I am a Fed Nadal fan, I factually believe Fed is the better player overall, Fed has the Greates Forhand of all Time but he also has the worst BH of a top 1 player of all time, Nadal is machine so can the GFHOT beat a machine? it is anybodies game the stronger mentally will win, simple as that.

I would say Andy Roddick has the worst BH of a #1 player. Especially at the time when he was #1.

I have to disagree with Rickenbacker4003, Lsmkenpo, Datacipher and Larrysummers who say tennis players who who downplay their chances are smartass for the downplaying, and smart asses for elevating their defeated opponents.
Rafa is not a smartass for continuously downplaying his chances, and he is not a smartass for continuously praising Federer each time he beats him.

Maybe Nadal is just an anxious person. He has the game to beat anyone, but before his matches he might have a habit of playing out the worst case scenarios possible.
It is similar case with one of my good buddies. He is a very smart and hardworking person who studies his heart out for every exam, yet he still freaks out before the exam. He always calls me and asks whether he should study difficult material that the professor clearly told us would not be on the exam.

Yes, it will be the same broken record. He has crushed Federer numerous times, even this year in Miami on a hard court. Federer has made little impression on Nadal at RG over the years. Sure he has to play well, no doubt about it...but sometimes I just roll my eyes at some of the stuff he says. And of course, it is said in a humble way. I respect his tennis, admire his guts, and enjoy some of his matches for sure, but his "I am the underdog even though I destroy Federer everytime" is just sad.
Of course. It is his way. Federer and everyone else knows that Rafael will never come out and say he is the favorite, or that he is confident in his game and can do it. Sure Novak has been crushing Rafa, and I can undestand to some extent, despite his record that, Novak could be the favorite, if Rafa said that. But Federer has been beaten up by him already twice, and how many finals on clay has he beat Federer?
So yeah, whatever Nadal. But hey, if it works for you, then all the more power to you.
