No you couldn't. The best players tends to make finals.

Fact is, the creme of Fed's crop was Roddick, his Main Man, who he played more often in slams than Nadal or anyone else from 03-07. By contrast, Nole's biggest rival in slams was Nadal, followed by Murray and Federer. Are we seeing the disparity here?
Fed played Nadal in slams 5 times from 2005 to 2007. That's more times than Pete played Andre from 1993 to 1999.

And as you said, he even played Roddick more times than Pete played Andre. What does that say about Pete's rivals?

Actually, Nole's biggest rival at his peak was 30+ year old Fed, not Nadal.

You're also being disingenuous by mentioning Murray for Novak and not Hewitt for Fed. Or even Agassi.

Lol first, that does not change what I said: Fed played Roddick more from 03 to 07 than anyone else, including Nadal.

And you also forgot that Pete played Becker, Courier, Lendl, Edberg etc. Nice try :p

Well, that's because Fed played Nadal only in 2005-2007, so of course he played Roddick more times. Still, he played Roddick 6 times and Nadal 5 times. Negligible difference.

Becker was obviously not the Becker of old when Pete played him, Courier was done after 1994 and LMAO at Lendl and Edberg. :p

Murray reached 11 slam finals, spanning 2008-2016, won 10+ masters titles, 2 Olympics gold and defeated Djokovic + Federer at slams.

Hewitt (finished after 2005 aged 24), 04-05 Agassi, Roddick have 0 slam wins over Federer and only 1 over Djokovic:whistle:

I try to reason but it turns out you have to pull up these stats to make any sort of leeway.

Back to OP,

Pete had the toughest, Novak the second, Nadal a close third, and Fed doesn't even place.

Pete did have nice competition up to about 1995. Latter half of the 90’s was absolutely feeble, though. ‘98 in particular was kinda sukk.

This isn’t a bad call, Pete’s argument is the sheer amount of surface specialists and diversity in the 90s. Novak’s is facing 2 ATGs + Murray his entire career.
I could see one placing Petros/Novak on equal footing, competition wise. My only comment would be that the differences in surfaces of the 90s, plus fast court tennis in general is not conducive to the type of day in, day out dominance that slower court tennis allows, not to mention modern medicine as well.

So did Federer.

True. However, Nadal had to deal with peak Federer from the beginning of his career.
Federer had quite a few years with no peak Nadal competing against him. He won a few slams in that time.

I know, just laughing at him using Edberg and Lendl. Mid 30's Agassi was more relevant than Lendl and Fed played Roddick more times in majors than Pete played Edberg in 1993 onwards.

Fed also played Hewitt 5 times in slams in 2004-2005.

Del Potro is a slam winner because of Federer LMAO

Del Potro is a slam winner because he mauled nadal black and blue in 2009 and then somehow went past Roge in 5 powerful sets, he earned the title with his brutal winners that would have brought down anyone.

Unlike Murray/Stan type jokers who were made to look like they had a very high level by Novak, such guys look impotent against Fedal.

Only against Novak does Wawrinka looks like a beast.

Stan destroyed both Federer and Djokovic to win at RG.... has further wins over Djokovic and Nadal

Stan could never pose any challenge to Federer on courts which favor Fed ... i'e Grass and HC.
Stan could never post any challenge to Nadal on courts which favoured him .... i.e the clay courts

But he mauled Novak on HCs and looked invincible, shame on weakling Novak.

Old, Limping, barely moving, ancient Backassi was still more relevant than Lendl who reached no more slam semis after age 31 :p
He didn't have the luxury of James Blake or Ginepri to look forward to in slam quarters or semis that year :p

To be fair, I think Fed used Del Po to enable, "Rodger the Dodger" mode in '17 to escape Rafa. His enslavement to the Nadal would have been an unceasing meme had he played and been dominated by him that year at the Open. Like literally every other post would be a meme on it.

Yeah... but then 40-15 happened again and his legacy is defined by that now instead:whistle:

If anything, that year Rafa was fortunate that Fed's form had dropped by the USO.

Federer had it the toughest.

01-03 : He found it tough to break through in this period because his own gen was very strong, they had removed Sampras and now were blocking Fed's path, he somehow rose to the top in the end of this period but Roddick was still there.
04-07 : He dominated a lot but a next gen prodigy arrived out of nowhere in 05 and stopped him from winning the French every single year
08 : Mono and Nadal made his life hell, his confidence was ruined
09 : Had luck with French but lost Both HC slams that year
10 onwards : 2 Next ATGs made winning anything close to impossible

This is the very definition of a tough career
