to pound the ball at first chance, so moon balling her back with precision or slicing her would prove to be an effective tactic in the future.

This is from my post today (the words of her coach in bold):

I didn't say any of that, and she was moving and hitting just fine in the first set and still got comprehensively owned by Kontaveit, but I won't press the conversation further.

For those that were yesterday laughing about my observations about her moonballing, I will quote her coach from today " So you throw the high ball, and then when you throw your high ball you want to get some depth, you want to push her back, ... and then try to use your forehand, try to get her on the move".

So, not only were my observations correct, but also the reason she does it (to be able to take the initiative after a weak response to the moonball) was correct, and also that it was an integral part of her strategy to "mix it up". Can't beat the feeling when the retaliation comes from the source itself.

I will take that over the words of the local experts.

You need reading glasses?

Bianca had in the past 52 weeks, 1) shoulder surgery in her serving shoulder

2) stress fracture in her foot

Those type of injuries do not heal easily, and some retirements are to be expected.

You seem to have a lot of trouble connecting the dots. Get some eye help.

Indeed, she is a fighter.

Her dad was worried before Miami that she was overdoing it, and he was concerned about re-injury.

It was better to be careful than over do it. Good decision.

You need to get up to speed on this.

She already said that she had so many problems with her body last year. What's so difficult to understand?
Do you think a player who won IW by beating top players at 18 would retire to Lemoine and Guillermo just because she was losing 0-2 and 2-4?

That issue is dealt with in exactly the same "knowledgeable" manner as the tactics situation: with abundance of local knowledge and not paying attention.

For example, I still haven't heard a reaction to the information that Andreesku has been engaging in some not quite adequate practices like hitting Kerber with balls after rallies, but I digress. The topic of Andreesku's on court attitude is not of my competence.

I don't know. If true hitting the opponent with balls more than once after the rally was finished intentionally doesn't look like a particularly good way to prove class, but I wasn't there, and, like I said, don't intend to get too deep in the moving sands called WTA.

Actually he said:

It's certainly obvious that Andreescu is not intimidated by Kerber - and she can be a little obnoxious - last week she bounced some balls to the other end after games that actually hit Kerber - never seen that before! Seemed a bit rude.

How did you conclude that it was unintentional is beyond me. I guess that that is in line with the way you reason in general.

What is difficult is to take what she says at face value because of the behavior she's demonstrated so far. She is still young, so she is not yet irredeemable. I hope for her sake and the sake of the sport that she cleans up her act. The entire tour should be wise to her gamesmanship tactics now, so their effectiveness will diminish.

I think that this puts our way of arguing on different planes, and I am fine with that as long as it is clear.

As for whether she will be accepted well, that really doesn't concern me one bit, but I can see from thousands of miles a couple of guys being escorted out of the stadium, because even partisanship is not tolerated. It is bad for business.
