Hoping the retirement announcement will help take any pressure off that he may feel to return to the top of the game. It seems he's accepted the idea that he is likely to hang up the racket for good barring good fortune, so no huge harm done to his current predicament if he is unable to return. He is better off just getting the thing done and forget about getting back to the top as he will never ever get there. Why? Let's say he does the surgery and recovers from it to be able to train. Just to train! It will take him up to 18 months to be able to play. So, if we assume at the age of 33 he is all healthy he will need lots of practice and it may take another 6-12 months to do so. Can anyone really see him back to Top 5 at the age of 34? Please do not say......aghhhh what about Fedr? He ain't Fedr and if Fedr had to do the same he would not make it himself either. No one would.
Stop dreamin'!
Numpty.Pretty classless to retire and then unretire after all of the tributes.
Nice move, Murphy!
predicted this toot too me own hornEurosport just announced this.
Guess Wimbledon is out with Murray hoping to return post rehab.
Fingers crossed.
Never understood why everyone dumps on Murray. What's up with attacking Murray in this thread? He said he cannot even tie his shoes without pain so another operation was going to happen at some point so he has a better quality of life. He may not even be able to play again except one last hurrah at Wimbledon to make his retirement official. Yea let's kick a great player while he's down who's being pushed out of the game because of a chronic injury and whose chances of playing a top level again are slim. Classy. I wish Murray the best.
One of the most classless posts I’ve seen on TTW. Takes a pretty vile level of vitriol to go so hard against an injured guy who may never play again. Is he withdrawing from his shameless sympathy retirement tour in not even two weeks?
Fits his motive I guess
Yikes
If he never plays again he retired with plenty of dignity and a great final matchHe needs to have it done and retire with some dignity

For those who make spitting and uncharitable remarks about Murray undoergoing hip surgery - GET A LIFE...
God ur dummy.Pretty classless to retire and then unretire after all of the tributes.

God ur dummy.
1) Murray didn’t retire
2) Murray didn’t ask for any of those tributes the AO did that in case a 5 time finalist never returned.
3) There’s no guarantee he’s even coming back. Odds are this surgery will end his singles career

I think he's just looking to lease a ChaletIm confused
Did he retire or not
Did they say if he's using the same surgeon?
Hope he's using Bob's surgeon. The guy in Australia only seemed to make things worse. At least Bob's surgeon seems to have got a good result for him.
I never heard him say he was retiring. I hear about being confused and conflicted about his options out loud. So, he changed his mind about retiring for now.
As much as I want him to make a comeback, I think that that is a mistake, or is it a psychological thing?
