Nadal fans don't show defeatist mentality against Djokovic

It is true that the Djoker has owned Rafa this year on all surfaces and mentally molested him, but if they meet in the final, Rafa has a decent shot at the trophy. Unlike with Fed, Rafa doesn't have a specific match up advantage against Nole, but I think he finds the 2011 USO surface to his liking.

All of Nadal's 2011 hardcourt matches vs Djokovic have been close encounters. The way Nadal swept aside Roddick makes me think if they meet i n the final Novak will have to work much harder than in the Wimbledon final.

Nadal's best chance to beat Djokovic is ALWAYS on grass. That's where Nadal's shots penetrate the most, and that's where Djoko's backhand is the LEAST effective (the ball doesn't bounce as high on grass).

Given that Djoko dominated Nadal on grass, I think the result would be worse on hard courts.

Regardless of how Nadal plays, simply put, unless Nadal improves his backhand and adds more netplay/variety to his game, he will NOT beat Djokovic. The high short balls that Roddick was just defending against, Djoko will be creaming them for winners. The matchup has started to become waay more lopsided and it's become a mental issue, starting with a technical problem..

True but those hardcourt matches earlier this year was when Djokovic was still the world #3. And Djokovic still had a chip on his shoulder as to whether he could beat Nadal in a finals which he'd never done prior. Each win made Djokovic that much more dangerous and Nadal that much more concerned. Nadal will be dealing with confidence issues if he sees Djokovic on the other side of the net.
